Where Wall Street Summers

So where do Wall Street's movers and shakers spend their summers? Everyone knows that the Hamptons is a favorite. Private equity billionaires Henry Kravis and Pete Peterson have places on the east end of Long Island, as do George Soros and oil heir David Koch. Other bold-face names (at least, Wall Street bold-face names) include Mary Meeker, the Morgan Stanley stock analyst, short-seller Jim Chanos and Citigroup executive Sallie Krawcheck.

But what about other summer getaways popular with Wall Street executives? Forbes has a rundown today of who summers in Aspen, Sun Valley, Connecticut's Litchfield and Nantucket.

I can't believe that Mary Meeker is still around Wall St and still in the stock analysis business to top it off. If I remember correctly, she and that jerk Henry Blodgett were two of the biggest tech-stock cheerleaders in late '99 and early '00, but were found out later to be just the two best-known "pump and dump" assholes of the tech-stock / dotcom bust. What a piece of shit she is.

Northeast Harbor is where it's at. The South Fork is just the East Side on the beach.

People, how about the Jersey shore? Nothing better than that.

I passed Jimmy Cayne walking down the beach of Portsmouth Island NC last week, I think. He was carrying a jumbo size bag of Funyons.

@10:58 here.

Bess, I respectfully request that you go out to the Hamptons and set Mary Meeker's house on fire. Your reaction to the recent torching of 50-cent's place gave me the impression that you might be a pyromaniac-arsonist-in-training.

How about it? Just think, You'd certainly make it a really hot summer for Mary. Haha.

What about all the movers and shakers in Charlotte? Nothing here about that classic gathering place of the Charlotte who's who - South of the Border.

The Hamptons is full of posers.

@12:55

Agreed. The Hamptons is such a vulgar display of so-called wealth it makes me want to vomit. If you really have to show (or tell) someone you're rich, you probably aren't. Seems like overcompensation for lack of ______ (Enter your expletive).

@ 12.46

I'm an NY'er, but can honestly say that the summer scene in Charlotte is pretty sweet. There is a big lake about 20 minutes outside of the city, and on weekends in the summer everyone goes to this one spot and ties up boats and just hangs out and drinks beer all day. I was out there last summer visiting a friend and there were literally hundreds of boats tied up, and countless nearly nude southern women hanging around. If you can get past the accents and the roided up Nascar rednecks its actually pretty awesome. Its certainly better than the loser wannabee rich people flaunting it on the east end.

I like Erin Burnett's stand in today, Amanda Drury, because Cramer looks like her driver and errand boy! More of her please! She's great!.

For heaven's sake don't let guest on Cramer's show, she'll look like summoning her driver for not picking her up on time.
