Morgan Stanley, What's Happening There?

So, we don't have a clue what's going on with Morgan Stanley or why but it's down about 35 percent. Any ideas? Let us know.*

Update: Loudest rumor is that the Japan deal won't go through.

Many hedge funds use MS as their primary clearer. Instead of fleeing MS for a better bank to do the job, hedge funds do what they do best: HEDGE. That is to say, they short the heck out of MS stock. So in case it becomes another Bear, HFs' frozen funds will pale in comparison to the massive profits they will collect upon MS's collapse.

38

Posted by guest , Oct 07, 2008 2:15PM

MS isn't going to become another Bear. They're regulated by the Fed now, as a bank holding company. They're not going anywhere.

Bonuses. Are you kidding?
