This Is Not A Lot To Ask

Okay, I've lost it. This hearing is bull shit and I'll tell you why-- you should not be allowed to ask questions about 'LEE-MAN BROTHERS' when you pronounce it 'LAY-MEN BROTHERS.' This is not a highly restrictive barrier to entry and yet few if any Congressman can get it right. I've been told I'd be putting Dealbreaker in a sticky situation if I called in a bomb threat as a means to put an end to this crap so instead I'm starting a list, and will obviously be updating it through out the day, of leaders who should be shamed in the streets and whose constituents should seriously think twice about re-electing. I haven't been keeping track because they have mostly all failed at this task o' the tongue but here's who I can remember wanting to strangle at the time. If you can recall others, please add.

Henry Waxman
Dennis Kucinich

Bess,

your infatuation with this issue is fascinating. But could we have more news on the market, which is down over 5% today, and less postings on congress' ability to correctly pronounce a bankrupt i-banks name? I get it, it bothers you, but you're readers could be better served if you diverted your attention and passion elsewhere.

K, thx

I have pictures of them in front of federal hall but don't know how to get them to the team at Dealbreaker

36

Posted by guest, Oct 06, 2008 2:23PM

It's spelled Lay-man, why should anyone pronounce it otherwise?

37

Posted by guest, Oct 06, 2008 2:23PM

Bess, c'm on..they call it Eye-rak still and we've been there how long?

38

Posted by guest, Oct 06, 2008 2:35PM

fuld if you cry I'm taking the poster of you off my ceiling

39

Posted by guest, Oct 06, 2008 2:36PM

@2 I think it's worth directing some attention to this pronunciation issue, since it's really solid evidence that these lawmakers have like ZERO familiarity with Wall Street. Like less than your average sophomore Business major at a third rate college. The markets are rightly terrified that we're relying on these people to come up with effective interventions in the current market crisis. If ridicule helps push clueless legislators to the sidelines faster, and gets the fixit assignment delegated to the sort of people who'd actually heard of Lehman Brothers before it collapsed, this would be a good thing for the markets.
