This is slightly off-topic-- if you're a one-dimensional thinker-- but is anyone here taking part in Street Wars, which starts this weekend? Interested parties would like to know.

Um, why can I not stop thinking how eventually, someone is going to take this game a little too far and actually kill someone...

This is slightly off topic too, but I recommend glancing at the article in the weekend section of today's WSJ about New York kids (suburbs included) descending upon Indiana U. Apparently the hot new place to study. It was on DB some months ago that I learned (from a poster that graduated from there) that IU is a fertile source of analyst talent for NY banks. Haven't seen any evidence of same, but still, its obviously becoming a happening place. Who knew.

A few Big-10 schools have gotten alot more NYC-area kids coming in over the past 5-10 years, some of whom then actually - believe it or not - come work on Wall Street. I know, like, gasp!
Posted by onetwo , Sep 05, 2008 3:08PM
I did it last year...good times.

@2-- NY kids going to IU is definitely nothing new. They're the ones who would've gone to University of Michigan (where tons of East Coast kids have gone for years), but couldn't get in.

@2 you mothereffingtopickchanger - stay focused. anal dont egg him on.
@1-2 any tips on how to do this while (hopefully) gainfully employed/studying for cfa?
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 3:35PM
HAM: you doin CFA? Part one I assume in December. Should be no problem for a clever lad like you. Go do street wars this weekend.
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 3:36PM
Can't make it. Trekkie convention in Montreal.
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 3:43PM
@5 Michigan State grads shouldn't speak like that. Kelley School is #11 for undergrad.
@6 Goooood-bye to your weekends! for at least the two months leading up to the test, kiss your friday and saturday nights adios. that & take the practice tests from the schweser. They're tougher than the actual test, which will make you very prepared for test day.

@9 show me a credible ranking wherein fucking indiana university is the #11 undergrad school in the country.
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 3:47PM
@10...Its the #11 school for Undergrad in Indiana.

buzz me when they stop using toy guns.
Posted by HAM05 , Sep 05, 2008 3:49PM

Would shamwow be against the rules?

@ 13: bsd's pal.
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 3:53PM
@10, Business Week had it at #10 in 2006. Strong showing by the Big-10 all around.

@ all you people who think your school is Star Fleet Academy: GTFU, fratboys.

16 MIT and Cornell have undergrad business programs?
Posted by blndebnker , Sep 05, 2008 4:00PM
I am seriously disappointed I didn't hear about this in time to sign up. I totally would have done it!
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 4:09PM
Be warned, the hipsters take this very serious. Anyone with an actual job is highly disadvantaged. It is good fun though. Anyone that is signed up, watch your back or you'll end up stuffed and mounted on my office wall.

@blonde, still room on 'team awesome' if you wanna help take out homeboy @20
Posted by Anal_yst , Sep 05, 2008 4:17PM
@ 16
Does anyone else think its awesome that business week now apparently ranks the "Drug Scene" at each school?
Posted by FUNdamental , Sep 05, 2008 4:25PM
Blnde - completely agree, I blame Bess for telling us late. I also blame high school marriage, the Gary cherone era van halen and the war on drugs.
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 4:25PM
@18- I don't think I'd call the undergrad "business" program at Cornell anything close to business...it's in their agriculture school.

Loved the Sham-Wow comment.

@Ham - that's perf because as it turns out, Awesome is my middle name.
@FUN - Me too. I rarely fault Bess for anything but I am sorely disappointed on this one. How else would I have known?
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 4:40PM
Heard about this a while on some newsletter... seriously considered getting a group together to join (yeah you can have a team of up to 5 people I believe) but I ultimately decided against it b/c some people are going to take it WAY too seriously. Great idea though.
Indiana grads can park my car in Evanston
Posted by blndebnker , Sep 05, 2008 4:40PM
@27 - You are the death of fun.
Posted by MuniShe , Sep 05, 2008 4:47PM
Jason Mulgrew blogged about it last year or the year before. Sounds like it might have been full of the socially awkward.
HAM: cfa studying doesnt have to be your whole life...

I want in if anybody has a spot on their team. I just moved here from the Chicago and do have something to bring to the table, I have a top of the line xps 2500 super soaker and am slender and agile good for sneaking up on unsuspecting targets.

@those late to the game-- why is it bess's responsibility to inform you of these things?
Posted by guest , Sep 05, 2008 5:16PM
@10, http://www.kelley.iu.edu/UGRAD/ left-hand side.
@24, I thought it was their Hotel School: Ezra. Still Top 10 or not, Cornell is bitterly cold & might be the worst party school outside of BYU's alcohol free atmosphere.

man I should be in this street wars thing. Just recently got a lot more free time, know what I mean?
