Who wants to bet GSAM is one of the asset managers selected?

It will be PIMCO. Who else can meet the minimum asset size requirement? Request for proposals (RFP) usually give asset managers a month to pull together something. In just giving 2 days, they already know who they want. Paulson just wants to make it look like other people had a chance.

Small and Minority- And Women-Owned Businesses.
The Treasury will issue separate notices, consistent with these procedures, specifically to identify smaller and minority- and women-owned Financial Institutions that do not meet the minimum qualifications for current assets under management in the initial notices. Such Financial Institutions will be designated as sub-managers within the portfolio.
Natch.

Did we hire the Nazis after defeating Germany?
Did we hire the Japs after Nagasaki?
Did we hire the Sunnis after GW II?
What kind of world do we live in where the guys who currupted our financial system get to sell their lousy assets and then get paid to manage them...
