Citi Never Sleeps: The Ad Campaign

citilog.jpgWhen we learned this morning that Citi CEO Vikram Pandit had announced at 5:03 this morning that the financial giant was adopting “Citi Never Sleeps” as its new company motto, we immediately began anticipating the new advertising campaign that Citi will doubtlessly unveil.
And then we decided we couldn’t wait for Citi. Pandit’s got a lot on his mind, and the bank is strapped for capital. Why not devise an advertisement for the bank? You know, just to help out. Of course, we may understand the concept of eternal insomnia slightly different from Citi, which imagines that ‘Citi Never Sleeps’ conveys the image of a bank with “boundless energy to serve customers.”
Our Citi ad after the jump.

That’s terrible. It’s so depressing and suffused with an overpowering gray that blots out the sun. It sucks the joy out of you and leaves an empty husk of what used to be your life.
Kind of like working at Citibank.

Is Citi now the bank for tweakers?

  13. Posted by guest | May 7, 2008 at 4:11 PM

Alternatively, “Citi Never Sleeps” conveys the image of Pandit in a bath robe at 3 am, pacing, smoking cigs, with Cheeto cheese dust wiped on the front of his undershirt…pondering a mountain of shareholder lawsuits, destroyed shareholder value and brand equity.
I wouldn’t sleep either, I can only imagine the nightmares.

What do you mean now? Think of when the slogan was originally launched…

  15. Posted by guest | May 7, 2008 at 4:15 PM

    Citi backwrds is “I tic”……

  16. Posted by guest | May 7, 2008 at 4:18 PM

If Citi merged with the Downy Fabric Softener group the people answering the main corporate number would say, “Citi Downy”

So what do you people have against Frank Sinatra, otherwise and appropriately known as the Chairman of the Board.
Didn’t Frank used to talk about the City that never sleeps?
    He meant Hoboken?

do you know whY? “Citi never sleeps.”
    No, Why?
Because It has “too many” problems. No wonder it can never sleep.
CitiBank gave us this hint about their troubles a long time ago and they came out with their catchy slogan to re-introduce recently. – CITI
    NEVER SLEEPS – of course,
At this time (January 2009), we do not have any control over the situation – so – some of us can only do is “laugh”

What do you mean Citi Never Sleeps?
Looking at my statements in 2008, a more appropriate logo would be “Citi in a Coma”
