NEWSCORPDOWJONESRUPERTMURDOCHWALLSTREETJOURNALSMALL.JPGRupert Murdoch has just left the CBS building. Earlier today we sent our a spy—summer intern Scott Bressler—up to the dark tower in which the Bancrofts were negotiating the surrender of Dow Jones & Company to Murdoch. After being in the offices of Bancroft lawyers since around 1 PM, Murdoch just now left. His entrance this morning covered by umbrellas due to the rainfall in NYC went almost unnoticed by the reporters, photographers and camera men camped on 52nd street. But his exit was made under clear skies.
No word yet on what may have been discussed.

Is that some sort of code?

“Bessler” almost sounds like Carney’s secret pet name for Levin. Or for Scott.

I merged them into a single entity over the weekend.

“Is that some sort of code?”
I think it was meant to be a metaphor.

I’m no English major – but my school is probably a tier or two above yours. That quote about umbrellas was less metaphor than statement of fact.

A statement of fact may of course be employed metaphorically.
    Example:
“The rescuers helped the two whales leave the fresh-water river and return to into the safety of the ocean. At the same moment, on the opposite coast, Rosie O’Donnell resigned from ‘The View.’”
And, yes, I am ashamed of myself for that.

Summer Intern, Senior Mammary Gland Analyst, Celebrity Photographer, Spy…Bressler seems to be out-shining Bess in several key areas. When will he be allowed to write?
