Yes. Bernie Mac has died. He had something called sarcoidosis (or sometimes just sarcoid) which is an inflammatory disease that's not well understood.
The incidence of sarcoid greatly increased in the NYC area after 9/11 and many responders are in treatment for it.
I don't know enough about Bernie Mac's life to know how we happened to get it. He was only 50.
