Just curious, but how many of these numbers were contributed by people who were NOT analysts?
Staffers and Comp. Consultants seem like more reliable sources.

Just to clarify, are these total comp numbers or JUST bonus numbers? If these are just bonus numbers, that means 1st year analysts at GS are bringing in $170K+??

Top tier bonuses. Base for first year is 60k so you are correct in that the BEST first year at Goldman will make $170k pre-tax.
And in one million years of doing this, you could buy Berkshire Hathaway… see yesterday’s post:

Last year, as a first year analyst at a bulge bracket bank, my total comp was $60k base and $80k bonus ($140k total).
This year, total comp is expected to be in the $190k – $200k range ($70k salary + $120k-$130k bonus).
For everyone who thinks these numbers are too high, you’re clearly not working at an investment bank and have no idea how good this year has actually been. Either way, will have confirmation a week from today and will repost.

    (Above)
You’re actually wrong. Banks aren’t as aggressive this year as you think. Real numbers are in at half the bulge brackets.

Credit Suisse Top Tier DCM was 75
These are confirmed from analysts actually getting paid out.

Numbers are right but the bonus tax is some 40% in NY. I.e. a 60k base salary with a 100k bonus is only about 120.

after obama, reid and pelosi take full control, ~165k in new york will net you around 95g’s a year.
local taxes will rise as well, so take out another 5k.
max out your 401k like all good business students are taught, and now you’re down in the 70′s.
so unless mummy and daddy hook you up with a nice little place, most analysts live in slightly more privacy than they did in college rooms. sucks having 2 roommates, especially when one of them farts a lot.
