Fortress Down

drudgesiren.GIFCirca two minutes ago, all of the computers on the 47th floor of the AB building, where the Fortress Investment Group's offices are located, shut off. The TV's are said to be frozen as well. The computer situation is apparently neither here nor there to those affected, but the No TV is a BFD to the FIG employees who'd been diligently watching the British Open on TNT. According to one of the victims, in lieu of having anything else to do, paper airplanes are being made. It goes without saying that we'll keep you posted.

drudge much?

Posted by AJ, Jul 17, 2008 2:18PM

@girl: Drudge's siren is always fantastic. Sarcasm will not be tolerated.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 2:24PM

I just realized you can copy and paste it into an email. I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of that.

Posted by girl, Jul 17, 2008 2:24PM

@ AJ

You know what else won't be tolerated? Your intolerance of my intolerable sarcasm.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 2:26PM

Girl, I showed up at the Corner pub last night and you were not there..... What gives?

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 2:27PM

I'm in the same building - although at a company where the computers and TV's work.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 2:28PM

Maybe Fortress pulled the plug, there are no widespread TV or computer outages in the area.

Posted by Bess Levin, Jul 17, 2008 2:30PM

Thanks, Girl! Of course you can thank me for the sweet ass siren. Dare I double dog dare myself to show my appreciation for you taking the time to Explain The Markets to me the other night?

Anytime, Bess, anytime. You can teach me about the intriguing world of blogging; I can share with you my thought leadership on important shit like sirens, aryan youth and hedge funds (for a nominal fee equivalent to 3 makers and diet cokes), and together we'll take on the world.

Posted by girl, Jul 17, 2008 3:31PM

@ Hi My Name Is ; that made me smile.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 3:55PM

Why is it when you have "Jeopardy" on the TV in the trade room the MDs get a burr up their ass and strut around like horny prairie chickens but oh shit if you have a golf tournament on the plasma every one is cool with that?

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 3:57PM

@horny prairie chicken-- what is a burr?

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:00PM

i think the horny prairie chicken meant a spurr? HPC, care to weigh in?

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:01PM

a small man who was killed in a duel?

Posted by blndebnker, Jul 17, 2008 4:02PM

A burr is one of those brown thorny round things that fall off trees and get stuck in any kind of wool or anything.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:03PM

that doesn't sound like it would hurt that much to have in your ass.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:03PM

blind banker = granola chick??

Posted by blndebnker, Jul 17, 2008 4:09PM

@4:03pm - Maybe not hurt but I would imagine it would be quite uncomfortable to walk around with.

$4:03(II) - Are you calling me a hippie?

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:14PM

au contraire. your definition was good, but it didn't sound like you had spent alot of time around burrs, except in wool.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:16PM

blonde....why do ppl think you are blind?

Posted by blndebnker, Jul 17, 2008 4:21PM

@4:14pm - That's because I have a distinct memory of playing outside when I was a child in a wool top and a burr got stuck causing a giant snag. I, as a sensitive 9 year old, was crushed. It was my favorite sweater.

@4:16pm - I'm not entirely sure. I'm guessing they are misreading the handle. Who knows. It's DB.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:27PM

sorry about the sweater bb. I didn't mean to conjure up painful stories from your past.

Posted by blndebnker, Jul 17, 2008 4:31PM

It's okay. Thank you for your compassion.

Posted by guest, Jul 17, 2008 4:36PM

Trvia fans...
A burr is a seed or dry fruit in which the seeds bear hooks or teeth which attach themselves to fur OR CLOTHING of passing animals or people. The hooks or teeth can be irritants and very hard to get off of clothing, such as wool or cotton. It was the inspiration for Velcro.

Posted by girl, Jul 17, 2008 5:00PM

ack I hate burrs! They used to get stuck in my sweaters too. I imagine that would be extremely painful.

@ Cluzo- soon. Email me to girl.fthepolice@gmail so we can pick a bar that doesn't have jager encrusted vomit and peanut shells in the rugs.
