Thought you guys should see what America is posting. From Michelle Malkin's site, the comments section:
"On October 2nd, 2008 at 12:48 pm, madchef said:
The folks that benefit most from the bailout, Wall street, banks, CEO’s and congress critters are able to manipulate the markets up or down in order to scare voters into this bailout. However, they were unable to influence the asian markets on monday. Congress tried to scare us into expecting a total melt down but it didn’t happen. If the house defeats this bill again, I predict that the next big drop in the market will come on Monday Oct.6th, the day after the temporary ban on Short Selling expires.
Don’t fret, as it will go back up on the 7th, further proof that they are trying to trick us."

That is awesome! At this point I don't give a fuck about mom and pop. Let those dumb motherfuckers burn.

Hey #5, you have to know what they are saying and thinking in order to splain it to em.

About the job, can I get a love contract for Bess and EP prior to working there... Don't wanna get caught without one...

Lat, this site has been the best source of financial news, hands down, over the last four weeks. Plus it comes with a good side of snark and intelligent commenters. If you screw up the hiring of the new DB writer as badly as you did hiring Elie to run ATL, you should just go back to being A3G.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:25PM
BofA poised for shut down.
Trust me Joe Six Pack believes this shit. Who remembers the piece 20/20 did on Procter & Gamble in the mid 80's about them having a satanic symbol on their products and their CEO avowed his personal allegiance to Satan
These fucks will believe anything.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:28PM
If you read the website it basically reads like one of those emails telling you that Microsoft 9pr Bill Gates) will give you $0.01 for every person the email gets forwarded to, or how to hit oil companies by not fueling for a day. One step up from the Nigerian money men, but if you believe this I have a bridge in Alaska you may be interested in purchasing.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:31PM
You are totally irresponsible for spreading fear and panic for your own self-interest. Who do you think you are - Jack Welch? Warren Buffet? CNBC?
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:42PM
Muriel Siebert will save us! She saved the NY banks in the 1970s as SOB - Superintendent of Banks (huzzah!).

Why does Deal Breaker have a picture of Henry Blodget on their website? Several for that matter.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:54PM
@10 - I had this forwarded to me as a haha by 3 different clients of mine today.
What scares me about this is joe six pack can't figure out that how the branch manager could be informed of this today yet the signs came in last week?
What pisses me off is the stupid people who believe this email have the same vote as i do.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 7:55PM
i guess it's meant to be a joke, but shouldn't that kind of article [daily paul] *not* get a boost in circulation right now?

Botox everyone?
Oh, he just said "it's complicated". Joe, you should know better.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:37PM
Guys. Non-US here. Do Americans actually believe this shit?
There is no clean coal unless you want to spend trillions of $ inventing it. Why is this even a debate issue? No one's leaders are perfect but sounds like you have to choose between a liar VP (Biden) and a retard VP(Palin).
Fucked up choice if you ask me. UK's not perfect, but do us proud!!
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:40PM
Actually #36, there are engineers working on clean coal technology and they have been for a while.
Discovery did an entire program on the subject.
How much is that cup of coffee in the UK? And how much will it be when you can't expense it?
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:43PM
@ 36 - I support retarded babies so I am voting McCain/Palin '08. Welcome to America!
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:46PM
@37 - simply because we have an abundance of coal does not make it economical to pump that CO2 back into the ground at a cost that even compares to that of oil.
I read the economist. Suggest you do the same to balance against New York Observer bullshit
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:46PM
Botox has fucked up Bidens face - it is funny that he can not move his forehead (mind you neither can sarah palin).
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:48PM
I just pulled my Cash out of BoA and bought 100 Kilos of pure coke.
I figure that a safe investment. Thats the last thing the government will ever nationalize.

OK, no offense to Jews (especially BL) but why do they have to debate over who loves Israel more?
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:57PM
@44-- b/c it's a key vote. a ton of jews who you would think would go democrat vote republican because they support israel.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 9:57PM
Why don't the hair plugs match the rest of his hair? And why did she do the tin foil on her hair? It looked nice one color.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:02PM
OK I'm going to have to refuse to vote for either out of principal and write in Tony Blair*
(Also, please amend the Constitution to allow Tony Blair to serve).
-Sincerely,
Not British but come on, these two are either:
A) Retarded
B) Liars
C) Full of shit (related to B)
D) Dickheads (A, B and C combined)
E) All of the above
Also, there is no clean coal and fuck Israel. Not our problem.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:05PM
Isn't Tony Blair teaching at Harvard?
And now a Catholic?
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:06PM
@48 - Yes, and Yes. But he's a better leader than either fucktard A or fucktard B
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:07PM
Would someone tell these guys not to do stuff to their hair the night before the debates. I mean Barack colored his hair and then borrowed Charlie Rangel's hair gel and now these two look different. It is just distracting. And McCain's hair was different for the debate too.
Stop with the hair already guys.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:08PM
OK Yankees - Would you rather have a VP who deliberately lies about facts (Biden) or a VP who simply doesn't know the facts (Palin)
Vote or Die 2008 MTV Style!
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:09PM
#49, everyone likes Tony Blair.
These two aren't so bad though. The lines on the bottom say people like them.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:11PM
Holy shit - he just made another OH reference....everyone do shots!
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:19PM
Did Joe say he is hangin out at the Home Depot with the regular guys?
Now, let's see, will he mention walmart and the food lion?
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 10:22PM
Joe doesn't invest in the market? His total investment is his house? Joe your house is losing value as we speak.
I guess the Senate has a great retirement plan.

I'd have thought the banking shutdown story was rumor as well - until I came across it on an entirely different site - Financial Sense. (http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/willie/2008/1002.html)
They're very reputable - not the usual CNBC clowns, but actually guys who know what they're talking about and actually saw this mess coming years ago. That makes me think there may be some truth to it.
Posted by guest , Oct 02, 2008 11:05PM
@58
It's true. Come on, times had a recent article that states that Ben wants to enforce bank holidays after the mm funds broke the buck. But they chose not to as they don't want to cause further panic and thus, they went to congress to get approval for the bailout instead.
But now, as we can see from credit market reactions, we know that the market does not believe that the bailout will fix the problems.
So i'm sure ben has been revisiting the bank holidays option.
I'm betting on Ben's balls that it'll happen.
I've stashed out my end.

money market funds are dollar for dollar mutual funds which seek to maintain a NAV of one dollar, while maximizing returns to investors, while investing in safe and and stable securities backed by the U.S Government.

@58 -- All quotations seem to point to the same source: Jim Willie, CB, "the Golden Jackass" Editor, Hat Trick Letter.
Regardless if that particular rumor holds any truth -- my fellow Europeans seem to be getting cold feet and/or preparing for the worst, according to Reuters:
"The leaders of Italy, France, Britain and Germany are scheduled to meet in Paris on Saturday and will discuss the outcome of the vote and measures to deal with the already damaging consequences of the credit crisis for Europe."

"Since the Bear Stearns bailout, Treasury and Fed officials had discussed what a broad government intervention might look like. Although there were suggestions for a “bank holiday” — a temporary, nationwide closing of banks, which had not been done since 1933, to stem panicky withdrawals — Mr. Bernanke and Mr. Paulson dismissed the idea, fearing it would do far more harm than good by scaring people needlessly."
