with that headline, Bess should be allowed to leave early for the day

It's obviously a very serious issue. But that said, no need for another word. Definitely one of the best headlines that does not need another word. More people should write this way.

are there many transgender "top talent" on wall street that this is an issue even?

GAynalyst care to weigh in perhaps?

"Wachovia also offers post-operative counseling and provides diversity and sensitivity training for the "transitioning" employee's officemates, allowing the person to "feel like they can come back to some sort of normal work environment," Roberts adds"

So wait, when your cube-mate Paul doesn't come in for a few weeks, and then suddenly one day theres some kinda strange looking 'girl', curiously named "Paulina" sitting in his cube, that's supposed to be a 'normal' work environment?

Posted by girl, Feb 08, 2008 1:42PM

omfg that is disturbing

Posted by , Feb 08, 2008 1:46PM

it's not a normal work environment at wacky bank anyway.

SAC = SAC Capital Advisers?
I'm new here, and I don't get the reference, help?
I of course also chuckled like everyone else when I saw the headline, pretending i was in on the joke.

Another nail in the coffin of Western civilization. Gotta love the irony that this is the exact sort of thing that hastens the day we look at futures contracts on who's going to be our next Imam-in-Chief.

you should look back through the SAC posts in the archive

Judging from the stock price I can understand why they wish to trade in their dick for a pussy.

Posted by disgruntled straight guy, Feb 08, 2008 2:32PM

what the fuck? these homosexual groups (not that there is anything wrong with it) convince companies to pay for fucking sex changes? holy shit that is stupid.

i wonder if goldman will cover breast implants for my girlfriend?

Posted by Herbert Kornfeld, Feb 08, 2008 2:36PM

As a transvestite trader, I take exception to this headline! I get to wear soft, silky panties all day, but I can trade better than any of my fellow male counterparts. I also get to go work out after a hard day of trading, where I visit the women's locker room. Dudes - if you could see what I see you would wear a dress too! And no one can discriminate against you because you've got more rights than a Black Jew union liberal! Ya know it's true! Word up!

I believe this is just a clever way for Goldman to stick it to the rest of the street in a year when almost everyone else made money, the boys at GS can say we are so flush we will even pay for sex changes. Wtf do we care its chump change to us.

I feel like the appointed representative of the Wall Street gay boys. Here's what I think: gay is not the same as transgendered, and in fact gays are generally uncomfortable around the trannies, as they are know somewhat derisively. Going to a cheezy gay club (think Oscar Wilde on e58) and seeing a guy belting out toons while dressed like Liza (Minelli, or course) is one thing. Having sex with someone who's had their cock amputated and breasts enlarged is totally different and not at all appealing to most. That prejudice in fact is a big issue in the gay community.

That said, who are any of us to judge and why is it so difficult to imagine that there are talented people that are transgendered. Probably not alpha male hedgies but maybe a bright guy in IT, whatever. I did in fact hear a story from an M&A guy I know at First Boston who worked on a deal and in the middle the CFO of one of the two companies being merged changed his sex. Plus, as pure business decision these benefits are really cheep. I remember the griping by the straight guys over having firms pay for partnership benefits. You know what: my partner has as good a job as I do and doesn't need those benefits. And, even if he did, I'll bet they would cost the firm no where near as much as they pay to cover the endless ear aches, tonsil aches, colds, and flus of the annoying little rug rat dependents of the straight boys.

Actually, given what crap results Goldman's in-house hedge funds have turned in, it probably has more to do with senior management's desire to catch up to SAC, rather than attract their hormone-addled supertraders.

The real question is whether GS will pay for voluntary sex changes, or is this just a policy to pay for the ones they force their senior prop traders to undergo?

This is the discount plan.

HT knows that many a banker has no balls; so its merely a lipstick/wig staple job billed as a full boat tranny-deal.

Ganalyst,

I don't have any problem with the fact that your gay.

It's the fact that you put other men's dicks in your mouth and butthole that I find troubling.

Posted by Unit trust trader, Feb 08, 2008 9:17PM

OMG. I trade unit trusts and I'm going to have surgery to become a woman... I was going to apply for a position on the Vietnamese FX desk (trading the Dong), but now I think I'll see if I can get a job trading stub-period bonds.

That's how investment banks smoke out the hard core gays in their midst.

Don't take the bait.

Check out GS spokeswoman's last name.
