Don't You Dare Question My Journalistic Integrity When I'm Questioning Your Journalistic Integrity

charlie gasparinofeatured.jpgBryan Burrough's recent Vanity Fair article named many parties as suspect in the "murder" of Bear Stearns. But while Citadel, SAC Capital, Goldman Sachs, Jimmy Cayne's substance abuse problem, Corey Haim and the entire cast of Parker Lewis Can't Lose really only got quick mentions as possibilities, the pages devoted to CNBC suggested that the bitches over in Englewood Cliffs killed Kenny. Burrough writes that the network was way too quick to disseminate the rumor of a supposed liquidity problem, that a lack of "adult supervision" allowed for catty infighting among anchors and their producers over who would get the interview with CEO Alan Schwartz (and that whoever was snubbed would retaliate on-air), that David Faber, who was supposed to pose blow job questions at Schwartz unfairly fisted him instead, and that Charlie Gasparino trash talked the company, "peppered Sam Molinaro with phone calls seeking comment," and "raised the specter of a nightmare scenario."

We haven't yet talked to Faber about the five finger act that dare not speak its name, but we spoke briefly with Gasparino earlier and there are a few things he'd like you to know.

1. He never called Sam Molinaro, Sam Molinaro called him, after hearing on CNBC that Bear's PR department wasn't doing anything to dispel the rumors (being promulgated by CNBC).

2. Molinaro told Gasparino "Charlie, you and I have always had a relationship and you can call me whenever you want," to which Gasparino said "Thank you." Molinaro also told him, "I always found you to be a straight shooter."

3. Gasparino never tried to get an interview with Schwartz, and he doesn't even have a producer, thereby precluding him from taking part in the aforementioned cat fight.

4. Burrough never called him about the story.

5. Burrough "failed Journalism 101."

6. Bear went down because of its "failure to communicate with the markets."

7. If Gasparino ever meets Burrough face to face, this is a preview of what he's going to do to him:

As is this:

And this as well:

Re Gasparino: ""I always found you to be a straight shooter."

Stereotype?

Posted by EricM, Jul 02, 2008 4:11PM

Funny how much you learn about a story and sources when the media is on the receiving end.

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 4:14PM

Why are we talking about a major douchebag that no one likes (Gasparino), not even his coworkers? And why would anyone read Vanity Fair to get the 'real' story of what happened in the middle of the largest bank run we've seen in years? Both are morons that no one really likes or listens to. Moving on ...

Posted by Anal_yst, Jul 02, 2008 4:53PM

Wait, so Gasparino, isn't he the "On-Air Editor" (whatever the fluck that means), yet has no "producer"? Does that make him like a Capo in the CNBC family?

Posted by onetwo , Jul 02, 2008 5:49PM

Again, if a f-ing company can't survive a hit to their stock then the fundamentals, umm, arent there!!

ie, "Burrough writes that the network was way too quick to disseminate the rumor of a supposed liquidity problem,"

umm, there was a fucking liquidity problem! They weren't liquid!

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 6:11PM

Is that Steve Liesman in the second clip?

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 6:36PM

of course, the Vanity Fair article does itself exactly what it claims CNBC did wrong. it throws out rumors and speculation about 3 funds taking down bear. based on talks with unidentified people at bear and lehman. who's getting played?

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 7:26PM

What integrity might that be? Journalistic? Please. You stroke every story to please your source and try to make someone look bad. In fact, you're more deceiptful than Spitzer and, like him, the dead bodies will come back to nail your ass. You have the journalistic integrity of a roach. Can't wait to see Dennis Kneale (who bitch slapped your ass on more than one occassion) once again make you look like a rodent on the air. What are you going to do? Break his glasses.

Now the physical challenge you place to Bryan would correlate nicely with the pics. Unfortunately all you do is denigrate the Italian culture with your false machismo. You are a disgrace to our heritage. You speak like a gangster, behave like a gangster, and look like a gangster. Stop embarrassing yourself and your fellow Italians.

good post 4:14. check out this post on the Gasbagarumor from last night.

The dumbest mother fucker on the tube is Chuck Gasbagarumor the Wind Man - named so for the wind he breaks instead of news. "Alls he says is we brook dat story, we brook dat story" Hey asshole, you beat a press release by 10 seconds. You couldn't break a fucking window with a bulldozer.

And,despite your supposed inside scoop from croney Dick Grasso (who uses you like the insecure fool that you are), you missed the real story this afternoon. There was no mention of his suit against the NYSE. That doesn't go away (like we wish you would). What a fucking dope you are to miss such an obvious pending matter. Come on up to our trading room and we will "breaka u face".

And, for your reading pleasure, check out the posting that Spitzer put out on this moron last night at 2am from another article. ROFL. You fucking dope.

The unfortunate reality of the CNBC impact on Bear is simple- Gasbagarumor. The guy milked Jimmy Cayne for years and then turned on him like he does all of his sources. They name Russell Sherman in the Vanity Fair article. Just ask Russell or his boss Elizabeth Ventura what they think of Gasbagarumor - the dumbest human being on television. The nicest thing they will call him is snake, scumbag, liar, moron and so on. They also make a very good point. Gasbag makes stories up for his own self promotion and frequently leaves out both sides of the story for his own personal benefit. He is as stupid as he is inarticulate and every pr person in the industry refuses to deal with the thug. Ditto for their bosses. In fact, Cayne, Thain, Mack, Diamon.....Blankfein, Niederauer,Dougan,.....think he is the scum of the earth and will fire any of their people who have anything to do with him. In fact, a number of industry folks have learned that lesson the hard way. You're FIRED! Are you listening Mike Mayo????

Gasparino is a piece of shit who spreads rumors based on single sources who use him like a fucking puppet. I wait for the day I see him on street...(bigger than him...)

Faber has been scumbagging companies for years ----- he's as much of an assassin as Charlie Windbag

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 8:19PM

Charlie Windbag. Pretty good adaptation of Charlie Gasbagarumor. But he is worse than a windbag, as he claims to break news. He really breaks wind instead of news and does it with little more than sensationalized rumors.

Hey, don't be picking on Faber. At least he has some journalistic integrity, doesn't behave like a thug and can actually complete a sentence. All the shit you want to throw Gasbagarumor's way is warranted.

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 8:26PM

Four levels of lies:

Lies,
Damn Lies
God Damned Lies, and
Gasbagarumor Lies

Journalistic integrity??? ahum. sure.

Posted by guest, Jul 02, 2008 8:28PM

Hope that the publishers get the advance back. Thank you VF - we no longer need the book! And, by the time it comes out in 2011, just how relevant might it be???

Posted by Lowly Assistant, Jul 02, 2008 10:45PM

Oh, fuck of! Gasparino is pretty well versed in the underlinings of this industry. I know it pains everyone to see a local "blue collar" give insight. Quit thinking management knows the ins and outs. They were surfing the web for vacation spots while Chuck was biting a pastrami sammy yelling into a t-mobile shit-phone, "Ace pulled a king of hearts, but where did the jack of spades come from? His sleeves? I couldn't pull that shit off."

Posted by moneyman, Jul 03, 2008 9:03AM

It's so obvious that Gasparino is the only one over at CNBC that does any journalistic work. Faber has his little telecom and cable friends, okay, but that hag Bartiromo and Burnett and company are a joke. The only people worth watching are Gasparino and Claman who turned tail as fast as she could when Rupert came a-calling over at Fox Business. If Gasparino knows a good story, it's that he should go over to Fox before everyone else at CNBC tries to. CNBC is getting to be like your July 4th burger.. overcooked and tasteless.Gasparino is the only flavor worth sampling.

Posted by guest, Jul 03, 2008 9:16AM

lol moneyman. You must be friend of Gasbagarumor's. That means we pretty much know who you are. Or, you might be a relative in which case there is much greater uncertainty! lol

And if you're going to post, stick to the facts. Bartiromo and Burnett are far from "hags" and are the hotest tickets in the space. Either has more intelligence in their twat that your boy has in his entire body. Further facts = Claman's contract was not renewed and she crawled to the upstart in desparation. It's still a joke as is your boy who is destined for Fox, just like Lizzy.

Posted by guest, Jul 03, 2008 10:29AM

More importantly, Bess, how'd you come up with that Parker Lewis Can't Lose reference? Way before your time if you're only a few years out of Amherst... sweet reference though, I loved that show. Kubiac rocked.

Posted by moneyman, Jul 03, 2008 2:26PM

AHHHH, okay "guest". Do you "lack the sack" to even post under a name? Not surprising. Actually, I'm not a friend of Gaspy's altho I wouldn't mind it. Smart gutsy guy. And Bartyroma? 'not a hag'?? HA! She sure squirmed out of a scandal with old Citi Todd. Yeah, you're right i shouldn't have placed Burnett in that category. At least she's better than MB. As for hot Liz, I love when people like you talk like you know about 'her contract'. it's so obvious you're a jealous old CNBC hack (Kernen, perhaps? That you?) Learn how to spell Desperation. Desperate like say, Cavuto who now gets millions? Dang he gets more than anyone at CNBC and frankly, most guys on the trading floor these days.
go back to your cubby or whatever rock from under which you crawled.

Posted by guest, Jul 03, 2008 10:31PM

LOL MoneyMan. Ya, you got sack. What the fuck is the difference between me being a guest and you using a cover like "moneyman". My guess is that you are so fucking stupid you got no money honey! In fact, you are so fucking stupid - you might be CHUCK. With respect to Maria, you should do so well. We know you whack off thinking of her GASBAGARUMOR! lol

And get your lowly assistant to post up some more horseshit in support of your slimy ass! You're worse than Spitzer, you low life asswipe.

Posted by guest, Jul 04, 2008 5:23PM

Sounds like you two are having a little battle no one really cares about, except to say that Gasparino's reports seemed, at least to this outsider, to be less inflammatory than some of the other CNBC anchors. Either way, the team over there hopefully have learned a lesson that they really need to be careful with this stuff. I have at least 5 friends who lost their jobs at Bear. Sure would be a shame to find thru the SEC investigation that it was all for naught. Bye, I'm off to watch Fox Business. It ain't great yet, but I'd rather be early.

Posted by guest, Jul 07, 2008 1:06AM

Are you talking about the same Gasbagarumor? The dude is the by far the most antagonistic, unfriendly, hostile fuck on the tube. The above comments were accurate. The guy is as stupid as he is inarticulate. He's an embarrassment to his heritage.
