Becky Quick Tells You How To Dress Like A "Financier"

Becky Quick Lucia Knight.jpgIf you haven't read all the way through the latest issue of Marie Claire yet, you'll want to slip directly to page 139. That's where CNBC anchor Becky Quick gives fashion advice to a twenty-seven year old Bank of America assistant bond trader Lucia Knight.

"Wall Street may be 95 percent men, but don't dress like one," Quick says. "But don't dress like a girly-girl either."

She also says she occasionally looked fat and garish in her early appearances on CNBC, and then immediately brags about being "petite." More after the jump.

Overnight, I went from being a financial reporter for The Wall Street Journal who wore jeans to being on-camera. I only owned one suit, and I had to safety-pin the pants. Then I bought 10 cheap, garishly colored suits that hung all wrong. I looked at least 20 pounds heavier on the air.

Get measured by a tailor, and then seek out designers who cut for your body--Tahari works well for petite frames like mine. Since your work wardrobe doesn't have to be this season, scour the outlets.

Meee-ow, Carney.

GREAT article

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 2:43PM

Becky is pretty well business dressed in a completely not-whoring-it-up way; no wonder buffet is totally into it.

Posted by mktmkr, Jun 12, 2008 2:49PM

I'd hit it times 2

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 2:49PM

Carney - This is a Bess article. Please don't post the same dumb stuff she does...

Bring back EP!

Posted by hawk99, Jun 12, 2008 2:55PM

I wonder what Bess wears on a typical day....

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 2:57PM

It's tough. On the one hand I liked EP's posts, on the other hand the vitriol she spits if you even tried to challenge one of her assertions was pretty unpleasant to deal with

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 2:58PM

@ 2:49PM Fuck off

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 2:58PM

The Becker clearly knows how to control her media exposure. Street sweetie, take note.

Also, where is becky boot fan? should be all over this.

Posted by HAM05, Jun 12, 2008 2:59PM

on her birthday and other special occasions, she wears the finest pelts of cambodian baby

hedge fund porn names are not dumb, 2:49. YOU'RE dumb.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:05PM

@2:49....STFU

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:06PM

yes. kill yourself, 2:49.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:21PM

Becky Quick is a serious PLAIN JANE ... without the serious cosmetic alterations that she undergoes before getting in front of the camera you would probably rather throw down with Joe Kernen..

Same can be said for Lindsay Lohan. Take away all the make-up, dyed hair, fashion consultants and you are left with quintessentially AVERAGE...

Posted by FUNdamental, Jun 12, 2008 3:21PM

@ 249 - please show yourself out.

I'm sure becky looked just fine in a pair od jeans as well.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:25PM

Having run into Lindsay Lohan at the pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I can definitely say you are way off 3;21. She doesn't pump those things up in the studio they are attached to her all the time!

What an enlightening comment thread.

She's right on the money re the linen. I see so many people walking around the floor in the summertime with horribly wrinkled pants, and it just looks atrocious.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:28PM

gg,
what size?

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 3:31PM

My two cents...

1) They're both too young for me.

2) Lucia should be careful. Ms. Quick's grin is that of a media hyena.

The Guy from Delaware

p.s. Erin's legs aren't even cold yet.

Too young for you?

Puberty is my cut off.

@2:55 Bess wears extra-wide sweatpants all day long.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 4:03PM

@3:59 bad dum dum. tool.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 4:04PM

3:59 = idiot

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 4:05PM

Wow...what a woman!

My only complaint is that under "Must Haves" she left out the boots! Perhaps she just sports those in the fall/winter...and on trips to Omaha to please Warren. I want to play lion with her...she can bend over and growl, then I'll slip her the meat.

Chelsea Clinton Doppelganger anyone?

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 4:47PM

I don't know, I prefer the advice given to a would-be fashion model:

"And always wear a nude Calvin Klein G-string, the industry standard."

Now, John, you've to wear clothes in proportion to your physique. There are definite dos and don'ts, good buddy of wearing a bold striped shirt.

God, I had to go to the dentist and didn't have the opportunity to tell TGFD/TOGFD how much I wanted him to go away forever and never post on this website ever again.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 6:32PM

@5:37: I hope you enjoyed your trip to the dentist, asswipe.

Posted by guest, Jun 12, 2008 6:45PM
