McCain seems out of touch to me.
Better him than Obama, though it’s more one of those ‘cut off your nose to spite your face’ deals.
He actually tried to pin this on Obama. What a jackass. Blame Pelosi. But Obama is such a desperate reach.
That would be John Mc-fucking “suspending my campaign until we get a deal”-Cain.
John McCunt more like it.
Fuck. What do I do now? Vote for the retard or the douche?
At least I’m already used to a retard in office.
Obama/Biden (retards) ’08!!!
“my fingers hurt”
Yeah? well now your back’s gonna hurt McCain, you just pulled landscaping duty!
Bess Levin and you other losers with your love for Obama. Obama could take a crap on your face and you would lick it up and say ‘yum-yum, it tastes like the finest foie gras’. You would then ask him to piss in your mouth to see if it tasted like Sauterne.

Vote for McCain and odds are good you’ll end up with a retard who douches in the Oval Office anyway.
Just sayin’.

Fromm CNN : Report is that Obama requested Pelosi and Harry Reid to make the comments they did because his campaign was afraid that too much praise for the bail out would go to Bush and, by extension, McCain.
The exact line is that the Obama quote requested Democratic leadership point out that this bail out would not have been necessary without the failed policies of George Bush endorsed by John McCain and that while it addresses an immediate need it does not cure the systemic failures that those policies created.
Wow. Not this site has gone all out left wing, attacking McCain and Palin on any and everything and linking to DailyKos!!
14 Bravo. Shes like the Jerry Springer candidate.
Numbers 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13 can all go.
Someone should tell McCain that it was mostly Republicans voting against this bill.
15… do you have a link to substantiate that? I doubt it.
Fois gras and Sauterns? Delicious.
@15 And it’s true.
16 Its legit to attack either candidate on their economic views, which is whats going on here. So STFU.
8/9/10/11/13– I know this is difficult for you to swallow, but that thing in quotes? It’s what he said. I’m just passing it on.
cite your sourcs you idiots
Bess, can you post a source along with your arbitrary quote?
8/9/10/11/13
Does foie gras’ taste like chicken? If it does then I’m in!
Excellent posts!
So what, McCain is right. It is back to the drawing board. Bess Levin, you are just a dumb douchebag who thinks that if Democrats were in power they would make everything just hunky-dory. Also you are in groupthink with every other dumb as a potato UnJewish woman who think the Democratic party is your religion. You know nothing about history, economics or politics.
@24 Then they wouldn’t be idiots now would they.
@24 spell “sourcs” correctly, you idtiot
Here’s what McCain staff and surrogates were saying before the vote:
“This bill would not have been agreed to had it not been for John McCain… This is a bipartisan accomplishment, a bipartisan success. And if people want to get something done in Washington, they just watch John McCain. He’s been the guy whose name is at the top of major pieces of legislation for a long time.”
– Mitt Romney, NBC’s Today show, 9/29/08
“What Senator McCain was able to do was to help bring all of the parties to the table, including the House Republicans, whose votes were needed to pass this”
– Steve Schmidt, NBC’s Meet the Press, 9/28/08
“We’re optimistic that Senator McCain will bring House Republicans on board without driving other parties away, resulting in a successful deal for the American taxpayer.”
– McCain spokeswoman Kimmie Lipscomb, 9/26/08
‘And include a section that says I must be elected, no questions asked.’
Did you not write this, Breast Levin?
@19…it was on the Situation Room on CNN (the tv station, not the website).
So, maybe we’ll spend more time with friends and family, drink wine at home over a good meal, instead or bottle service and Cipriani’s….and we will vote with logic and compassion.
(then again every silver lining does have it’s cloud)
‘…at least I’m enjoying the ride.’

@18:
40% of the democrats voted against it, too. That’s hardly a GOP revolt.
Of course Bess is a bleeding heart liberal. Journalist who went to a NE Liberal Arts school. Pretty stupid IMO to be spouting this bs on a financial website.
Dealbreaker is now Yahoo. poor Bess.
Who the fuck wants to be the next president now?
He’ll be a one termer for sure.
@34 A bleeding heart liberal? The blood I saw today was all over the BB screen. It doesn’t exactly take Adam Smith to figure out that the system (and its shepards) are in dire need of change.

Worst election – ever.
@37: Actually 4 years from now everything should have settled down and the economy should be growing….then whoever is elected can take all of the credit for it and get re-elected
Its Yahoo because of the wack commenters. If you guys would like to expand on why you love McCain and Sarah “Flintstone” Palin, please do, but seriously the attacks on Bess are unprovoked and unwarranted towards her.
@1 Out of touch? no no no.. “wants to touch” McCain “wants to touch” you.
McCain: Epic fail.
If you take credit for a bill that is to pass the day before the vote, take the blame when it doesn’t. Douche.
41 worked at LEH…
Bess, I’ll be happy to buy you a beer for all the douchebag comments you’ve received.
44 has never held a job
epic fail is itself an epic failure of an idiom.
Put this on the drawing board

@45– how is she supposed to know who you are?
This should be politically neutral enough for Bess’s detractors:

The smelly donkey/elephant yahoos have found DB. Wonderful.
Hey Bess set up a captcha policy. Every post requires the answer to a CFA question.
Bring back the good old days of gossip, economics and insider trading info about crab hands. Shout outs to Epstein.
hilarious that the mccain supporters lose their shit over bess posting a quote of what he said.
Listen asshole who is blaming Bess for these quotes – FUCK OFF. You must not be able to read as this was McCains quote.
I fully expected to be picking lint out of my belly button on Novemebr 4, 2008 because both candidats had shown zero leadership on this issue.
That was until McCain showed less than Zero leadership and horrible judgement. From the moment he picked Sarah Palin as his VP candidate (good news is Sarah has gone to debate camp – i assume something like American Idol camp) he has been nothing but horrific.
George W Bush has been the worst president in the history of the United States. Nothing John McCain has done in the last month makes me believe that he will not be as bad or worse.
We currently have a retard for president and don’t think we can handle another one. I am not for Obama as much as i am absolutely offended by the judgement McCain has shown and with his horrific VP choice.
Bess – shana tova. You have been on fire over the last 4 days. Thank you and EP for the great job.

We’re into plan B. Still breathing? Now we gotta make the best of it, improvise, adapt to the environment, Darwin, shit happens, I Ching, whatever man, we gotta roll with it.
Wake up, this is not a political issue. Democrats and Republicans both voted against the bill. Blame the Dems for not having the votes in their own party, blame the GOP for dropping the ball. The bigger picture is we are in the middle of a financial meltdown and none of the fools that we ALL elected in Washington have less than what you may call a “firm grasp of finance”.
All of you clowns from yahoo, they want you and your shallow commentary back.
@48 I’m sorry, but I don’t speak the language of idiots.
@45
The votes were there in the Repulican party until Pelosi opened her huge mouth prior to the vote.
Perhaps you should think about blaming that shrieking banshee.
@57- Bess didn’t blame anyone in this post. she reported what mccain said. perhaps you should think about that before you comment again.
Hey McC finally threw in working people and middle class into his speech..kind of late, don’t cha think? The debate was last Friday..
@57 aww did she hurt their feelings?
@57 the truth hurts..
well look what we have here, douche bags calling bess a “flaming liberal” and “missing carney”…nearly the exact same post from…wait for it…carney:
http://www.clusterstock.com/2008/9/bailout-vote
Update (5:20 p.m.): “Now it’s time for all members of Congress to go back to the drawing board,” John McCain said in remarks on the failure of the bill today.
He made a pretty strong statement in favor of a bailout, echoing the idea that it was necessary for American families to stay prosperous.
But he couldn’t help himself from seeking political advantage, blaming the Democrats for the bill’s failure. “Barack Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame,” he said as he fixed the blame in the most partisan manner imaginable.
Couldn’t disagree with 27 more. Bess has been incredibly dedicated in her coverage and doesn’t deserve these baseless attacks.
Bess, happy new year!
Ya know, I was reading this AP article where all these House representatives were up for re-election and decided to vote according to what the constituents were telling them. (Which was, “Don’t do it!”)
Of course those with time to email or write politicians are probably not “A” plus minds to begin with.
In a way it will be good to see the royal worldwide derriere gouge that occurs when politicians (who know better and are not stupid people) listen to the average individual. As people start to get thrown out of work or see everything fall out of whack they will finally have a clue and realize that Wall Street and Main Street are faces on the same coin.
Unfortunately too many people think the world is run like Mayberry, and one thing won’t lead to another.
The DailyKos link is gone?????
Looks like the powers that be, who I presume are into making some money and not necessarily only making political points, have stepped in.
I totally agree that this site should (and always has) discussed all political issued related to the economy/financial markets. Many posts have taken political turns – with just some kind of vague initiation from the site.
But now this has become a one-sided afair for Obama/Democrats and against McCain/Republicans. 40% Democrats also voted against this bailout. And this bailout it fundamentally immoral, it is more akin to blackmail by Wall Street – we fucked up and bail us out or we’ll take you down with us.
It is upto the owners of the site to decide what they want and what they dont and I have no beef with that. What is certain is that it will impact readership. Sure, it will continue to have some people flocking (like both MSNBC and Fox have their core viewers) but will definitely lose some.
“The DailyKos link is gone?????

Sorry to disappoint, but this was a unilateral decision by me to change the link to shut you, 65, who I presume was the one bitching about it in the other thread, up.
I am blown away!!!! My on single rant was sufficient to make you take down a link that you had put up?
Wow. Just wow.
This site has been very kind to Democrats, it’s not a new thing. Basically any web outfit that attracts young, students or otherwise unemployed tards will show anti-republican slant.
Not to mention the ambitious Jewry of New York that now has to go to daddy and say my jorb is gone pappa.
68, you manage to be both a moron and anti-Semitic so early in the morning. I’m proud. Except for the fact that you either don’t read anything actually written here, or you think our comments about Maxine Waters betray our forbidden love for her.
Either way, you sound like someone from sales who got in off of daddy’s connections and thinks that cutting the top marginal tax rate is a panacea denied to us by the socialists.
