I had to go with the date auction bit. Too precious.

Surprised you didn't have "JO&C" as one of your options as the Fed is seemingly running out of their own.
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:17AM
@3- that's the bankruptcy option
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:26AM
That "One Night with Bernake" idea has some legs. Flesh that out some more.
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:29AM
@5 - I think it should be "One Night, Two Bankers" and throw Paulsen in there. That'll get you a tril.
Posted by prgy , Oct 29, 2008 10:45AM
@ 6 I agree. This morning, I had a bowel movement in the shape of the state of Idaho.

100bps

Option 8: Ask the Treasury for a bailout

@5, The theme song for the event would have to be a modified version of "One Night in Bangkok."
"One Night with Bernanke makes a hard man humble, not much between despair and ecstasy."
Damn, going to have that song in the head the rest of the day now.

I voted for 75bps because there is no option for 100bps.
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:52AM
@6 - I'd prefer "Two Bankers, One Cup"
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:55AM
@12: Today, it should be "Two Bankers, One Cut"

Can somebody tell me if back office guys get bonuses?
I was previously in research but was given the boot. Just wanted to make sure there are bonuses in good times for backofficers before I contemplate applying there.

Menage a' beard.
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 10:59AM
@14: there was someone posting here a couple of weeks ago saying he'd been turned down for back office b/c he had no experience there. just fyi
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 11:10AM
@16
But yeah, bonus numbers?
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 11:17AM
@17: In case you haven't noticed, business is really slow. You ain't going to get a bonus when there's no business, and when management knows you have no other place to go. massive backoffice layoffs already from JPM/Bear, LEH, etc. - remember Econ 101 supply and demand? Do you need someone to tell you when there's no business and lots of unemployed qualified people eager to work, that there are little to no bonuses?
Start thinking about JOB, not bonus. If you have a job, you're lucky. At this rate, if you have a second or third round interview, you're lucky.

@14--we get big bonus esp in IT. we know where everything is, so, yeah, back office is where its at. I make mid 6 figures and got a 7 figure bonus last year, our bonus pool is up 25% this year because all the ivy league clowns wont get squat. hahaha......some banker chick was here last week and showing cleavage too as we talked

If I get my vote right do I get a mug?

Wasn't yesterday's run up in the final 60 minutes pricing in 75 beeps?
Fed cuts:
50 - DOW drops 700?
75 - DOW spikes 250 and sells off 500?
100 - DOW drops 450 and sells off 1000 end of the week?
SDS 2PM chicken in the oven?
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 12:23PM
21 here. It should be
100 - DOW spikes 450 and sells off 1000 end of the week?
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 12:50PM
50 bps is priced in. To get the surprise stimulus you need 75. Gotta get that dollar down (up 18% L3M).
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 1:24PM
@21, Buy SDS at 2PM??
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 1:24PM
Its strange... If the Fed cuts 75, I think I'd be more worried. (read: more willing to sell).
Now that we're this low, it be a sign that things are really fucked up. The Fed is getting next months numbers now...
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 2:04PM
There should have been two polls.
What will the fed do and what has the market priced in.
SPODE
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 2:25PM
@24 87.52 2'is o'clock. Market priced 75 end of yesterday. Cook it!
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 2:32PM
@19

@27, #24 here. I "cooked"?? it at 2PM & bought SDS at 88.59. We'll see what happens.
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 3:04PM
@30--you'll probably have a margin call, but, you can deduct part of it from your taxes..hahaha
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 3:04PM
@29: at least #28 HAS a girlfriend. If you had one, you wouldn't be panting and listening in on someone else's
Posted by guest , Oct 29, 2008 3:07PM
@32--well, I know your computer id, so I know you're looking for a job, cruise porn sites and are always late on your visa bill. I could tell your boss, or the auditors or your girlfriend, or your wife....maybe I'll just ask your boss if its OK you call 900 #s all day long.
