Open Questions: Who Wrecked This Car?

We're still searching for the identity of the "wealthy businessman" who reportedly crashed this Carrera GT after the owner let his friend take it for a test spin during a party in Port Chester, NY last Saurday. Because of the reported location--very near Greenwich, Connecticut--and the amount of disposable wealth involved--the driver bought his friend a new Carrera GT the very next day--we suspect that the driver or its owner might be a DealBreaker sort of guy.

So we're on the hunt for the identities of the people involved. But we need your help! Send your thoughts to tips(at) dealbreaker (dot) com, with the subject line "Car Wreck." Here's a hint: the driver broke his foot. So look around the office and let us know which bigshots are limping today! Thanks.

Update: Autoblog, our source for this story, takes it all back! So maybe the reason we can't find anything about the parties involved is that, uhm, it may not have happened.

This incident may have been reported in the local paper. There might be a police blotter. Check it out. I know for a fact the local paper in Greenwich, CT has one, in my and my friends' experience... ;)

Was there an arrest involved? If so, check out the PCPD.

You might want to call the local Greenwich, CT motor car merchants. The guys involved may be, or have ties to, local auto dealers, or the merchants themselves may tell you (off the record of course) who was involved.

C'mon DealBreaker team, put down the bon-bons, get off your asses, and do some digging.

The Greenwich paper always posts these types of events in their police log. Even if was in Port Chester, I'd assume it would warrent a mention...someone must know something about this...

Believe it or not, we actually did make a couple of phone calls on this. Didn't get anywhere but we did go through the whole "reporter on the phone" thing for twenty minutes or so.

Actually the story is that. The guy who owns the car brought his car on aflat bed to the auto repair shop for a scratch and the auto body shop owner took it for "a ride" and crashed it like 30 ft from his shop!

I while back I heard a report on the radio of a mechanic crashing a client's Porsche Carrera GT whilst driving it back to the owner. I remember the story due to the price of replacing the car being quoted at about $500,000. Included in the story was the fact that the owner had already replaced it and the insurance company was paying up.
