Can I Touch You...There?

220px-MichaelBolton.jpgWe’re hearing that Tom Hudson—last seen “dispatching interns to a PetSmart store a half mile down the road [from his office] to buy minnows for his fish to devour, to the leering delight of his staff” and doling out proxy swag—is looking for a new crew to swab his deck. An anonymous source close to Pirate Capital tells us that Hudson is “looking for new investors in order to get the full tax benefit. Since he blew up his entire marketing staff (well, his entire staff in reality), he’ll be using two Investor Relations personnel (one of whom is Isa Bolotin), and a former intern. Looks like Tom Hudson finally got back to his roots after blowing out half his portfolio and producing zero returns for the year.” And also, on a personal note, blacklisting DealBreaker from receiving those super cool t-shirts (we have hard evidence, inquire within).

Hear anything? You know where to find us. And here’s a free one, just because we like the look of your face: Hudson’s gal-pal, Ms. Bolotin, is the offspring of none other than Mr. Michael Bolton. Who was born Michael Bolotin. Who may or may not have money invested in Pirate. Who can be seen here, singing and screwing up the National Anthem.

for my money it just doesn't get any better than when he sings "when a man loves a woman."

I used to work at a hedge fund in Westport. After work we'd head to Bogie's for drinks and aps where we spotted Bolton and his daughter(s) a few times. Funny that he changed his name. Also, resident Martha Stewart was spotted a few times driving downtown. Westport is a heavily Jewish, 'artsy' community known for its wackos, so I guess these two felt right at home.

who would you rather trust your money with, Tom Hudson or Nick Maounis?

Westport's beach is nice and viva zapatas makes a mean margarita.

Rumor has it that one of the analysts named Peter left last month. Now they only have 2, and one is very junior. Pirate is trying to hire anybody they can to fill the position on the investment team as soon as possible.

that might be hard when tom is never in the office.

Does his investors know this?

tom hudson has been thinking with the wrong head for years now, and it's only going to get worse. The ship is sinking and for anyone to accept a job or invest money with pirate is crazy. Mr. Hudson RIP!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous, May 16, 2007 7:56AM

Because Tom Hudson doesn't have a single friend on Wall Street, and does not associate with anybody on the Street, he doesn't understand what a close-knit community it is. He doesn't understand how word of mouth works.

Unless you're hard up for a job, the only reason to work at a hedge fund is for the money and the experience (in that order). Tom Hudson has already shown people that you won't get paid...so, what's the point?

Tom Hudson is not a hedge fund manager, he's an asset-gatherer.

Paybackisabitch, are you Zach George or one of the other pole smokers that used to work at Pirate?

Forget it, I just read the rest of your post... "Does his investors know this?"
You're just a patent retard.

Dollars4dollars -

You add nothing. You don't illuminate anything.

What's your point? If you knew Zach George, the only reason you'd call him a 'pole smoker' is if he left your fund for a better opportunity after you bent him over and f'ed him.

You sound a lot like Isa Bolotin.

is ISA BOLOTIN PREGNANT!!!!! has tom hudson walked the plank again with yet another office affair. this company is done.

Anonymous -everyone knows george and all the other whiny bitches at pirate thanks to all the press they grabbed riding $2BN of other peoples money and blabbing to the media. Obsess about Pirate much? You live to post on their blogs. My guess is you are one of the whiny little turds that worked there, spent all your time complaining about not getting paid & having to feed some fish or wash a boat, and now resents your miserable existence without any of the attention you were getting when you were with a notorious hedge fund. If the amaranth wanks can move on, you should be able to. Alternatively, you're a pathetic psycho who pretends to know more about the company than anyone who reads the freakin news.

dollars4dollars sound like your losing it a little bit. is it getting a bit stuffy over at pirate with all this talk. truth hurts doesn't it.

We recently met with Mr. Hudson and his team, and were Very impressed with the level of talent at the company.

While Tom Hudson receives a lot of negative press from people who probably never met him, the reality is that he is very focused on generating returns for his investors. This was clearly conveyed during our diligence process which is still in progress. Hudson is on several Boards that Pirate holds investments in, and is well respected by his colleagues at each of those companies. For an activist investor to generate respect in the board room indicates that his demanding work ethic has its benefits and will ultimately benefit Pirate’s investors.

Give the Pirates a break guys! Ahoy matey!

nice try again isa and in this case it sounds like tom himself. how can he be focusing on generating returns when he is never in the office and has told his analyst and traders not to work on any thing new without his approval. further more his respect from his colleagues on those boards is not what he thinks it is, as word on the street is indicating very different. it's more like lack of respect from board members plus horrible work ethic equals investors get out now the ship is sinking

FundofFunds

I would like to sell your fund of funds short, can I do that? You are retarded, I hear Enron is a screaming buy right now, you too? Moron....

track the performance, in 3/06 he had 1.8 billion under management. as of his last filing, he had 915 million. between redemptions and losses, he's been cut down to 1/2 of where he used to be. look at his holdings, nothing new in a year. tell me again why you would invest in this?? looks like its on autopilot and out of fuel....did he really knock up the office admin...one mistake after another.

Posted by TH, Jun 03, 2007 12:39AM

Aint it grand.... I duped them all .. my wife, my stupid employees, my investors, and even my pear shaped pain in the ass girlfriend Isa. How can she think that that after all my crap, dishonesty, and screwing over everyone in my life that I would be honest and faithful to her? Please!!! What am I a moron? Now that I am rich ... probably worth over $100 million after everyone redeems from me... I should be with a girl who is definately hotter than her... maybe a few? I might even buy some cute girl plastic surgery like I did for my sister.

Pirate Capital lost more employees than it has ever retained and now they lost their Risk Manager, who actually did nothing, their Fixed Income Trader, an analyst, and they added to completely inexperienced analysts just as warm bodies to surf the internet so people think something is happening. Also, a former intern, who is 22 or 23, is now the person responsible for raising money and Dana "I was nice but now I am a bitter bag" McEvoy dealing wih investors. Can someone please explain how on god's green earth Tom "I screw everyone I have ever known over and now I look like a complete idiot" Hudson and his girlfriend Isa "yes my dad is Michael Bolton" Bolotin expect to have anyonme invest anything with them after all of this.

On top of that they now have less than $400 million with $265 million in Brinks and $130 in PepBoys.... does any see a problem with that ??

Seems the Bolotin girls are quite fertile. One of them recently somehow lost twins and the middle one (also working at Pirate) chose to recently rid herself of a four and a half month-old pregnancy.
