Yesterday a Dow Jones newswire story ran a headline claiming that billionaire investor Warren Buffett had said the dollar will be "worthless" if the current account deficit continues. But the story itself said something very different.
"If our current account deficit keeps running at present levels, the dollar I think is almost certain to be worth less five to ten years from now compared to other major currencies," Buffett was quoted as telling a bunch of Canadians.
So had the Omaha Oracle really gone to a foreign land to declare worthless the currency of the land of the free? We have no idea. But this morning he went all Giselle on us and took it back, calling CNBC’s Becky Quick while he was on the air, to tell her that he was misquoted. The dollar is not going to be "worthless" he explained. It's going to be "worth less."
If you don't pause between the two words, the terrorists win.

Hope to god it's Obama. Hillary wants to freeze mortgage rates by government mandate for FIVE YEARS. Obama's response at the debate: that's stupid, because it will make interest rates on NEW mortgages that people try to get go through the roof.
There's a reason inflation-slayer Paul Voelcker has endorsed Obama - the guy "gets it" when it comes to economics. He'll be very fiscally responsible.

WEB hasn't shown his mastery of trading FX. While he made $2B on his short dollar trade, he covered right before the dollar fell another 15-20%. I already think the dollar is due to rally, but now that WEB is back out beating the bearish drum, I'm more convinced than ever

whatever the guy's timing was off be he still had the trend and me made more money on that investment than most people will ever even get to run in a lifetime. if anything you should take it as a sign that the dollar is oversold because Buffet covered 20% ago.

I envision it as bending her over a trading desk or some railing on the exchange floor pre-market (or her studio desk), lifting up her Gucci skirt, and having her yell out the names of firms and buy/sell recommendations while she's banged harder than an iron worker flattening a roll of steel. I accomplish two goals at once: learning which stocks to invest for the day in while bangin' Becky. Think of the ratings CNBC would get if they showed that! I'd buy that for a dollar!
