And the geniuses at Merrill Lynch had to sell their stake in this cash machine just to keep the lights on.

I really wouldn't mind the additional cost if the people who work on the help desk knew anything. Used to be you'd call help and they'd actually, you know, help. Now you get some 'effin moron using that 'effin dialog box that takes forever to type stuff into and then they don't know what the they're doing.
Pisses me off.
Oh, and then some guy calls from B Berg the other day and wants to talk about foreign exch. and how he can help me. I had to tell him several times that I don't do FX - how about we just cut out some fat and keep the price where it is?

(yes, even though you can get compustat thru factset). shit actually got personal....people are such idiots. i wanted to kill this dumb bitch...who was the fucking intern at the time!!...she actually stopped talking to me b/c she was offended or something..

@5:00PM, You realize censorship of rude words is the least of your worries? Bbg forward all message content on to the NSA for sophisticated semantic analysis and data mining by farms of super computers.

Factset is so much better, the consultants actually know what they are doing.

I can probably wrangle up a couple of retro Telerate terminals for those who are in total dire straits. Comes with green screen technology (will have extensive phosphor burn-in) and keyboards with cigarette burns and 15+ year old coffee stains.
Alternatively, those with slightly deeper pockets might be interested in newer technology - a back office quote server running on a 286. Client software might not run on Windows versions greater than 3.1.

at some point, GOOG will open source streaming quotes, chart builder APIs, etc. and integrated links with their doc sharing crap, and Bloomberg will be out of business ... and if GOOG won't do it, some kid in a dorm room will

Citi only had one terminal on the 19th at 388. No one knew how to use it. Kinda funny...

factset sucks too! I think MQA with Clarifi is the best option.

@ 7:38 -
Ummm... little vague. You may want to go into more detail.

For the extra $90, will Nanny Bloomberg let me at long last again use the word "fuck" in my bbrg messages? I've started writing "fukk" and "sh1t" and "asss" in my email messages out of sheer habit. I'm a big enough ninny as it is without the taboo deformations...
