Later: More Sykes Hate Mail. Don’t act like you’re not excited.
*His reasoning re: Tim Sykes not being a household name two years ago is that his fund was too small to get press on it its own and SEC rules prevented him from acting like the media whore we know and love today.
Update: Tim contacted me to elaborate on the above:
CilantroFP (12:02:04 PM): thanks to all my media now i get interested investors all the time, but now its too late for me
DBBL (12:02:10 PM): yes
CilantroFP (12:02:17 PM): the SEC fucked me
CilantroFP (12:02:27 PM): and now i’m trying to save others from getting fucked
CilantroFP (12:02:28 PM): or raped
CilantroFP (12:02:32 PM): the SEC are rapists
CilantroFP (12:03:00 PM): and everyone’s who’s been raped by them is too scared to come forward
CilantroFP (12:03:02 PM): i’m not
DBBL (12:03:12 PM): you’re a pioneer
CilantroFP (12:03:22 PM): i just don’t think rape is ok
CilantroFP (12:03:32 PM): and its gonna continue cuz they’re a predator
CilantroFP (12:03:41 PM): they won’t change unless the victims unite
CilantroFP (12:03:55 PM): and say “its not our fault”
CilantroFP (12:03:59 PM): “its not our fault”
DBBL (12:04:03 PM): take back the night
CilantroFP (12:04:36 PM): i invite everyone to become part of the solution
CilantroFP (12:04:48 PM): TimothySykes.com is a place free from financial assualt and abuse
CilantroFP (12:06:08 PM): yeah, don’t forget to link to my site!

He says ALL the wrong things….but I kinda like ‘em. He happens to have a good attitude about real shit, and knows life goes on.

  2. Posted by Phil Seltzer | January 25, 2008 at 12:23 PM

I haven’t been in the Tim bashing camp… until now. I like the confidence, but his irreverence smacks of a contrived defense mechanism.
    Or he’s just a tool.
RichAssJew with $2MM. Remind anyone of Dr. Evil “One million dollars. Muahahahaha.”
    And long Lindsey.

  3. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 12:24 PM

Wow, i actually kinda like this dude. He does admit his mistakes, and i love his ballsy Wallstrip short. :)
But I’m also short TimTV, so haha
i gotta give him some respect, he knows his limits, he knows and admits the BS, and he’s actually not into the coke/hookers bit. And is willing to tell it like he sees it on his Jewish background. From a Protestant background myself, I find that these bar mitzvahs to be almost a money-making scam. Well I guess it sorta keeps it “in the family”

  4. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 12:25 PM

    he’s delusional

  5. Posted by AJ | January 25, 2008 at 12:26 PM

Wallstrip jumped the shark a while ago… does anyone still watch this crap? Can we stop linking to it?

“rich ass jew”???? wow. that’s ridiculous.

FYI Bess, this is how you link a site :)

  10. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 12:41 PM

“Harry: Just when I thought you couldn’t get any dumber, you go and do something like this… and totally redeem yourself!”
Oddly, Tim redeems himself with his own affable stupidity here.

  11. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 12:47 PM

i never cease to be disappointed there is no actually stripping on wall strip. that is some horrible fake advertising.

  12. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 12:54 PM

tim, i think the joke was that she didn’t like to your site bud.

  13. Posted by Nominate me | January 25, 2008 at 12:55 PM

The IM diatribe reminds me of an old client:
I would make a market for her only to hear her scream “you are really fucking me! go ahead and rape me some more!” Oh, the filth that came from that woman’s mouth. Then she would do the trade.
    Those were some awkward trades.

I hate Tim Sykes. The guy has done nothing worthy of acclaim, but has deluded himself into thinking he has. He made some money during an amazing bull market…good job. He now sells advice, that virtually every decent investor already knows, to morons in Wichita. He’s scum. And on top of being scum, he’s a tool. If forced to work in the world that most of us live in, Tim would sell used cars. No fund, bank, or any other reputable institution would ever take this kid onto their bank roll.
On a side note, does anyone know where this kid hangs out? Given that I’m under the impression that his only friend is that little porker he played golf with on that second rate tv show, I imagine he doesn’t get out much in public. But, as I would love to embarass Tim publicly, I’d like to know if anyone knows if there are any social establishments Tim frequents. Just a simple pint over the head would suffice for me…

  15. Posted by Timothy Sykes | January 25, 2008 at 1:04 PM

Hey last guy, somehow you forgot I made my second million 2001-2005 through SHORT SELLING, no easy feat.
But my next scheduled speaking appearance will be at the Traders Expo on Feb 18, so come on down!

  16. Posted by A-Non | January 25, 2008 at 1:09 PM

No? When the world was falling apart, it was no easy feat to hold the view that markets were going to bunk? You’re a hack.
I’d prefer to embarass you without having to potentially suffer legal consequences, so if you could just let me know which bars you may be hanging out at in the near future, that will be just fine.

What happened to the other chick that hosted Wall Strip?

  20. Posted by HAM'05 | January 25, 2008 at 1:15 PM

its not a mole, its a love blister

  21. Posted by 4x book | January 25, 2008 at 1:23 PM

    taking the over @ 1:11

  22. Posted by Anal_yst | January 25, 2008 at 1:24 PM

    Sykes, you suck.
I’d front my mom who knows jack sh!t about investing $ before I gave it to you. Hell, I’d even give it to YOUR mom (again) before I gave you any $ to invest.
Alas though, kids like sykes serve a purpose in this world, and that is to perpetuate the old adage, “a fool and his money are soon parted”

  23. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 1:25 PM

Tim since you are here, could you explain to those of us who are not skilled chartists how the sykes pattern is different from an island reversal? Because it looks lik an island reversal to me.

  24. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 1:26 PM

I like the Wallstrip short. Cody would have never done it.

  25. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 1:28 PM

would take the under @ 1:11…but it can be too easily rigged…
crap…I just hurt the under by posting

  26. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 1:29 PM

    hah love blister

  27. Posted by A-Non | January 25, 2008 at 1:33 PM

    It is an Island Reversal…
That’s what I mean by Sykes selling un-original ideas to twits in Wichita. Anyone who knows anything about investing knows this kid is nothing but a wanker.

  28. Posted by WTF | January 25, 2008 at 1:41 PM

Yea, Timmy was actually good in this interview. he tried to hit on the chic, he shorted wallstrip, dropped an f-bomb, and mentioned Coke and Hookers.
What’s not to like? LOL i love it!
and as for the chic? damn she’s smokin’.. i’d love to hit that in the ass alllll day

  29. Posted by Bud Fox | January 25, 2008 at 1:45 PM

@1:13 That ‘other chick’ that you so crassly refer to is Lindsay, the Stanford-educated host who entertains us all with her presence and makes us more knowledgeable. Unlike you.

  30. Posted by ceoandpresident | January 25, 2008 at 1:55 PM

so what HF is liquidating this afternoon?

  31. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 2:01 PM

The only traders who make videos saying how much money they’ve earned trading are the ones who have no reason to be cocky about how well they trade.
Tim definitely was smart enough to go long during a bull market and short during a bear market, so it’s not like he’s an idiot. He’s also smart enough to know that he doesn’t have the trading skills or knowledge to beat the market now, which is why he self-promotes so aggressively and only trades with a self-admittedly un-scalable strategy. It may be annoying, pretentious, arrogant and irritating, but it does work. Before he was buying and selling stocks, now he’s just selling himself.

  32. Posted by No | January 25, 2008 at 2:03 PM

And the “Supernova” is just a parabolic run. And crows according to Timmy are not those mentioned in candlestick charts, but instead, a stock which just keeps slowly going down.
Ooh! Ahh! I’ve just saved anyone from buying it.

god i wish my job was like bess, wake up at 9, do nothing most of the morning, someone sends you an IM, BAM! there’s your deliverable for the day.

  37. Posted by Friendly Corner MD | January 25, 2008 at 2:25 PM

    Tim
I’d like to set you up with a few hedge funds. Potentially for employment and/or investment. This group is always looking for real trading talent. If you’ve got the provable track record we can definately get you the capital under a 2&20 or a nice salary and 10-15%.
Here is the catch. We are going to need to to it American Idol style. Three or four really nice and knowledgable Eqity MD’s to interview you. Will be filmed and ava on Youtube. Of course hosted by the lovely Bess Levin.
    Up for it?

  38. Posted by Porker | January 25, 2008 at 2:28 PM

None of this matters. None of it even matters! Those of you that are spending your hours responding with hate mail and bashing are unproductive losers, envious of Tim’s media blitz.
Think of the money you could be making if you weren’t trying to come up with new ways to criticize Sykes. Or at the very least, you could be getting involved with coke and hookers.
    Pork Pork Pork

  39. Posted by jcb | January 25, 2008 at 2:28 PM

I do think that there is a more important issue here, Tim aside. The issue of the SEC and hedge fund regulation does make the possibility of implosion more likely due to lack of capital infusions especially in the case of start ups or boutiques. In todays markets wider access to the strategies employed by HFs is arguably more advantageous to the small investor, just as small investor capital and the oversight that comes with MAY lead to more measured risk taking by said funds as well as innovation in order to differentiate. If Tim is not the best spokesman for the cause then I would suppose it is time for someone who considers themselves more capable to step up.

  43. Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2008 at 2:59 PM

@ 2:25, seems like you’re enjoying it, so why don’t you shut the fuck up? also, looks like bess is the only one doing the site this week.

  44. Posted by JRG | January 25, 2008 at 3:03 PM

following sykes on covestor, looks like his little ‘TIM’ project took a $1,000+ loss today. LOL

  45. Posted by Anal_yst | January 25, 2008 at 3:12 PM

    @ Porker
Pretty sure none of us have come up with any “new” ways to criticize Sykes, as through his actions/words he continually invites the same ones over and over again.
As for coke/hookers, my porkey friend, I assure you many of us have not overlooked such endeavors

  46. Posted by Timothy Sykes | January 25, 2008 at 3:20 PM

I trade several main patterns, yes they are based on an island reversal pattern, but there are many more variables that make these plays unique to smallcaps/microcaps. Understanding those variables is what my DVD teaches, so people can understand why these patterns happen and thus be more able to adapt to their mutations over time

Rewatched – she was flirting with him from 3 min on…
He totally had that interview under control. That look she gave when he shorted WallStrip…priceless :D
You gotta acknowledge the dude’s energy and enthusiasm…maybe it’s my machismo and impetuousness that kinda cheers him on anyway.
He just had a no BS interview, and I like the American Idol video thing, and would love to see that. :D
