Yesterday we reported the weird scene that took place between Hardball’s Chris Matthews and CNBC’s Erin Burnett. For many viewers it seemed as if Matthews was hitting on the popular financial journalist. Today Page Six tracks down Matthews to get his take on what went down.
According to Matthews, the incident was just a bit of fooling around because the camera lens at the NASDAQ market site in Times Square had already made the Street Sweetie appear closer than usual. “It was this weird fishbowl look . . . I was just kidding around,” Matthews says.
Burnett had been in Times Square earlier doing man on the street style interviews about last week’s stock market turmoil.
