Your Employer Will Have No Problem With This

tim.jpgYou might have noticed, due to our lack of posts on the subject, that we couldn’t get it together to watch the second season of Wall Street Warriors. This had a lot to do with the fact that it was impossible to stuff yet another show into our already jam-packed lineup of The Wire and Larry Robbins TV (a 24 hour webcam in L-Train’s Glenview office) and a little to do with the fact that deep down inside, we couldn’t bear the idea of watching a WSW that didn’t feature hedge fund manager Tim Sykes knocking over a fan when his AUM went from twelve large to ten. But we think now that the W’s gone and Lar’s embarked on his year of silent reflection in Vienna, we could find some time to watch a bunch of Street fighters in actions. We could especially get behind watching 4-5 "warriors" day trading out of their studios whatnot if one of them was a DealBreaker reader. So don’t blow this.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the 26 year old dude running the $100 MM or whatever PE fund. Who did he hit up for the cash? And why does he drive a Ferrari from that car club next to the Holland tunnel.

I can answer the second part: to impress the ladies without having to buy a Ferrari.

Did that French Laetitia chick ever find employment? I've got some foreign exchange for her. Specifically an exchange of good ol' American meat for French beaver. What? I'm willing to help out our trade deficit. It beats waiting tables.

Why no one here could post Gary Dellabate's picture next to that guy's photo is beyond me... I *still* believe that Gary Dellabate's father visited Canada and sampled the goods...so to speak. Baba-booey!

2 seconds worth of research reveals:

So the guy looks legit, although a $100MM fund with that many "senior" people doesn't quite smell right. I mean, 3 founders, 2 CIOs, a CFO, a COO and a GC?

Also, that episode where he went to the nazz to find what it takes to get a company listed was fishy. Does he not know how to use the interwebs?

5:16 - My favorite part was when he went to go do some DD on that bank up in Connecticut. The "swanky" private bank that looked like the inside of a funeral parlor in Topeka. God knows what those bozos were using their deposits to fund.

Doubtful that having your face so in public is a good career move.

@ 5:00

based on the fact that a 26 year old guy with pretty limited experience is founder and president; and that what appears to be his younger brother (or some relation) is a VP my first guess is that there's some family money bankrolling this thing - probably at least 25-50% of their capital.

Also looks like they have a texas-based fund. A lot of state plans in texas have mandates to invest in PE funds that invest in texas, so raising a TX-focused fund wouldn't be a total stretch, especially with the somewhat limited competition down there.

How did these Hickey boys get green cards, when my poor maid is illegal. Heaven knows that in the US we have a shortage of maids and an overabundance of hedgies.

How intense a diligence process does one even need to lead when making drop in the bucket minority equity investments or even more effeminate mezz transactions...

Probably just a bunch of asset-deals any way.

Hickey. Hickey. Sounds distantly familiar for some reason. I think they might be Alberta boys. Hmmmm...

I do get a kick out of Kyle's bio, where he lists his Alexander Rutherford Scholarship.

I received one of those as well a bajillion years ago, but I sure as shit wouldn't list it as a major accomplishment, especially on an internet bio and if I already have a law degree from Oxford:

Clearly these guys aren't dumb, but something isn't sitting right with me... hmmm... time for some phone calls and emails....

I think this is a case of old, big money thinking young guys can fetch "sexy' money. Yech. I have to go wash my hands now. Probably got a MM for every year of age and IQ added together.

What about the older lawyer chick? I'd like to see her half drunk and naked sucking on my schlong and saying stuff like, " Tell me about your arb position baby", or, "Drop off your deposit in my assett"....

This show is a JOKE. The Fund Manager is a tool, guy is such a cheeseball. The two brokers pimpin Sandisk are hilarious, and I dont mean in a good way. What Fortune 5000 guy would talk to these two about buying stock?? The chick in the Cotton pit is annoying as all get out. The only guy I can tolerate is the dude in the OJ pit, reminds me of Trading Places. The french chick is pretty hot though

@10:16 Made me laugh. Is it me or when the French chick was at the first job the two sleazeballs wanted to just bang her? Maybe it's just me. I wouldn't get near her though - her father reminds me of the guy in Blood Diamonds.

Thank God things are getting back to normal. DB is sliding back into it's place as a Tim Sykes fanboy web site agian. Maybe the worst really is behind us.

for what it's worth, here's my quick take on the players:

- French chick: nice eye candy, no substance

- HF Brett: Smug a-hole. If he says the word "networking" one more time I'll puke.

- Boiler room brokers: Scum of the earth. Any one who would take stock recs from these guys deserves to lose their $.

- OJ trader: hate to say it, but i like this guy. First person i've seen on this show who seems like a real pro.

- Cotton trader: BORING
