Supposedly Citi has instituted a “full” hiring freeze. Sort of makes sense, if they were hoping to not just break even after the recent (and ongoing!) firings, but sad nonetheless for those hoping this would be the year they’d make it to Panditville. No word on how this will effect summers’ offers.

Hiring freeze has been in place for well over a month.

Challenge.
Cursory search of Citigroup careers website shows openings in virtually (if not) every group in North America, including IB
Lots of companies keep positions on the website, even when a freeze is on. All about appearances, you see.
No summer is going to be called back.
No whining though guys. Summers should be grateful that they have got someplace to be for this summer. You could work 120 hour weeks from now on or not show up for work at Citi if you’re there for the summer — but no offers are going to be made – associates or analysts.
Sorry guys to break this news to you, but rather you hear it here first.
Just a matter of time before other banks follow suit.
Citi’s female summers need to merge with massage parlors in order to survive.
Anal, it must be the guy who maintained the careers section of their website was fired and not replaced. Also, some positions are “always open” for some legal reasons that I’m not going to get into.
Can you get into that Diablo? What legal obligation does Citi (and others) have to keep some positions “always open”? My professors teach me nothing…
equal opportunity employment and such…
I’m told that plenty of jobs have been posted today, maybe some groups have a hiring freeze, that sounds more plausable
@ Anal_yst
It’s for show.
