    I’m a hedge fund manager, what is Dallas?

  2. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:01 PM

    Do they wear cowboy hats to work

  3. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:05 PM

    Not sure about cowboy hats, but apparently they wear Hawaiian shirts to work. For realz.

  10. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:24 PM

    10 That’s called an ear worm.

  11. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:26 PM

    It was bound to happen because in the end there can be only one….

  12. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:27 PM

    Offices where people wear guns on their hip are always more interesting places to conduct layoffs.

    12 Its worth repeating: McCain lost all credibility when he chose Palin as a running mate. She’s totally out of her element. A charming, but empty headed woman. A good host maybe on The View, but not VP material. Since then its been no contest.

  15. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:35 PM

    @15 ’cause having a socialist president who had his law school funded for by muslim extremists/terrorists will be great for this country. ugh.

  16. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:40 PM

    @16
    Don’t despair
    Canada is quietly lowering taxes and cutting healthcare (a failed experiment).
    With global warming on the way and tons of natural resources, it may become a great place to live.
    Away from third-world socialism and under the British Queen.

  17. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:40 PM

    I’m an immigrant here in the US, so I might not entirely understand the US culture, but did anyone else besides me found it odd for Palin to show up on Saturday Night Live? The little credibility she had with me vanished after seeing her there.

  18. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:43 PM

    18 All candidates make an appearance there and are gently ribbed (that means made fun of). It shows they’re good guys, regular folks. Not a supporter of her at all, by my take on it was that’s she’s a good sport, real person. Which could get some votes.

  19. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:45 PM

    19 Going home so early? You must not be an analyst, otherwise you would have hours of a little spreadsheet humping and a lot of face time ahead of you, followed by dinner on the firm and maybe if you stay late enough a black car home. Where you can then tell your rommates how hard you work.

  20. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:48 PM

    18 – both prez candidates have appeared, its become norm, weirder that Biden hasn’t actually.

  21. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:53 PM

    @16 are you crazy or just stupid?

  22. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:54 PM

    @22
    No, you are blind AND stupid.

  24. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 5:57 PM

    @20
    Had to come back — forgot something.
    To your point, you are correct. I am not an analyst, nor do I have roommates.
    Keep up spreadsheet humping.

    I must say, although the turmoil has poisoned each and every shop in the city, it’s refreshing we’re all still making fun of each other’s position and talking shit regarding, “Shine my shoes, pussy! Pick up the beamer and give ‘er a good waxin’!” I wonder what percentage of the DBer crew is actually still employed?
    Can we get a poll to obtain such numbers? Curiosity fed the cat a saucer of milk, and gave it a little rub behind the ears.

  27. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 6:10 PM

    Let’s start with you, Lowly. Employed of late?
    What’s all this cat shit? Are you a woman?

  28. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 6:11 PM

    @27
    STFU and park my maserati.

  29. Posted by Lowly Assistant | October 22, 2008 at 6:23 PM

    28 – yes
    29 – you told me the keys were in the glove box, but all I see is a bag of ruffies, a Direct Loans receipt signed by your father, and one of your business cards with a scribbled “1-800- SUI-CIDE” on the back. Please advise.
    P.S. I apologize for your coffee being late this afternoon, but I b-lined into the Winter Garden for a hot totty and some FBN Cody Willard car-crash candy. Thanks for letting me borrow your AMEX.

  30. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 6:25 PM

    @Lowly
    You must indeed be a lowly assistant to have so much time to write these long posts.
    Hope your boss gives you some good spanking every once in a while. Now that bonuses are over, that’s all you’ll get honey.

  31. Posted by Lowly Assistant | October 22, 2008 at 6:28 PM

    @28, sorry for the abiguity. Employed. Cats are good peeps. I’m a guy who’s usually hungover. If we work at or near the same shop, I usually have dark circles under my eyes. Holla at your boy.

  32. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 7:52 PM

    Here I sit,
    Cheeks a-flexin’
    I just made
    Another Texan.

  33. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 8:43 PM

    as they say in Texas
    they are not lapels unless you can see em’ from the back!

  34. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 9:20 PM

    @29 – stop with the Maserati references. Anyone who has taken a semester of Italian knows that it means D-bag with calf implants.
    And fuck Highland Capital! Don Ho made more money wearing a Hawaiian shirt and working fewer hours.

  35. Posted by guest | October 22, 2008 at 9:38 PM

    You know what the difference between a pigeon and a hedge fund manager is?
    -
    The pigion can still make a deposit on a Maserati.

    oh you guys and your jealousy…you keep the ugly women and taxes.. we’re happy to secede from this shit show whenever you’ll let us.

    Just don’t ask me what “precondition” means.

  38. Posted by Sarah Palin | October 23, 2008 at 2:15 AM

    What is a “precondition”?

    Mad respect lol..
    So, #29.. can i use your AMEX next?
    Better be AMEX black, cause this bitch is expensive.

    Highland is totally screwed. If 80% of the market has used anywhere from 3- 15X leverage to buy this stuff, adios asset class

    Majority of Highland’s CLO biz is not subject to market-value. However, it is a good bet that its hedge fund and retail biz is toast. 50 souls gone yesterday…more today?

    Really hate that Jim, Pat, Joe, Jason & co. are getting back what they’ve been giving for so long-almost makes me conjure up a tear! They still have enough personal reserves of blue haired grandmas’ money in a decade of skimmed management fees that they won’t have to stand in a soup line. Just have to pull a little green out those Cayman and Bermuda accounts for the low end Porsches. The Highland Pawn Shop will remain open with their three collective balls hanging outside.
