Take That You Fraudulent Brits!

LIBOR? We don't need no stinkin' LIBOR. Screw you guys, we're going home. We are taking our toys to the sandbox in our backyard. Not only that, but we are making a marketing play. The New York Funds Rate (NYFR) is around the corner, and in the spirit of the New York Police Department (NYPD), the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) and various television programs based in New York, NYFR is positioned for acronym success. Variances of the rate (NYFR Blue) will make for excellent follow-on merchandising.

Watch out, UK. Your time is nigh.

I can totally see floor traders rocking the NYFR hoodies and hats.

It's about time. We are sick and tired of "ferners" gaming a UK product. We want anyone to be able to game our own interest rate product! It's the American way! The colors don't run, you know.

Yeah, because putting a bunch of sleazy brokers in charge of it is a far better idea....

Don't Tread on Me. God bless America.

I'm going to miss the artifically low LIBOR.

"Yesss...Kyle's Funds Rate...KYLE'S Funds Rate...Sweeeeeeeet!"

Posted by guest, May 01, 2008 4:30PM

I say, this is just not on chaps...tea anyone?

Posted by mrpink, May 01, 2008 4:36PM

How about I come up with the NYGR - NY Gay Rate.. Same principle, just based off of the cost of borrowing to obtain the latest fashions and copious amounts of alcohol in NY bars... That'll teach those sleazy NJ brokers!

I am a flamer from Saskatoon and I am going to sneak into the poling booth and vote for Ron Paul because I love freedom and I also love pole.

NYFR? will the proper pronunciation be "nerf"?

Let's see if we can throw the nerf around?

Well, at least nerf won't break anything.

Its difficult to homer off a nerf.

-------

Actually, I think that works.

Posted by guest, May 01, 2008 5:34PM

are you dyslexic?

Posted by NotNasser, May 02, 2008 12:23AM

No. Are the folks who invented the "FCUK" logo dyslexic?

I do think "nerf" would be a cooler pronunciation than, say, "knifer".

Maybe they should call it the New York Rate of Funds, to make "nerf" inevitable.

Posted by guest, May 02, 2008 8:56AM

NYFR can be pronounced Nerf because for some reason Brett Favre pronounces his name Farve.

Posted by guest, May 02, 2008 8:58AM

"No. Are the folks who invented the "FCUK" logo dyslexic?"

You honestly don't see the difference? Nobody actually calls it "FUCK" when you say it, it is still FCUK

Posted by guest, May 02, 2008 8:59AM

That is because most of the football fans in green bay are practically dyslexic anyway. Then again so are more of the rates traders i know.

Posted by guest, May 02, 2008 9:11AM

Only the people who wear FCUK are dyslexic.

"Watch out, UK. Your time is nigh."

1) ICAP, who will run this product, is a UK company
2) It could be foolish to trust ICAP to produce accurate data from anonymous bids, it will become easy to fix
3) LIBOR is produced by an independent industry group, BBA, with named bids for transparency, from global banks
4) London is the fx center, and LIBOR is produced for all majors, out to 12m, which means immense liquidity
5) LIBOR is priced from interbank deposits only, NYFR will include all unsecured bank funding, adding to uncertainty
6) NYFR will only be produced for USD, when it's on its way out as the reserve currency
7) NYFR will undoubtedly be higher than LIBOR for all of these reasons

You honestly don't see the difference? Nobody actually calls it "FUCK" when you say it, it is still FCUK.

I "honestly" don't see your point. I "honestly" knew perfectly well that the pronunciation "nyrf"/nerf for "nyfr" was a bit of a stretch, but I "honestly" also found and find it amusing.

You, it seems, don't. The problem isn't dyslexia, but humorlessness.

I pronounce FCUK FUCK . . .
