Repeal Day

Today we mark a happy day for our Republic--the repeal of the dreaded prohibition amendment 74 years ago. A demon-spawn of progressive error thinking, prohibition plagued the nation for 13 long years. It was a colossal policy failure on every level, failing to produce any of the results that its supporters had claimed for it. We plan to honor the day with a glass of scotch and an open umbrella, the symbol of the "wet" movement.

Just remember this when someone says they're a "Progressive". The Progressives were one of the worst movements in American history, supporting Eugenics, Jim Crow, Prohibition, government run everything, destroying markets, and trying to plan the economy. Today's Progressives are just as bad, and have nearly the same plans, though with PR appropriate for the times.

Yessir, a Repub named Hoover got that little prohibition thang going! As usual, a complete Repub failure. Like a Hoover, it sucked.

Last year I took it upon myself to gather a select group of friends (read: alcoholics) and venture to McSorley's (a bastion of intoxication in Manhattan for the past 150 years for those out of the city) to celebrate this historic day.

Alas, this year life got in the way, but alas alas, We shall make up for it this weekend! Who's with me!?

full disclosure: I'm currently midway through my own little celebration (if it wasn't that obvious already, sigh...)
