How To Avoid Hedge Fund Managers

Just go to New York City's hottest restaurant, apparently.

Hedge fund money doesn't talk at the Waverly Inn, the city's exclusive A-list club house that is apparently still in "beta." The menu is still marked "preview," the restaurant may never have officially opened, and they screen out Connecticut phone numbers.

Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter is still involved in the seating each night. He says he tries to avoid "any stars of reality TV and hedge fund managers. For that reason, we screen calls from the 203 area code."

I can only imagine what happens when a 718 or 201 call comes in.

Would rather live in 203 than eat at Waverly.

Graydon doesn't have a penny or two in a fund or fund of funds somewhere? Unlikely. Ass.

A careful reading makes me think a hedge fund manager wouldn't step foot in the place and that Carter's comment is reverse psychology. Menu sucks: mac and cheese and other boarding school food. Good treatment reserved only for the bold faced. Sounds like a less ladies-who-lunch version of Swifty's on the UES. Hedgies are smarter than that, plus they go to bed early. Also, Perelman is a regular. What does that tell you.

I would be shocked if the place lasts another 2 years.

How many restaurants can you water ski behind?!? How much is enough?!?

What if you're a billionaire hedge fund manager that collects art, has authored a book or two, has major interests in entertainment companies and reaches out to actors for fundraisers?

I say "F" Waverley Inn.

He's too old to be having another kid. I hope he's not too surprised when the baby looks like one of the kitchen staff.

The jealousy on here is laughable. HF's are not always the key to the castle. I ate here the other night and it was a nice meal, nice surroundings. What is the avg age of the poster on here? I am guessing 27 max.

I'm not jealous or feel less important cause I missed my shot at $55 mac and cheese.

14 - try age 24 max. No one above 2nd-year analyst reads this site.

16-- wrong but nice misplaced bitterness nonetheless.

You are forgetting everyone that comes to DB for associate pay numbers

19

Did the Waverly associate numbers come out yet?

@7 you failed to mention that the mac and cheese is with truffles and quite delicious.

Graydon's commitment to stupidity and posturing will last two minutes in this economy.

The hedge fund claim is BS. I was taken there by a friend who manges a fund. He was given a number to which he sends a text message wheneever he needs a table. He was introduced to the restaurant by a fund of funds guy. Don't know about the 203 claim. Carter should have said they don't serve rich russians.

I feel sorry for you if you are over 27 and still reading DB.

Tell me the guy on page two of this article doesnt look like a fatter Jimmy Cayne/Don Imus

@23-- why do you give a shit how old people are on this site? i couldn't give a flying fuck either way that you're under 27.

25

@23 I'm over 27 but not too old that you still can't blow me.
