Langone: Spitzer Is A Hypocrite Who Once Sent $2,800 Of Money Orders To A Hooker

Oh, wait. Not all of Spitzer's targets are keeping as quiet as Grasso, Blodget and Greenberg. Last night CNBC caught up with Ken Langone, a former director of the New York Stock Exchange, near the Tribeca Grill. He wasn't exactly reserved about his feelings for the soon-to-be former New York governor.

"I had no doubt about his lack of character and integrity," Langone said on a taped interview that was aired on Squawk Box this morning. "It would only be a matter of time. I didn't think he would do it this soon or the way he did. But I know for sure he went to a post office and bought $2,800 worth of money orders to send to a hooker."

Langone told CNBC that Spitzer was a hypocrite. "The number of people that he besmirched, the number of people whose reputations were earned that he soiled is horrible," Langone said.

Ken Langone has long been one of the most well-connected men on Wall Street. He was forced to resign from the board of the NYSE when targeted by Spitzer, who was then investigating the pay package of NYSE chief executive Dick Grasso.

In fairness to spitzer, many of those people deserved to have their reputations besmirched.

On an unrelated note - Did Gasparino get into it this morning with Betsy McCaughey Ross? I caught the end of the interview and she seemed outraged about something...

video? anyone...

He did get into it with her. The video is on the CNBC site but they cut out her reaction at the end.Gasparino is an idiot, all he kept saying is "I wrote a book abt Dick Grasso". PLus hes always sweating. Langone was great, I love that guy

It was great! Gasparino made a comment to the lady, "You were Lt. Governor for 4 years and didn't do anything, so knock it off with this dysfunctional government fallout, it's always been dysfunctional".

I think he also threw in a "You don't know what you're talking about".

She made a comment to the effect of "This is the rudest thing I've ever seen on TV" and Becky Quick apologized for knee-cap-shatterer and asked her to come back on to explain her tenure.

I thought it was GREAT TV and was laughing the whole time.

Definitely warrants a BL post.

HEY SPITZER'S DAUGHTERS. WANT TO GET REVENGE ON YOUR DAD?? I'M AVAILABLE AND I DON'T HAVE A SMALL JEW COCK LIKE OUR DAD! I WILL WEAR A CONDOM IF YOU WANT.

Hypocrisy is nothing new in politics. Spitzer should pardon those convicted in his prosecutions of prostitution rings and stay in office. Let’s move out of the hotel room and back to Albany.
In general, prostitution can be a vehicle to enslave women. But hookers earning $1000 an hour can not be considered victims.
Going to a pro is far more honest than lying to a young unmarried girl that you are going to leave your wife. I would rather my boss visit a hooker than harass me.

Okay, so if we're not gonna have a poll about the nature of the sex act, how about a new nickname for Spitzer? Carney's "Loathesome Elliot" never really caught on, so let's have a contest.

Carney - mail orders are not the same thing as money orders!

the cnbc video is more classic gaspirino - sweaty, confrontational and overbearing. for those that missed it, here it is: http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=681418995&play=1 I love the line chuck-e-cheese gives to the former lt. governor: "ny state government has been dysfunctional for over 20 years", the resulting look on mccaughey's face was priceless.

while spitz may be client #1, charlie boy is ass clown #1. bess, why aren't you live blogging downtown next to michelle c cabrera, I'm sure you could get on cnbc if you play nice (we all know carney won't let go of the limelight, this is your big chance).

The best part about what Langone said was when asked how he knew about $2800 money order at the post office he replied "I knew the guy behind him on-line, that's how I knew".

Gasparino might be an ass, but he was right to throw that sh*t back in that snooty ex-lt gov's face. She needs to get thicker skin, she looked like she was about to cry

@ 11:22. You are offering to bang your sisters?

Posted by guest, Mar 11, 2008 1:14PM

@1245, no... your sisters

This stuff about Langone and the postal service money orders is just too weird.

If it's true, it means that an above-average tall, thin guy in an expensive suit and a very recognizable face stood on line at a U.S. Post Office to buy large denomination money orders.

Have you guys ever seen the group that stands on line to buy money orders? There aren't too many white guys on line, and if there are, they tend to look like Viet Nam vets on disability.

I have a little trouble believing it's true, because I'm sure the postal clerk would have remembered the man and the amount of the money orders and mentioned it to someone.

1. No, you didn't get rid of me yet. I just had some housekeeping to do and video tapes to return...i'm back.

2. Apparently no one is getting why Langone made his final "I know because I know he did" comment about the money orders. He was simply pulling the public flogging sans evidence or indictment bs that Spitzy kept pulling. Spitzer "knew" Langone and Greenberg had committed haneous crimes...he just knew...now Langone knows a thing or two.

Not my most insightful comment--i know. But chill out ladies, i'm just warming back up.
