Which alternative asset manager only pays his babysitter $12/hour? Clearly times are tough for the once mega-successful financier but if he thinks the vast array of snacks and opportunity to see the infamous ice smoother up close and personal make up for such an insulting rate, he is sorely mistaken.

  9. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 2:32 PM

Guess that’s what makes him good at what he does. If i’m not mistaken, being a shrewd, penny-pinching prick is an asset in his line of work.
In your personal life, it just makes you an asshole.

    somebody fucked him?

    @ 10
Thats true, until it isn’t. Flexibility is where its at (insert perverted/off colour joke here)

$12/hr babysitting isn’t that bad. More than a teenager is making working at the local fast food joint or grocery store and probably a hell of a lot more comfortable and tax free.

  13. Posted by Bess Levin | October 31, 2008 at 2:54 PM

@13- are you kidding? I made 20/hr when I was a babysitter and that was like 6 years ago.

  14. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 2:55 PM

    @13
“Tax Free”..?!? There’s no way on earth he’s not deducting / claiming it.

  15. Posted by KLW | October 31, 2008 at 2:58 PM

@ #13–$12/hr may be good money in the Midwest, the going rate here in New York is more like $15. If that’s what you’re paying your babysitter, she probably hates you.
Related: the only reason to babysit for obnoxiously rich people is because they can afford to pay you more than average. Crazy rich people and their fucked-up kids are the absolute worst.

I only pay my sitter (in Southport, CT) $12 an hour and you know why?
    Two reasons:
    1. Because I can
    2. Because she asked for $13

  17. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 3:03 PM

Yea but what about the $1000 she makes for giving him some good night head.

@ 13, yeah, but that kid’s dad was prolly in full “American Beauty” mode…

  19. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 3:06 PM

@17- and that’s why she hates you and calls you a cheapskate to her friends.
stiff people who do stuff like paint your house, people. not the ones you leave in charge of your children.

@ 14, yeah, but that kid’s dad was prolly in full “American Beauty” mode…

  21. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 3:08 PM

I don’t pay my babysitter; she pays me with blow jobs

  22. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 3:19 PM

@14 BL, that poor baby would have never looked at the world in the same way after you were done with him/her.
That said, I’m not complaining about your snarkiness and withering sarcasm on DB.

  23. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 3:33 PM

why just not get a nanny?

  24. Posted by Anal_yst | October 31, 2008 at 3:34 PM

    @ KLW, etc
Also, if you stiff your babysitter (no pun intended, although its there regardless) chances are when you’re not home she ain’t the only one enjoying your home and all the fun stuff you’ve got in it…

  25. Posted by Bess Levin | October 31, 2008 at 3:39 PM

@23- I wasn’t saying I was an outstanding babysitter (and in fact I was probably pretty bad). I was pointing out that 12/hr, in 2009, is cheap.

  26. Posted by KLW | October 31, 2008 at 3:44 PM

    @ Anal_yst
My god, the naked photos and sex diaries and poorly hidden pornography I could tell you about. But I would never be irresponsible in a family’s home or do anything to endanger the moral fiber of your children. Blackmail only endangers the adults.

Where is David Mooney going following Newfinance?

  28. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 5:56 PM

No disrespect here Levin, but $12 is a decent rate for the state of the economy we are in. Now, the real issue here is that Steve Cohen has SEVEN children. Taking care of all seven of them for $12/hour may be pushing it. Yet it’s still better than blowing johns in Guadalajara.

  29. Posted by guest | October 31, 2008 at 7:41 PM

doesn’t he have like 8 kids to boot?

  30. Posted by Cincinnatus C | November 3, 2008 at 5:21 AM

Bess, I’ll pay you $25 an hour to babysit me.
