We all know that Sarah Palin gave the Best Speech Ever last night. But how does she stand on economics and the issues facing Wall Street?
We turned to a Republican party insider for some clues.
"Palin is the most libertarian candidate we've had in ages. She's a deeply committed tax-cutter. She believes tax cuts boost the economy and believes that individuals spend more efficiently than government. Think Steve Forbes in a skirt," he said.
Our insider, who asked not to be named, also said Palin represents a clean break from the spend-thrift Republican machinery that dominated the party for years. "She genuinely wants smaller government, a government that does less not more," he said.
What about issues such as mortgages, the Federal Reserve, inflation, Fannie Mae and international trade?
"She's not up to speed on those but they're briefing her. She's got all the right instincts, and isn't in hock to the housing and banking lobby, which is a refreshing change," he said. "But we'll have to stay tuned."

Palin raised local sales taxes when she was mayor of Wasilla, to pay for an ice hockey arena that's still being subsidized by the Alaska state government. And in 2007, Palin slapped a windfall profits tax on oil companies pumping in Alaska (amounting to about $49 on a $120 barrel of oil).

I really hope that there is more coverage of her pork-barrel spending and corruption when she ran Wasilla and drop the whole teen pregnancy crap. She turned a small-town Alaska mayoral race into a forum to bash abortion rights and the like. She is an extremely ambitious woman who knows exactly what she's doing which is advancing her career. She couldn't give two shits about the lower-middle class woman or anyone else. As long as she can push her agenda.
And not for nothing, but I'm sorry, I don't see marrying your high school boyfriend because you got knocked up a necessarily noble thing to do. The conservatives are heralding this as the right family-oriented decision to make. I'd say it's more stupid than anything. The reason why gay marraige isn't even close to a hot button issue as abortion, is because states have been dealing with gay marraige. Unlike with abortion (Roe v Wade), it made abortion a federal issue. Now that abortion is a federal govt issue, it's on a slippery slope, where it's probably easier to federally ban abortion than it was for Roe v Wade to federally allow it.

An emerging issue that will plague obama is his diffulty with the concept of 'moral equivalency'.
obama sees a moral equivalency between the positions of radical islam and the West, between the Isralies and the palistinians, between the Russians and the Georgians, between the terrorists and the victims, between the economy and the environment, between Rev? Wright and Rev. Pat Robertson, and on and on.
This issue alone will make for a confused and indecisive obama presidency. He will think too much and be paralized by too much indecision.
Last night Mayor Gullianni pointed out that obama (after consulting with his 300 national security advisors)said, "the situation between Russia and Georgia should be referred to the UN Security Council and that an obama administration would stay out of it." Guilliani added that neither obama nor the 300 advisors seem to be aware that "Russia has veto power in the UN Security Council".
"Moral Equivalency" will eventually unravel the obama campaign. This guy obama cannot make a decision. Right vs, Wrong is always a moral issue, and someone who has a problem distinguishing between the two should never be president.
obama's other drawbacks...inexperience, empty-suitedness, islamic sympathies, socalist tendencies, and being black all place behind his 'moral equivalency'.
For me, obama's 'moral equivalency' is his biggest disqualifier.
Talk about Palin's "inexperience" and the possibility of a Palin presidency in the event of a McCain absence?
With obama, we'll have an inexperienced, naive, empty suit who can't make a decision in the Oval Office on the very first day.
I would much rather have Sarah Palin in the Oval Office every day than have barrak hussein obama in there for even one day.

Only, say, Ahmadinejad would say that, and even then not sincerely. The moral outlook that Obama's statement reveals should have torpedoed his candidacy, but instead it's a minor factoid.
You'd also think he'd have been eliminated after insulting about half the country, or even trying to relate to Joe Average by citing the price of arugula at Whole Foods, but at this point someone could find a dead hooker in Obama's trunk and it would mean one day of bad press.

The campaign is just starting to heat up now that the conventions are over. Watch and see what happens.
Biden's appeal to "Joe Average" will fail once he starts to sound off on national prime-time TV.
obama is in trouble. The pass he gets from the press/media will last only so long.
The actual voting citizens will be heard on Election Day. obama will then go the way of McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry. You'll see.

@99 - Indeed this is idiotic. Yes, a judgment can be an opinion. But you and I both know that was not the context I was using it in. While I disagree with the choice, I do not judge the Palins for it. I don't think they are stupid, bad, etc. I just think that the DECISION they are making is not wise. You are clearly just in this for the sake of argument since you have absolutely not response to the merit of my statement but rather to pick it apart on grounds of word usage. 113 Probably not, but seriously: I'm wondering what hockey boy is gonna be doing to support the three of them. The choices for someone without an education are typically pretty slim. Maybe a job at the local supermarket for a little more than minimum wage and certainly no paid healthcare included. Maybe Alaska's different - is it possible there for a man to work with his hands and back and support three people? Could be why everyone is so blase about the practical aspects of the baby thing. Dunno.
