The variety show continues:
12:02: Some representative, I'm not sure who, just said that "We have to clean up the mess made by the boy geniuses on Wall Street." (He's voting for the bill).
12:05: Representative from Ohio has a problem with the fact that there was no science behind coming up with the $700 billion. (He's voting Nay).
12:15: Representative 'Hank Paulson Is A Day Trader': "Do you like having a herd of Bears and Bulls attacking you? They are." She's voting Nay again, and concludes, "Pray for our Republic, SHE is being placed in greedy hands."
12:17: Hey-ooo, guess who doesn't want to "reward bad behavior on Wall Street"? Representative Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO).
12:22 Ron Paul: you can't "paper over the problem." We are going to prolong the agony...by passing this bill.
12:35: Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC)-- Perhaps when trying to get people to see this as a "Main Street" as opposed to "fat cat" problem, you shouldn't say "This is not just about Wall Street...this is about Broad Street."

Ron Paul has been right for years, and his predictions are finally coming to fruitiion.
Posted by guest , Oct 03, 2008 12:47PM
Ron Paul is a wingnut.

Steny Hoyer (D-MD): "Hey guys, we should do this thing. I mean, Warren Duffett, I mean Buffett, he said.. HE SAID IF WE DO IT RIGHT, if we do it RIGHT, we will MAKE A LOT OF MONEY! So let's pass this bill."
Wow, really? Thanks Steny.

@8
That's because his policies are economically sound. It never fails to amaze me how people (including the genius financiers that frequent this site) seem to believe that they can ignore fundamental economic law.

Speaking of Broad, does anyone know what the deal is with the location on Mount Lucas Rd. in Princeton?

@11
you're kidding? he said that? from someone who has a conflict of interest? what the buck?
Posted by guest , Oct 03, 2008 12:56PM
Boehner just said "remember the words IN GOD WE TRUST - cause we're gonna need him"
great... our congress is reduced to begging God to save us from this fiscal problem. best of luck.
Posted by RAW DOG , Oct 03, 2008 1:01PM
@15 - Of course he said that. Does it surprise you that House members even the MAJORITY LEADER is that obtuse?
Posted by Investorcluzo , Oct 03, 2008 1:03PM
omg - pelosi can't speak to save her life, someone get her a teleprompter, this is embarrassing! on a positive note, she sounds more "bi-partisan" today.
Posted by diablo , Oct 03, 2008 1:04PM
From the speeches, it looks like there are 10 switchers from NO to YES. So they need a handful more. I'd say they are getting this passed.
Posted by guest , Oct 03, 2008 1:07PM
Pelosi is the devil.. the ultimate in partisan hypocrisy... she just said that "earlier in the week the Bush Administration pushed forth an unacceptable bill and we rejected it in a bi-partisan manner" - even though she voted for it!

Anyone want to bet when Bailout 2.0 is going to be pushed? I'm assuming the vote today will be affirmative.

Appropriate venue, any ideas?

Oh, oh, looks like someone else is also naming the next Bailout as Bailout 2.0?
"Has the bailout already failed?"
