Mark Petrinovic, JPM’s head of Latin American Credit, along with 4 MD’s and 1 ED, are said to have been laid off yesterday. Supposedly the cuts were “quite unexpected as they were unrelated to the Bear integration.” Which begs the question, would you rather be fired through no fault of your own, or for reasons that can be placed squarely on your drug use*? Personally, we’re inclined to go with the latter. If** I’m going to get fired, I’m going to do it on my own terms.
*Merely a “for instance.”
**“If,” ha.

I’ve been fired because my “team” lost money trading. I’ve been laid off because another company bought my employer. I’ve been laid off because the parent company of my employer went bankrupt. I was laid off because my recent employer made so much money we were sold to a competitor for 10 times earnings and they let our trade desk go en masse. I was laid off because even thought I tried as hard as person can to create value in a depressed business climate I just couldn’t do it and my contract expired and wasn’t renewed. Now I have my own company and I am taking the rest of the day off, thank you very much.
Mistress Levin is on fire today!
There is in fact a very direct connection between his layoff and integration of a high ranking bear credit personnel……..do your homework.
why don’t you just tell us, 2? where do you think they get their info? from people who work in the industry and know. or are you just here to make unconstructive comments?
@2– i guess that’s why they wrote “supposedly.” genius.
@12:57. Congratulations on becoming your own boss. I hope business is good.
Yeah, congrats 12:57. Self-employment is mostly a great thing, except when your boss is a total dick!
Or except when the business doesn’t come in.
12:57, aka the dickhead commenter formerly known as BSD: glad to see you are still as much of a handjob as ever. But good luck “having your own company”.*
*Translation from pillow biter speak:
“having your own” = smoking
“company” = pole
