As It Turns Out, Ben Bernanke and Hank Paulson Are Entirely Different People

The best part of our day, apart from lunch at Bobby Van’s, happened when Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur started praising Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s for his role running Goldman Sachs.

It seemed to have made the day of a lot of others too, because laughter immediately filled the room.

"Did I get the wrong firm?" she asked.

Sorry lady. You got the wrong guy altogether.

Bernanke didn’t let her hang for very long. Through a thin smile he said, "I was chief executive of the Princeton economics department."

Apparently Kaptur was confused about which bald headed lord of finance she was speaking to.

Bernanke is more a pawn of finance

Hilarious! Go to the Wikipedia entry for Marcy Kaptur. Go to the Personal Details section. Read the first 6 words. Do the math.

Wow.

Pretty much proves that when you combine the following:

1. Woman in politics
2. Democrat
3. From Ohio (fucktarded subprime waste of a state)

You get bad things.

White folks in Finance ... they all look the same to me

Useless Democrat has no idea of what she's doing. Also, dog pees on a fire hydrant.

Despite what Jim Cramer and Fred Wilson say, no dem has any clue at all on the economy or market. Some repubs do, but nowhere near enough. So many NY, Conn., and NJ politicians need to be reminded what their state and local economies depend on - but you can get elected governor by bashng your state's key industry, screwing it's international competitiveness, ad then wondering what happened.

Thankfully no one is ever going to suggest to me that I become the notional D in the office or even donate to these campaigns. Right now they're madly scrambling to stop the messengers from delivering the "gift from the firm" to a few of our local pols of Liberal Fascism. Ahh being friends with the "dem" MD's assistant. That'll teach him to hit me up for a donation.

I seem to remember one Stan O'Neill being a Bush Ranger, that is a bundler of $100,000 plus in donations, gotten from walking up and down the aisles at ML, no doubt. Where did that $100,000 get us? As asshole in the white house. One of the reasons why I was happy to see Oneill getting his.

this proves the thesis: you can't trust those damn english majors hoping to join the ranks of congress (gullible do-gooders) or become lawyers (just plain suckers)...if you want your notes/questions prepared accurately (ms. kaptur), you need to hire (and adequately pay) a capitalist minded finance major! you get what you pay for...feel free to send hate mail to your favorite english teacher.

@4:56 I guess that would mean Schumer/Clinton bashing banking, Menendez/Lautenberg bashing big pharma. News to me. Schumer in fact caved on the issue of taxing carried interest and Rangle proposed lowering corp tax rates. You need to stop watching Fox news.

Posted by Bulging Bracket, Jan 17, 2008 5:56PM

@5:33 - hence the phrase "need to be reminded". They were pulling a stupid rentier move to try to extract money when they should have known what the entire tri-state area relies on. Who's the Governor of NJ and what did he used to do? He still acts like a Berkeley politis prof until someone takes him out back.

You'll note that no politician from Michigan EVER does ANYTHING that could possibly be see as hurting the (not so) Big 3. Dingell isn't exactly the most rightwing politician in the world, but mentioning that going down to a cafe for lunch is a good idea will likely get you kneecapped!

Schumer, Clinton, and Rangell will start spouting off and then a week or so later, once someone has finally pried the away from the camera and microphone, they get a stern talking to and then retract/claim they were misquoted. OR theres the Conn. AG going after the hedge fund industry. It's pretty much the only industry in the state that's growing except for Yale. But he still goes after it cause he thinks it will make him look good and he can force them to donate cash. Really stupid moves that pols in other states don't do, no matter their supposed politics.

@5:33 - You're a douche. Stop watching CNN. If you took the time to read Rangel's "proposal", you would know that in lowering the corporate tax rate, he would raise eveything else to high hell.
@5:08 - You're a bigger douche; 'nuff said.

Glad to hear that Congresswoman Kaptur's staffers know how to use Google to look things up.

Posted by Chazz Michael Michaels, Jan 17, 2008 11:58PM

They figured out how to use the Google machine?

I object to the comment by Anonymous @ 4:40 pm about the lethal effect of combining a woman in politics with a Democrat. Plus, leave Ohio out of this.
