The cuts are said to affect employees low and high, and may be related to a big writedown MER’s got in the hopper. Any connection between the 300 pink slips and the pink tops stolen out of John Thain’s daughter’s dresser drawer over the weekend? You tell us.

like totally - I mean, pluh-eeeeze. What's the world coming to when riff-raff have to steal a measly 9K worth of stuff from a dorm room? Do you have any idea what rhinestones cost these days? Please Daddy, can I go down to the Sears store and get a new photo?

As I wrote yesterday after the previous posting about the young lady's missing pink thong, this may be a preview of darker things to come. There are many pissed-off people on this planet who look at the creeps on Hedge Street and at the celebrity CEO types with the "I've got mine, and now I've got yours too" attitudes. Those people may be looking for someone to blame for their own financial discomfort, tanked 401k, or lost job. You never know.
