Kucinich: "Is This The United States Congress Or The Board Of Directors Of Goldman Sachs?"

Speaking of Kuciniches and shit, here's the elder K losing his this afternoon.

Also, 60 Minutes is running a bizarre little special recapping the last few days that you would expect a month or a year after the fact. Paulson and Pelosi were interviewed about the Down On Your Knees heard round the world, and they were both super awkward about it. She started out by denying it had happened, and he immediately went on the defensive claiming it didn't mean anything, that it was a joke and he was merely injecting some much needed "levity" to the situation. I'm not saying they've got something to hide. But I'm not not saying they've got something to hide.

Best part: when Paulson says that the American taxpayers are concerned about the bailout and notes that "I would be too," perhaps implying that he is not in fact a tax paying citizen, which I think we can all agree would add an interesting twist.

I can answer that, Dennis. It's a self-important collection of gutless, pandering liars, owned by special interests money who let the latest poll do their heavy thinking for them. Don't kid yourself, Dennis, neither you nor any other blowhard there in the Rotunda is GS caliber. You got your 60 seconds of grandstanding, now go back to Parma.

Why is this moron doing nothing more than repeating populist soundbites?
Why doesn't he take a look at the many companies about to go bankrupt because of their inability to refinance maturities due in this frozen credit market?
Why doesn't he think about what portion of taxes are paid by these soulless people from "Wall Street"?

Really, why doesn't he just shut up and realize that he will never be the President of the U.S.?

@4 I think he already realizes that. The guy was homeless and living in his car and now is a congressman. I think he's content with his progress in life. As for the "Goldman Caliber" it sure is easy to turn a profit when you have your old CEO rigging the system for you. There's no caliber involved, just old fashioned dealing from the bottom of the deck. This isn't even liar's poker, its three card monte.

I beg your pardon- there is no one in Congress, let alone the general populace, who measures up, in terms of sheer brute strength stupidity, than Christopher Dodd.
Why do east-coast states elect all the freaks??

Obama said in an interview (and I paraphrase) that if the bill included a bunch of other things that it does not (protection for homeowners in bankruptcy etc.), then he would support it "in principle understanding that [he] does not like it." That is more CYA sh*t than I can handle. So you support it, sort of, but if things don't work out, you can always say that it was not exactly what you wanted, and, oh, you didn't like either. Join the club asshole.

8: He also has a good looking, 30 year old, 6' tall wife. He must pinch his 61 year old gnomish skin every morning to ensure that it's real.

The suspicious timing of this bailout, coming just as GS was going the way of Bear, Lehman and Merrill, is going to keep conspiracy theorists going for decades.

@4: "the many companies about to go bankrupt because of their inability to refinance maturities"

That's why they call the carry trade picking up nickels in front of a steamroller. Sometimes the steamroller wins. This bailout is just redirecting the steamroller at innocent third parties.

Didn't Michael Lewis write that Paulson avoided paying any cap gains taxes on this divestment of Goldman Sachs stock upon accepting his current government position?? He is not a tax payer like the rest of us.
