the writer is obviously an idiot
People from NY have their heads too far up their asses, including you Bess. Chicago is the best city for traders to do business and live, the more laid back lifestyle and less grind than NY provides for a better city not just for traders but for everyone. On top of all that New York is responsible for the Knicks and Yankee’s -10 points.
i’d like to stick my head in bess’s ass.
Uhh, ya whatever. If Chicago is such a great city for traders why does citadel do all its recruiting in NYC? At some point they just “plum ran out of quality people and were down to the corn fed/flyover stuff”
Because Citadel sucks and everyone in Chicago already knows better.
I dig Chicago because the restaurants are effing awesome. Alinea stacks up against the best I’ve had in NYC.
Since everyone is there at 7 anyway, you might as well get done at 3 instead of 4.
Don’t kid yourself and think that because Alinea is a top-notch restaurant (true) that Chicago is a better food city than New York. Nothing could be further from the truth. And don’t get me started on deep dish pizza.
This is easily true for derivatives. CME, CBOE, and CBOT volumes put AMEX, NYSE, NYMEX, and NYBOT to shame.
The anon above is right – ultimately it’s a matter of what you trade and NYC, love it though I might, is hardly the financial capital it once was.
So long as the top 3 cities are London, New York and Chicago the actual placement is subjective. Honestly, how hard is it to take a jet to NYC (or Miami or LA) for the weekend if you want to go out and party?
I imagine it must be the best city for traders, because you can’t throw a rock downtown without hitting a trader on the head.
Los Angeles is better.
Having lived in both Chitown & NYC and worked in both the CBOE & AMEX, I can honestly say that Chitown is hands down the better city not only for trading, but for overall quality of life.
I miss Chitown…
