Hedge fund investors in Apple are “very worried” about the health of chief executive Steve Jobs, according to the New York Post. At a conference earlier this year, Jobs appeared gaunt. Apple blamed the weight loss on an unspecified illness that required treatment with antibiotics.
Someone we know recently contracted salmonella, which was treated with the antibiotic Cipro. This resulted in weight loss very similar to that seen in Jobs. But some investors fear something more serious. Apple’s lack of disclosure about the health of it’s powerful CEO is rattling some investors. In October 2003 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a fact not disclosed for many months by the company. Apple is due to report its earnings later today.

or maybe the guy just fluctuates with his diet/exercize regimen like everyone else (albeit slightly with more drastic swings than most?)

Rumor mongering! You’ll be hearing from my lawyers soon.
I can’ wait till the google alerts crowd gets here to pillar you for posting something slightly negative about AAPL.

Yes, the AAPL fanatics are the only ones who probably beat the Ron Paul crowd in lunacy. Actually they are probably the same folks – jobless and livigin out of their parents basements – posting all day from their macbook air.
    The onslaught comes in 3…2…1…

Previously treated for pancreatic cancer? I’d be very concerned if I was his friend.

Story I read is that the pancreatic cancer surgery he had is quite extreme, and requires removal of considerable amounts of intestine. Weight loss is typical.

    a) the all cocaine and whiskey diet
    or
    2) He is entered in the Ironman triathalon

Clearly this is just the slimming effects of his all-black turtlenecks.

Remember: A faux turtleneck is called a “Dickie”.

so i took a quick look at the comments on this ludricus post, and it seems some of u wall street types just dont get it when it comes to Apple (which more then a few of you misspelled aapl…) Steve Jobs is the creative force behind what is the most successful company of this decade (ever heard of the IPOD???), and without him millions of Americans would be worse off. Any attempt to poke fun at his health situation is just horrible, and I hope you all lose money.

    AAPL is the ticker symbol.

  12. Posted by guest | July 21, 2008 at 11:55 AM

hahaha, and with 11:38′s post, they have begun to leave their mark. I think they’ll be light on ipod and mac revs…

  13. Posted by guest | July 21, 2008 at 11:57 AM

    @11:38am
since you’re on a spelling kick, it’s iPod, not IPOD.

Agreed. Really tasteless. Pancreatic cancer is among the most lethal forms you can get, with longevity after diagnosis almost always measured in months. So he is at a large multiple of the average when it comes to surviving this insidious disease. Yes, there are financial implications to his condition as he is the creative force behind the company, but he has made untold billions for his investors over the years. You would think some of them would remember this. It is possible to be a capitalist and be concerned about him at the same time without the snarkiness.

Hey guest, look at post #4…probably describes you. Btw, nice pointing out to us all that you have no idea what a ticker symbol is. I’m going to go have some carmel aapls now, peace.

  16. Posted by guest | July 21, 2008 at 12:15 PM

That *caramel apple thing was funny…and the “peace” ending to the sentence really kept things real

When keepin’ it real goes wrong…
