Purcell/Bove ’08

Ladenburg analyst Richard Bove has endorsed Phil Purcell for CEO of Wachovia. Bear with me while I gather my thoughts on the matter, and the fact that Bove instructed WB to “make him an offer he cannot refuse.” Stand by.

thank you Bess, that made my morning. Bove has officially jumped the shark.

Phil did such an awful job at MS- it would be unfortunate if he gets the opportunity to ruin a 2nd firm

  3. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 9:44 AM

Phil Purcell was one of the worst CEO I ever seen. I know this first hand when I worked at Morgan Stanley. This guy had no idea about investment banking and S&T businesses. He’s only knew about private wealth management as an ex financial advisor. Despite the fact that MS based is NYC, he lived in Chicago and flew in private jet daily to work. He’s a sort of the same breed as Cayne.

I think we should talk about how hot Amanda Drury is on CNBC and that Erin Burnett needs to be shown the door.

  5. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 9:52 AM

Are they kidding about Purcell, he doesn’t even like mayo!

    dick has lost his mind

“Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.”

“This is an extraordinarily talented individual with a skill set that matches
Wachovia’s needs. Make him a deal he cannot refuse and get this company
    going again.”

Wachovia needs to hire Amanda Drury as CEO

  11. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:06 AM

Amanda Drury has to go in bullet points:
    -Australian accent hurts the ears
-She talks a lot and quickly, making more sounds than most, hurting the ears even further
    -She’s a Bloomberg emigrant
-She’s Maria Bartiromo with a blond wig

  12. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:06 AM

you have all lost your minds if you think Drury is hot.
She’s attractive in a Maria kind of way, but in no way hot.

  13. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:07 AM

I’d like spread mayo all over Amanda.

  14. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:08 AM

amanda drury looks like a total tramp. phil purcell, on the other hand, i would take home to mom.

  15. Posted by Investorcluzo | July 2, 2008 at 10:21 AM

purcell? seriously, they guy lost the battle to mack (after thinking he had won). while a mckinsey-esq type review needs to be performed, do you really want to put someone in place who can do the study but can’t execute (that’s what consultants do anyway). why not just hire mckinsey to run some analysis and spencer stuart to find a “qualified” individual. the end.

  16. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Drury looks like Sophia Loren would have if she did ATM pr0n.

  17. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:24 AM

For a laugh, type in Bove’s office address in Lutz, FL into Google maps. Choose Street View.

  18. Posted by NSD | July 2, 2008 at 10:26 AM

Sam Israel caught in Massachusetts. how boring.

  19. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:29 AM

@ 10:24. That is because Bove has worked out of his house for years. Actually pretty sick if you ask me.

  20. Posted by NSD | July 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM

that explains why he is using charts from trade station.

  21. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:34 AM

Margaret Brennan should replace Erin. CNBC just needs to digitally make her taller / widen shoulders so that her head doesn’t look as big.

  22. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 10:42 AM

Why do most CNBC gals have gigantic heads: Betty, Eri, Margaret, the Asian chick that is not even marginally cute…

  23. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 11:07 AM

    where did punk ziegel go?

  24. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 11:46 AM

Just a wild guess, but I don’t think Mandy’s collars and cuffs are a matching set.

  25. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 12:07 PM

Ladenburg – That place is a joke, bunch of long island punks running a boiler room!
Why even listen to Bove with that name attached o his opinion???

  26. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 12:25 PM

@11:46 could just be hardwood floor so no need to match

  27. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 1:02 PM

It’s all hardwoods these days. Haven’t quite gotten used to it.
What would say for under 35 y/o.
    85%??

  28. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 1:28 PM

Richard X. Bove may have a lot of knowledge about financial institutions, but where does he get off suggesting CEOs for major institutions? No one has said that he has any actual experience in management. I think it’s the height of smugness and arrogance; but Bove has always struck me as smug and arrogant.

  29. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 2:23 PM

as i have been saying every time dick X bove comes up, he is a crazy old coot.

  30. Posted by Anal_yst | July 2, 2008 at 2:24 PM

    @ 1:28
And which analyst (esp financials, ‘cept for maybe Hintz @ Bernstein, former Lehman CFO) doesn’t stink of smug arrogance?

  31. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 2:25 PM

He has to be a crazy old coot to work at Ladenburg. It’s a chop shop.

  32. Posted by guest | July 2, 2008 at 7:51 PM

shes got the same weird ass nose as bartiromo
