hedgefundrumoredtobeinselloff.jpgBlind hedge fund guessing game: Which multi-billion dollar multi-strat hedge fund manager, located far from Wall Street and Greenwich, is rumored to be “blowing out” its arbitrage positions this morning as all eyes are focused elsewhere this morning? What prompted the selling-off is unclear, but it has tongues wagging.

WTF? As if "far from Waal Street and Greenwich" narrows it down. Farallon, Citadel, Magnetar, Stark, Deephaven, III, Black River, and so on. HBK? Based in Dallas -- oh, but offices in NYC too. What about funds based in London?

C'mon, your hint isn't helpful. Hell, if a were a total UWS Manhattanite, I'd think Boston and Philly are far away and guess Wellington or Susquehanna.

Deephaven- they got too plastered at Brewers games and forgot to put on hedges... Check out NITE stock- since Aug and today!

Pretty good tell, if you're betting it.

PS

Somebody stick something in Maria's mouth so she shuts the f*#k up!

also DC really does need to stop with these "send us your tips, but you have to guess ... but we won't tell you what rumor we're hearing" posts.

isn't that like, the OPPOSITE of the tabloid business model?

Believe it or not, we have rules about this sort of thing. If a rumor is widely circulated or we can find knowledgeable sources to substantiate what we've heard, we'll print the name. If it's less widely circulating and we can't substantiate it, we're hesitant to print what might be complete fiction or worse.

John, that's such a predictable response. You guys always seem to be on fishing expeditions, putting out a crumb --- one that could even be a "less widely circulating" rumor of your own making -- hoping that someone will bite, even when you have a weak hand and no information at all. Of course you know that it's an old reporting ploy TO GET information. Not to mention page views.
