More Reporting On The Financial Analysis of Golddigging

"In the age of ultra-sensitivity to sexual harassment, people might think that this guy's response about women being depreciating assets is not exactly how they want their firm to be perceived by the public," said John Carney, editor of DealBroker.com.

We totally have to remember to check out that guy who writes for DealBroker.com. That site sounds awesome!

Does anyone own DealBroker.com? If not, I am registering it right now!
Seriously, Carney, you should call BBC and clarify the situation.

Okay, but you have to cover the legend in the making that is Richard "Chip'' Bierbaum. Good stuff.

I'm starting to dislike Carney

This is so not fair. why are you trying to get the guy fired?!

1) he said he didn't write it
2) that statement should be put in context - he said she was a depreciating asset if her "hotness" was the only thing she was offering

12:37, why bother? Everybody who's anybody already know where to find me.

Anonymous who is starting to dislike me. I totally agree with you about context. She offered her looks as a primary commodity that made her fit for marriage to a wealthy man, and someone rationally explained why her looks weren't enough. I wasn't saying he was sexist or deprecating women.

What I was saying was that this is the kind of comment that can get you in trouble in today's corporate culture. "Out of context" is exactly how it would be taken. Which is why I think the author is wise not to step forward.

Carney? You mean the new head of the BoC? How the fuck do you find time to write on multiple sites on top of keeping Canadian inflation in check?

Posted by , Oct 10, 2007 1:56PM

JohN Carney? The lt governor of the state of Delaware?

Posted by , Oct 10, 2007 2:13PM

fyi, they got the URL wrong in the article - missing out on a lot of traffic $$ (www.dealbroker.com)

02:13: quite the sharp kid, aren't you?

Posted by , Oct 10, 2007 2:35PM

frikkin' hilarious that the BBC found it newsworthy. how long before the do a follow up covering Lauren O'Bryan and the harsh words she received.

A little BBC news coverage and the next thing you know, wham, she have a TV fashion-related show and be buddies with Paris.

umm, if you're going to start harping on spelling errors, typos and the like, you're going to have to start a separate blog just to catalog your own.

if your aim with this post was to show that you were quoted by BBC news, you could have just played it straight, ya know.

Believe me, I'm well aware of our own weaknesses and complete absence of a copy-editor. I'm just poking fun cause they got DealBreaker's name wrong. It's nice to get quoted but even better when it doesn't direct traffic to the nether regions of the interwebs.

Carney, you should have immediately bought out DealBroker.com and forwarded it to here.

I could give a shit about PC-ness. I wish I'd have written that response. Fucking classic.
