"It's unbelievable. The phones are ringing off the hook, and everyone wants to play golf with me now."
That's what Bear Stearns chief executive James Cayne told CNBC's Charlie Gasparino about the fallout from today's story about his adventures with the golf and the cards and the pot.
Also, now we know why executives need private planes. How else you going to score at a bridge tournament? Can't exactly bring your twos with you on a commercial flight. Not even in first class.

That's a great comment to make. He knows he's facing a "retirement", and what is a better way to proclaim his newly-found golf round openings?

What is a 'two'?

I don't understand why the dude is messing around with pot, what is he a 14 year old? Does he know their are some great pharmaceuticals available for a nice consistent high, without the stigma?
Or better yet do something respectable like develop a cocaine addiction?

he's pretty old. maybe he takes it for his arthritis in his hands after a hard day of holding those bridge cards?

What took you guys at DealBreaker so long to read the whole WSJ story and find this tidbit? Your morning email missed it!

Carney, clearly you havent heard about advances in waterbottle technology that can now disguise weed. Ronnie Mexico has it all figured out, and now you can even take it with you on to Southwest flights!

"I have no desire to spend the next several years of my life reduced to fighting against the doping officials," Jimmy said. "The fact is that it is more and more difficult for me, physically, to keep playing golf at the top of the game. Therefore, I'm retiring [from golf]."

You know...judging by the pic that Dealbroker uses when referencing J Cayne, my guess would have been that the guy is more into Xanax combined with some other muscle relaxants...oh and he might want to take some vitamin B6 and 12 (makes that weird skin color go away).

74 year olds don't smoke pot! It is unfortunate that the WSJ is now owned by tabloid owner Rupert Murdoch; this is the second proof of their new trash journalism.
