Steve Jobs Will Kill The Infidels

iphone.jpgApple issued a stern warning yesterday to cult members that they may “permanently damage” their cell phone/iPod combos by using “unlocking programs” in an effort to get the Cadillac of mobiles to work on unauthorized, non-AT&T networks. Speaking in hushed tones the company was vague in describing the actual technical problems, only saying that fraternization with the evil programs (that might jeopardize their licensing agreement with AT&T) would render the phone “permanently inoperable” when users install future software updates. Any issues that arise from the installation of forbidden software are not covered in the warranty.
In a recent interview, Mock Turtleneck cackled at the idea of being threatened by such programs. “It’s a cat-and-mouse game,” the High Priest of A said. “We have a lot of really good cats.”

Right, I don’t know if you picked up this but the iPhone being rendered “permanently inoperable” will not be an accident. They’re clearly going to send through a piece of software to “brick” and iPhones that have been hacked, and then claim that its side effect of new software.
The real irony is that el Jobso and Steve Wozniak originally first went into business together hacking into the AT&T phone system with their “blue boxes”.
That’s all from this week in nerd history.

Dude what the fuck is wrong with you? Portability across networks is an issue for the iPhone and it has nothing to do with Apple’s design of the OS. The Blackberry is excellent smart phone, at least for its main function of writing e-mails. Its people like you that give Mac users a bad name.
    Bokay?
    Namaste, Peace.

the iPhone runs on a second rate network (granted for now). My blackberry does not (3G tech). BTW, they are both AT&T (the iphone and my blackberry, that is).

Did you see the MarketBeat column where they posted a link to Jeff Matthew’s analysis of iPhone sales? The Apple alerts crew was out in force on that one. Classic stuff.

You should at least be comforted by the fact that you are a member of a relatively benign yet annoying cult. Just think: given your personality, you could well have been in Waco a few years back– or even gone down to South America with good ol’ Reverend Jim to drink kool-aid

Firstly, “Apple Ackbar” @ 12:23 was hilarious!
Secondly, up here near the arctic circle, the going rate for a hacked iPhone is currently three grand, and some dipshits are apparently paying it. Without me getting off my lazy ass and Googling it myself, what are people flogging hacked iPhones for back in civilization?
