Richard Severin Fuld Jr., people! With all this Lehman craziness, we'd almost forgotten the significance of this date in history. It's Maria Bartiromo's birthday! She does so much for us, I think we should do something nice for her. My first thought was flowers, but we are feeling sensitive about the fact that we already sent a certain Wall Street lady some stems and it didn't exactly pan out like we thought it'd would. So no plants. However, if you are down, we are proposing pooling our collective funds and buying her Lehman Brothers (though if nothing happens by Sunday night Carney and I will do it ourselves).

doubt we would even have to pool funds...
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:15PM
Chicken Marsala for everyone!
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:16PM
I'll chip in $0.05 towards the bid (which could not reach more than $1.50)
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:16PM
Seriously, that's what you say when you say we almost forgot the significance of this date in history? Poor taste Bess.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:18PM
@4 fuck off. it was mb's birthday before 9/11
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:18PM
I agree with 4...too soon
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:21PM
@6-- how is it too soon? she's 41.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:21PM
Yeah, especially when someone you know DIED. C'mon Bess!
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:22PM
I'd definitely fuck MB, bet she's a tiger in bed
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:22PM
yeah not a good one bess...
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:24PM
how is this in poor taste? has bess made fun of 9/11? no. is she not allowed to say that it is maria bartiromo's birthday? seriously people, spare us the phony outrage.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:24PM
@7
well played sir
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:24PM
Bess - that's ridiculous. Did you spend more than a minute on the "Post Comment" button before deciding... "Fuck it, let's do it live."
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:26PM
If we can't give a warm "Happy Birthday" to MB, then the terrorists have won.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:29PM
@13- jesus christ. there is nothing in this post that is disrespectful to 9/11. It is about fucking maria bartiromo. Hey, pal, if you happened to be born on 9/11, would you take one for the team and requested that no one ever recognized your birthday? that's what I thought.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:29PM
too late
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:31PM

With all this Lehman craziness, we'd almost forgotten the significance of this date in history
I think that's the part that pissed everyone off. Not the MB Bday part.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:31PM
Bess, don't take Dick's name in vain.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:32PM
cnbc headline: "Which financial stocks are the shorts pouncing on?"
Hmmmmm... I wonder...
Thank you, captain obvious!

(apologies to captain obvious)
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:32PM
@blnd-- nah, you're wrong. they'd act like sanctimonious douchebags anyway.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:32PM
do u think MB likes mayo
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:33PM
More like, it's 9/11.
Btw, Maria, Happy birthday.
Posted by beentheredonethat , Sep 11, 2008 3:34PM
LEH took out its low 3:32pm. Look out below. Sold for a buck in the morning I bet.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:35PM
Is it me or does she seem a little worn at 41?
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:38PM
@21
Nah you're wrong. I don't think I have EVER gotten righteous about ANYTHING ANYONE has ever posted on this b%tch. I've learned to ignore the ron paul, and the mayo, and shamwow? (really shamwow?) and I love me some good ole fashioned gay bashing, misogyny, and dick jokes.
This I thought was inappropriate. First time ever.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:38PM
@25-- totally, i would've guessed more like 45.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:39PM
@9 - Obviously you didn't see the dateline special last friday on Egret boy. She was commenting on the whole episode and didn't look good.
I'd have to agree with #25.
I've never understood everyone's fascination with her.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:41PM
@23- we know it's 9/11. i lost people. it sucked. we don't need to stop living our lives, and walk on egg shells on this date, though. You know, those who died are gone every single day, not just this one. I bet you don't even think about them any other day but today, and then get self-righteous if people talk about anything else.
It's like the stupidity of Valentine's day. You're supposed to express your love for your significant other every day, not just the one you're told to.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:43PM
what's sham-wow? seriously.
Posted by beentheredonethat , Sep 11, 2008 3:44PM
Kids- ease up. Some people are well over 9/11 and some people will never be. Just gotta deal with it.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:44PM
@21.......You sound like someone with a working brain in your head. Can't say that about the majority of these "psycho" assholes. Thanks 21
Posted by blndebnker , Sep 11, 2008 3:44PM
@29 - Well said sir.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:45PM
Bess is 41?
Too old, wouldn't date.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:45PM
@beentheredonethat-- I agree but also don't think we should presume that bess is or isn't "over it." People express their grief in all sorts of ways. And I don't think it would be that big of a stretch that BL might be one of those people who uses humor to mask pain.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:49PM
people need thicker skin...would have thought in this industry it wouldnt be a problem. nothing offensive in this post whatsoever.
Posted by CNote , Sep 11, 2008 3:50PM
A little hypersentive and sanctimonious, if you ask me. (No one asked, but eff it.)
Bess's comment is clearly satire, as, realistically, Maria Bartiromo's birthdate ISN'T historically significant. So to try an draw a correlation between a satirical, insignficant event, and a tragic, extremely significant event, just as justification for some kind of manufactured moral outrage, is insincere and fraudulent.
That the "It's 9-11, I have to pay homage to that date in everything I do today" thought isn't in the constantly forefront of someone's mind just speaks to their own mindset. It has nothing to do with how they feel about what happened, or how they respect the "sanctity" of the memory of the event.
Some of you may be spending the day entranced in rememberance and/or mourning, others have other ways of recognizing what happened. They're not being "disrespectful" to it, or you, in any way.
Be honest - do any of you really believe that the post was actually implying that Maria Bartiromo's birthday is more historically significant than the September 11th attacks?
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:51PM
@18 don't you see that it's a joke though...the MB Bday part is intricately related to the significance of this date part. You really are blonde aren't you
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:51PM
@35, you are right. It was BL's cry for help. She is far too sensitive to be writing anything today and I am sure she appreciates your virtual hug. douchebag.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:53PM
Eggplant parm at the Bartiromo house tonight?

Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:53PM
@38-- exactly. god you people are dense. the whole point of this post is that mb's birthday IS NOT significant. note the mocking tone?
Posted by blndebnker , Sep 11, 2008 3:54PM
@38 - DUH. Obviously. What I was pointing out was that though satirical, some people clearly don't think that it is something that should be joked about. You really are a moron aren't you?
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 3:56PM
@42-- but those people are wrong, and so are you for defending them, blndebtch.
Posted by blndebnker , Sep 11, 2008 3:57PM
@43 - Ooooh fiesty! I love it when you talk dirty to me.
Posted by diablo , Sep 11, 2008 3:59PM
It's Maria's birthday. Are some of you fools watching CNBC? It's a lovefest with cake and kisses.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:01PM
CNBC is a large part of my 9/11 memories. I remember alternating between watching Mark Haines and looking out the window at the first tower.
See them pull out birthday cake on The Closing Bell really disgusted me. She should celebrate her birthday in private. All the talking heads should. It doesn't need to be on the damn show.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:02PM
@46-- yeah! fuck cnbc, THEY ARE DISRESPECTING 9/11 JUST LIKE DEALBREAKER. (If you didn't get it from this comment, I think you're an idiot).
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:04PM
#40 - where is "Manhattan's Treadwell Farms" district?
Jonathan Steinberg is an idiot. She so cheated on him with Todd T. No kids. Why stay?
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:10PM
I am sure you all BBQ'ed on Memorial Day, drank, laughed, etc. Do you need to look up what the holiday is there for?
And don't give me the "its too soon" garbage. 7 years later you can make a satirical comment about the importance of someones birthday.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:11PM
Is it too late to order the panty-gram?
Posted by Bess Levin , Sep 11, 2008 4:12PM
@50-- 4 steps ahead of you.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:14PM
48 Lower east 60's. Those blocks between Lex and Third with all the nice townhouses.
Posted by CNote , Sep 11, 2008 4:17PM
...you know, by all the farms.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:17PM
Number 46 & 48......My express thoughts exactly. You both got it.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:18PM
Did she ever do one of those "Got Milk?" ads..?
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:19PM
#49 - there's a difference between a satirical comment (appropriate IMO) and the cake on the show.
The comment called them out on something they did that was stupid.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:20PM
53 Read the sign marking the historic district, next time you leave Bloomingdales. Or are on the way to Scores. It was a farm.
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:23PM
DB = Finance, satire, good humour during work hours jadda jadda jadda
bunch of zealots trying to go back 7 years...for freakin sake everybody suffered life goes on pals!
cucumber a parmegiana for MB!
Posted by guest , Sep 11, 2008 4:34PM
52, 57, #48 here. Thanks. I worked in the Citicorp Center, am unfortunately way too familiar with Bloomingdale's and that whole area, but cannot ever remember seeing mention of "Treadwell" anything. Good to know. Huge traffic in that area, esp. crosstown. But a decent Equinox if you can get through the crowds.

Read #48 second line and remember all the news coverage and Newsweek and other print in January of 2007. Mariagate coined by someone?....but, they tried calling it a relationship. The above #48 describes it correctly. Some things stick in your craw for a long time........
