What the fck are these people doing?
Back in my day we used paddles and played on real pingpong tables. We put 4 cups on the corners. I’ve seen the pyramid in the middle of the table…but using your hands? On a mini-table?
    Its an outrage.
And what about blow pong? Anything but using your hands.

Shelly Banjo? Are you sure that WSJ wasn’t channeling the Onion?
    Also, Big Money = $1000?
Maybe if you live in Darfur.

I don’t know what game they were playing, but they’ve totally taken the pong out of beer pong. No paddles? That might as well be darts. Actually, it reminds me of when I was about 10 years old and the town fair had a booth for kids to toss ping pong balls into gold fish bowls to win the fish (which inevitably dies before you got home.)
I also didn’t see any beer getting drunk there. The point of the game isn’t just to get a ping pong ball into the solo cup, it’s to make your opponent chug that beer!
I just don’t get these kids today. They probably allow “spinning” in foozball too.

Those guys were terrible. I didn’t see anyone sink a single ball. Also, paddles? Who the hell plays with paddles?

jesus fuck you people, the only real game is beirut, none of this pong or beer pong stuff.

  9. Posted by BeruitIsNotPong | August 29, 2007 at 11:21 AM

the problem is that the game pictured is beruit. Beer Pong is played as OSP said. Both are quality games and have their place in beerfest.

I really like the “hooded” upong outfitters logo – now that brings it home – homey -

    Correct – they’re playing Beirut.
Pong is with paddles…Ping Pong anyone? Do you throw a ball when you play Ping Pong? Pong on Atari? Come on now

Playing with paddles is great if you grew up playing “Pong” on Calecovision. Consequently, this generation doesn’t know much about ping pong given the popularity of extreme sports etc. I would be more than happy to whoop some ass in either version however.
I know The Big Easy on 96th has quite a bit of Beruit but it has been 2 years or so since I was there.

Up here in the frozen tundra of the Great White North, the game at our ΔKE house, as well as others, was Quarters.
Same principle, but you try to bounce a quarter off the table into your opponents glass.
    Good times.

Now you know why America is losing its economic status in the world.
