Carl Icahn tried to short the stock of the Blackstone group immediately after its IPO, the billionaire “corporate raider” told an audience at a conference sponsored by the Wall Street Journal.
“I tried to borrow the stock but I couldn’t do it in time,” Icahn said.
After he spoke to the conference, Icahn asked reporters not to print the story of his attempt to short Blackstone. Although he had bashed executives and told the audience that private equity had peaked, Blackstone was one of the few companies Icahn discussed specifically.

ohhhhhhhh cinnamon and gravy!!!!
Recently, Bush signed a secret paper stating that he now has the power and authority to DICTATE how the US until 2008, I hope, will react to future terrorist attacks. Further, Bush and his ilk have built detention camps across the US to hold “protesters,” apparently, of The New World Order. Further, to enforce this, he has created his own private, unaccountable-to-no-one army, Blackstone, and Bush having achieved “victory” in 2000 and also 2004, thanks to his right-hand skunk, likely, will suspend, the US Constitutions and also the 2008 elections, and grab power, Blackstone’s guns pointed at us — throwing “Protesters” into detention camps” — coup d’ tat completed.
After all it was Machievelli’s observagtion that politicians seek to gain and maintain power.
blah blah blah blah. Go eat some granola.
oh that would be pretty cool actually. hopefully we can get him or a gent hand picked by him for next term. i like rumsfeld
I feel like Blackwater would be a more appropriate scapegoat for your ‘(un)accountable-to-no-one army’, considering they are in actuality, an accountable to no one army.
I don’t care how many mercenaries he has and how many guns they have,if this next election is fooled around with or if they try suspend it, there will be an uprising against this president and his corrupt administration. It will make the our first civil war (aka American Revolution) and the second Civil War (in 1860-1865) look like a touch football game.
