Sam Israel has once again seen his impending time behind bars delayed. The industry’s biggest M*A*S*H fan was expected to plead guilty today for faking his own death in June in attempt to bypass a prison stay after taking investors in his hedge fund for more than $450 million but once again received a pass, and perhaps time to plan his next, more successful escape. In August, Judge Kenneth Karas asked Israel, who is addicted to painkillers, to rank his “clear-mindedness” on a scale of 1 to 100, and after determining it was “60-70 percent,” granted him 5 weeks reprieve. Today Israel’s lawyer successfully convinced Karas that the process of weaning Israel off of fentanyl patches and birds was not yet complete (it has been determined that closeminded prison rules prohibit interspecies conjugal visits). The next plea hearing was set for Oct. 22.

Amazing. If this guy smoked a doobie on 42nd Street he’d be in prison for life.
Abscond with millions and you can’t even fake your own death into jail.
