Picture 228.pngYou know, you try and do a little service like warn people before they’re about get their asses torn out so that, I’d don’t know, it doesn’t sneak up from behind and take them by surprise, and all of a sudden it’s like you’re the bad guy. It’s like you, and not the ass reamers, are the ones causing the rectal prolapse. We’ve just been informed that Morgan Stanley was none too pleased with our humanitarian effort earlier this morning in which we gave employees a heads up vis-a-vis getting canned, and in an effort to keep said employees in the dark re: what’s coming at them, blocked access to Dealbreaker, on the the equity derivatives floor of 1585 (and perhaps firmwide but I’m not sure). I’m not going to even act like I don’t care because I am livid. It does me little comfort to remind the powers that be at MS that the last banks to restrict access to this here site were Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch but I’ll do it anyway because I’m furious. I’m taking care of your employees in ways you never could. And, god damn it, Mack, I sent you a fucking cheesesteak.
Okay. Now that I’ve slightly, but not really at all, regained my composure, I’m going to give you an opportunity to think about how ridiculous this makes you look. Unblock me now and it’ll be water off a duck’s back. Continue this insanity and I’ll have no choice but continue publicly shaming you until conditions improve.
Update: We’ve been informed that the action taken to block Dealbreaker (firmwide) did not have to do with the matter of masking layoffs but the offensive description of the footwear worn by a current employee.

MS is run by morons: blocking Bess isn’t going to solve your problems! Bad karma folks.
If they would’ve let Notre Dame grad Phillip Purcell alone, the company would be #1 on the street.

hey, what was up with all the denigration of bank tellers in this prior post? i had nothing to do with that conversation and wasn’t even around to defend myself, and i think i might take offense. (ref http://dealbreaker.com/2008/11/john-mack-birthday-boy.php)
that being said, i would still rub your feet after a long day, bess.

  12. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 2:33 PM

Someone better have a chat with the powers that be at MS. We the people cannot afford for another IB to bite the dust this year. Blocking dealbreaker ensures the fact that MS will sink like the titanic.
For the sake of the country someone with the ear of MS management do something today!

@5 Get over yourself…Notre Dame sucks. Not only is South Bend the worst place on earth, but ND continuously surprises me with how awful and boring their alumni are.
Also, please stop posting the same retarded comment all over dealbreaker…it’s definitely not original, but neither is anything that comes out of your awul alma mater.

  35. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:04 PM

Link is dead to precious mentioned post so I will do the honors for those not informed.
    From DB earlier today -
“Apparently cuts are going down in institutional equity trading, and there is a HR representative in “fuck me boots” (though in this case I guess it’d be “fuck you” footwear) lurking around the fifth floor of 1585.”

  36. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:05 PM

Please someone repost link from myspace with pic of suspect chic.

  38. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:07 PM

Morgan Stanley is laying people off today and wlll continue to do so before the weekend. Areas in Fixed income got the axe today. Heard that the packages sucked.

  39. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:10 PM

    @39:
No surprises there. MS could be the cheapest firm on the Street (and I’m talking 5 years ago when there was plenty of $ to go around). I can only imagine what they’re stooping to in current stress scenario.

  40. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:10 PM

  41. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:11 PM

OK this is the real scoop….
The Head of HR (older, chunkier, less f-able) got jealous & catty and was pissed no one noticed her new flat-heel boots she got on sale at Woodbury commons.
She could not stand all the attention being directed toward her underling….so pulled in a favor from IT, for alowing all that Porn.
    Just another catty Wednesday

  42. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:11 PM

Oh please Bess. The pulling of the MS post had more to the do with Jeanette Gamble’s privacy than the description of her footwear.

A brief list of firms that taken action against DealBreaker or to block the site:
    1)Solengo ….Failure to Launch
2)Bear Stearns… forced to sell to JPM
    3) Merrill Lych… Forced to sell to BofA
    4) Goldman (right, i think?)… well… you know
    5) Citadel … Down 40% as of Oct 31
    6) Morgan Stanley… going… going….
Better, short it quick before it goes to zero, people. .
If you’re a fund manager or Fortune 500 company you should not be concerned with happening of two person internet message board. If you are something is seriously fucked.

I had a headache and went to the 8th floor of 1585 to get some aspirin. Well, when I got there, there was no one there at the desk so I sat down and closed my eyes. Shortly, a woman came by and
woke me up” and said that John Mack was making visits to the sick-center and if he caught me napping I’d get fired.
    I think she was serious.
I got my aspirin though. I guess it’s a perk on top of the severance pay.

“Wide-clops” – simply amazing, made my week

  68. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 3:38 PM

Seems to me like the lowest form of cowardice to post pics and point out flaws, both imagined and perceived, of people that are otherwise not in the public eye and just going about their day. Yet you guys think its not only fine, but entertaining. True, she hasn’t made the best use of the privacy features on facebook et al, but that doesn’t make it OK. You all need to get a life.

  99. Posted by Anal_yst | November 19, 2008 at 4:20 PM

the comments here (and the post) have been incredible, sadly I’ve had enough time to read them all, sigh…
Also: nothing wrong with having facebook or myspace (or linkedin or adultfriendfinder or whatever) if you’re not a complete moron about it. All have privacy settings that allow you to have it on virtual lockdown.
Then your only risk is that one of your “friends” will rat your ass out.

  100. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:20 PM

doesnt it seem super extreme that morgan stanley blocked db firmwide because of one comment about boots? and they ARE called ‘fuck me boots’. maybe she’s mack’s daughter.

  101. Posted by Lowly Assistant | November 19, 2008 at 4:21 PM

    Guest @ 4:06,
It’s not a laughing matter. I was in a bar on the LES, and got snagged by a gaggle of wire wearers. “Tangled” doesn’t even explain it.

  102. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:22 PM

    Hey Analyst,
Were you at the Tweet Up last night?

  103. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:22 PM

102 CPW not likely. I know the type. You get to leave work on time and still catch that 5 o’clock ferry. What a life. Wouldn’t trade it for Manhattan anyday.

  110. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:31 PM

@112, 113 – that pic is much better than the others (from MySpace). I’m not particularly overworked and I’d probably let the chick in that pic haunt my dreams. The chick in the MySpace pics? Not so much.

  111. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:33 PM

You need a chic with fisheyes in HR.360 degree vision probably see you walking up behind her.

  112. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:33 PM

Bess – I’m not an expert in Journalism/Internet law. But, by deleting user generated content you are more than likely opening yourself up to a future affirmative responisbility. Remember what protects Craig’s List is all content is user generated.

And we all increased our vocabulary!

  121. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:49 PM

    @128…harsh but fuckin’ funny.
    @125…cruely poetic that would be.

I checked Google Trends earlier and she was in the Top 10…she’s fallen off since then though!!!

  123. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:50 PM

She was still sipping 40′s on a street corner when the people she is firing were generating revenue for MS. Truely a joke. MS needs to grow some balls and not put some 22 year old kid with fuck me boots on a power trip by having her orchestrate mass layoffs. At least use someone who makes over 50k per year! She is practically an intern.

  124. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:52 PM

@127…you are a liar and you know it.
All this started because an anon on orig post said they know her and gave vague descrip of legs and g-string outline – and some summer analy gave initials JW – and then it was a classic Dealbreaker dogpile from there.
    Thats the recap. HEY NOW!

  125. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:53 PM

Who keeps deleting posts from this thread?? Are you guys at DB really that scared of MS????Haven’t you ever heard of freedom of speech? freedom of the press??

  126. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:53 PM

According to her facebook profile, she works in Information Technology. That is not HR. Everything here is complete speculation and the names of the two ladies that are floating around is reprehensible. You should all be incredibly ashamed of yourselves for publishing pictures based on pure speculation. You all may have just emotionally hurt and harmed the reputation of completely innocent and unrelated people. You all should be incredibly ashamed of yourselves in an attempt to get a cheap laugh. Almost everyone here sounds very hateful, angry and predator-like. You are all a disgrace and especially to the perception of Wall Street males, even I am incredibly ashamed. You have just tarnished those who are gentlemen who work on the street.

  127. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:53 PM

Sacrificial little Lamb that she was – have to agree @121. When The Grim Reaper walks the halls, should not be alongside someone in Dominatrix boots or any such attire. Dress like you are going to Sunday School, girl! Hope you are ready to Meet Your Macker tomorrow; suggest Aerosoles this time.

  128. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:54 PM

    @ 133
OK Jeanette Gamble. Do you get double vision when trying to type?

  129. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:55 PM

I’m thinking 133 is just being sarcastic

  130. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:56 PM

I bet she will be wearing a frilly flowery pink frock tomorrow with some aerosoles!

  132. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:57 PM

@133…funniest post on Dealbreaker in a month! I’m crying at my desk and people think I got laid off! Nope, it’s your funny shit!
And blame Bess for originally giving away ‘the tell’ (e.g. fuck me boots).

  133. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 4:58 PM

@131 127 HERE…HEY ASSHOLE, I’M THE GUY WHO DROPPED THOSE INITIALS INITIALLY. HOWEVER, AS I THINK ABOUT IT A BIT MORE, THERES NO WAY IT WAS THE AFORMENTIONED GIRL…SHE IS A RECRUITER, HARDLY THE PERSON THEY’D USE TO CAN SENIOR GUYS.

I was under the same impression. You may want to just let this one roll unedited just to be safe.

    @106
    Whos asking?

  138. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:00 PM

    @133
I agree. This has been an utter disgrace and embarrassment. No wonder the public is angry at Wall Street bankers when they read these posts. For those of us who actually work in the business and have a stake in its future and the reputation of our profession, we are incredibly embarrassed and ashamed. The readership of DealBreaker may not always represent the interests of defending the reputation if financial professionals.

  139. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:00 PM

    @140
You mean she was a recruiter prior to the blow up. I don’t think they are recruiting many IB types these days and so they probably put little miss thing to work on layoffs because she had nothing else to do.

  140. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:00 PM

I work at MS and Jacqueline is taking this in stride. She figures its fair game given the assasin role she was forced into today.

  141. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:00 PM

133- pull the stick out of your ass. Cheap laughs are the only thing that is keeping us going, you fuckface. Been on the street recently?

Apparently this is the downside of having a rediculous public myspace page. Only a juvenille would have a site like that. Can’t bame anyone but her. If you put all your shit out there it will surface somewhere.
Moral of the story is if you are a 22yo social climbing HR dominatrix that wants to be taken seriously when firing people don’t have your pics all over facebook!!

You might want to reccomend to her dressing more appropriately on days when she handles mass layoffs…you know maybe more like an HR person rather than a dominatrix.
And possibly take down that facebook site…won’t really help her lofty career aspirations!

    Guys,
I am finally home from this incredible downer of a day. I knew before coming in today that it would be the day of exit interviews with employees. I just want to say that I wish I could have let everyone I let go today keep their jobs, but unfortunately our company isnt doing to well.
Anyways.. the reason I wore the ‘screw me’ boots today was so I can at least cheer up the poor soul I had to let go by riding the shit out of his big fat fucking cock in the supply closet and letting him cum all over my face and boots.

  163. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:18 PM

#165 Assclown, have you met some of these freak shows in the industry? I have and this site suits them (and you) perfectly.

  165. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:23 PM

I used to work on the floor of the NYSE. That place makes this look like a teaparty at Emily Post’s house. They were ruthless in their pranks, and if someone with big boobs was in the visitor’s gallery, they’d send up a Floor Pass and Cindy from Sioux Falls in the tube top would get an escorted trip across the entire floor.
That’s Wall St. Hate it if you want, deride it, but that is the trading floor.
and I am female, too, and I just deal. (and the one Jim Rogers had his oatmeal fetish tale with).

  166. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:24 PM

170, Do you even know what the AutoAdmit case was about?
Those people called up her prospective employers leading to a job not being offered and sent letters to her professors etc. That was personal harassment.
This is just discussion of public material. Get a grip.

    Bess,
This is not about your reporting of layoffs or anything. This is about singling someone out and giving bait to the sharks that read your site to try to destroy someone’s reputation. We have no idea apart from rumors and speculation of what is going on. You may be destroying an innocent person. And yes, to all the readers here that get off on sexism…it does tarnish our image and is unacceptable behavior coming from financial professionals. I come to this site to learn about recent events or get educated on the inside scoop. Today was a real disappointment as saw how no that many people care about actually important finance information, rather they’d attack and single unrelated people out to ‘keep them going.’ Don’t tarnish the street with this hogwash and please publish some real finance news. If its layoffs at a bank, that’s fine. But, no need to try to destroy someone innocent in the process.

  169. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 5:30 PM

taking your frustrations out on a 22 yr old kid who had to do the unpleasant dirty work of the people you should be angry with but are helpless against. nice work, losers.

  183. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 6:33 PM

Haha, let her have it. As someone who got canned, I have no mercy for these types.
This is for every financier who:
-Has been laid off after literally taking years off their lives working so hard
-Who has read article after article attacking our profession with vitriolic schadenfreude
-Who suffered the indignation of journalists and tv reporters asking them how it feels to be laid off with little job prospects at the Wall Street Pink Slip Party
-Who when it comes time to buy bottles, goes down to the liquor store where they now know him by name, picks up a half gallon of Bowman’s light Vodka (under 12 dollars for half a gallon of 100 proof if you know where to look)
-Goes home and starts drinking that half gallon. At this point not even waiting for it to get below room temperature. Telling themselves that they are drinking as a reward for updating and sending out their resume to 5 or 6 firms, talking and getting updates from their 3 recruiters, and going one more day without pushing a butcherknife through their chest.
Let her fucking have it. I WISH I were being made fun of in the workplace, beats not having a workplace at all.

  185. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 6:46 PM

@190 As someone who has also been made redundant – I have more self respect than to take my anger out on complete strangers. If that’s how you behave, then you’ve just discovered why you are where you are.

  186. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 6:58 PM

@175- Bess did not single out this girl. she did not call her by name. in the original post, bess said that there was an hr girl on the 5th floor. it was the retarded commenters here who took it upon themselves to go to town on the girl.

  187. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 7:11 PM

@193 The ‘tards picked on someone completely unrelated to the story. Bess could have stopped it. I thought she was tough but fair – obviously not. Just grasping for notoriety. Respect lost.

  188. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 7:13 PM

In finance especially, your “brand” is everything. After seeing the posts today, most of you have proven that your brand is worthless. The honorable thing to do after getting laid off is not to take it out on someone not responsible. I would never hire people of such low caliber and lack of decency.

I also know that many of you posting here probably have never worked in the securities industry and it shows. These posts are unacceptable and if any of you ever got exposed for writing such posts, you would be fired in a heart beat. I know many examples involving people getting fired for inappropriate stuff like this. This is Wall Street 2008, not Wall Street 1930s, this kind of behavior is not tolerated and really tarnishes our collective reputations as finance professionals.

I have friends who work at Morgan Stanley. It is a great Firm with some of the most professional and dedicated people in finance. These comments are incredibly despicable and the original post of singling out an HR employee should not have been published. Bess, the original post was disgusting. The way you demeaned a MS employee for her attire based on sources that you cannot verify is irresponsible reporting and may have damaged an innocent person merely doing her job. You opened up a Pandora’s box for some sexist and abusive commenting which invaded someone’s privacy and singled out someone who may have been completely innocent. HR is not responsible for layoffs. It is disgusting how you treat HR. I’m not in HR, but show them some respect. They work incredibly hard and then get demeaned by people like you. Morgan Stanley’s HR is comprised of some of the most professional people on Wall Street. Shame on you. If you were to ever meet any of MS HR you would be impressed. Your descriptions are utterly false and may not even be true.
Bess, I feel sick to my stomach, this is disgusting. Irregardless of the current financial crisis or layoffs, this kind of treatment and display of human indecency and journalistic irresponsibility is unwarranted, even more so when I consider the high caliber and professionalism of people who work in HR and Institutional Equities at Morgan Stanley.

    Too melodramatic, didn’t pay attention.
How can you possibly hold Bess and DB accountable for these comments? Morgan Stanley HR and legal, past and present, can go fuck themselves. Eat shit, die, and burn in hell motherfuckin’ back-stabbin’ cunts.

    Bess,
Would your parents be proud of you if they read your blog?

  215. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 11:09 PM

    Dear Bess,
Here is my opinion on this matter. Based on the content of your sexist post degrading the HR employee based on rumors and speculation about her dress and shoes, and the privacy and character attacks on potentially uninvolved MS employees by those commenting; I would block access to DealBreaker as well. Your previous post amounts to nothing more than character destruction, and may not even have been based on fact. MS is completely justified in blocking access to a site that seeks to slander and harm its reputation with unverified speculation.

  216. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 11:18 PM

    Bess,
Would your mother be proud of what you write? If you contemplate and digest your words for awhile, would you be proud of yourself? Bess, you do not have to stoop down to this form of shock reporting and feeding the hungry sharks who would be more suitable patrons of strip clubs and porn sites than a finance blog such as DB. You are better than this and can produce more insightful financial reporting.

Oh my God. Did all these people wake up all of a sudden TODAY to realize what this site is about?
So if you make fun of 10s of thousands of other people then it is fine. But you make fun of one HR person in Morgan Stanley and all of a sudden everyone is offended!
This is not a financial fucking blog. This is a financial TABLOID! Did all of you just land on this site for the first time today? If you do not like what was posted here then 1) get the fuck off this blog and 2) where the fuck were you all these days when every possible person was being made fun of?
You forget all the characters who went to some lame ass milf hunting session? Any of you feel bad for poor Tanner’s privacy having been violated? If not then get the fuck off!
Stop acting like jerk-offs. All of you gladly devour the same shit – if not on this blog then elsewhere (lets see, how many of you gladly read up and made fun of Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy? Britney’s kid? Spitzer’s whore? What is Gawker all about?) And all of a sudden you have a prude attack.
This site has been flirting with danger for a long time – the reason why it probably remains ‘edgy’ and has captured a large audience. But they have better things to be taken down for (like violating their privacy policy and using IPs for illegal purposes) than for offending a bunch of hypocritical prudes like you.

  218. Posted by guest | November 19, 2008 at 11:40 PM

217 – you must work in HR. The article and comments brought a smile to my face while my firm readies the axe – I work for JPM.

Seems to me that a close friend to the above discussed HR/IT/whatever chicks got really stung by all this (or could it be themselves actually posting these melodramatic opinions about professionalism.)
Lady, this is not a professional forum. It’s a place to vent off and have fun. You obviously have no clue about the trading floor culture. It’s rough. The very fact that the 2 ladies have public profiles on social networking sites makes them fair game for a free speech forum like this one – whether they wore fuck me boots or not (and if they did in the role ascribed to them they definitely deserve it.)

I’m a woman, and I’m actually a little offended that some of you think the phrase “fuck me boots” is demeaning and sexist. I believe in calling a spade a spade, and that’s what I call them when I wear mine. However I’ve never worn them to the office. There’s no way that Bess could have forseen that her post about layoffs would lead to this. Although you could maybe argue that she shouldn’t have trusted bankers’ ability to self-regulate.

Imagine for one second if this girl(s) was your girlfriend, would you be so full of bile…oh hang on you probably all have, jerking one out at home to the idea when you should have been good enough to keep your job and be in work. If you do have partners (I say partners because your so misogynistic that you don’t probably have girlfriends/wive/mistresses, you probably go to the docks for toothless bj’s off ice-whores who you call momma) you should be ashamed. So you got fired, as you said the trade floor is tough, stop fucking crying about it and taking it out someone that’s trying to keep their job. You were happy to fuck everyone else over to make your money, take the rough with the smooth. I await your pointed wit, sharp and intelligent sarcasm and hilarious name calling, you must be proud.

It is funny to bust on Tanner, the guy with the stepmom, and Timmay. It is not funny to make fun of an HR chick that dressed so wrong on a horrible day for the MS guys? Nope its funny… Those guys will remember the girl in club clothes firing them forever!
Rightous indignation is great when it involves the back office, so go back to the back office. We will play rough.
Profesionalism, are you kidding me??? This isn’t a class presentation this is recess. Undo the top button and loosen the neckware… Pull the panties out your a$$ and stop being a little girl, little girl.

Do’nt worry about the fags above who are afraid of damaging reputations or inhibiting you from doing such quality journalism.

235 Tanner opened himself to ridicule for submitting his photo to a MILF contest. This girl just got up and went to work. Don’t see the similarities. Also, why do people getting fired get pissed off at HR? They’re just caught in the crossfire. Sort of like how Saddam Hussein and Iraq got caught between the US and Bin Laden. An easy convenient target, but not really the one you want to be hitting.

  248. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 11:06 AM

254 said – “This girl just got up and went to work.”
No. She went to work inappropriately attired. 1575 is not MTv headquartered. If I can get myself to wear a white starched shirt and black shows instead of a pair of jeans and the first t-shirt that I can lay my hands on, then I believe that an HR ‘professional’ should have a better sense of what to wear in an investment bank – especially on the day she is firing people.
People may have gone too far in doing what they they did here but are you really trying to say that she did nothing? Isn’t this one of the first things that they teach – especially in HR?

  249. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 11:12 AM

255 Now I understand: its OK to crucify the woman because you deem her shoes inappropriate. Are you the SVP of Sartorial Standards at MS? If not, its not your place to be the arbiter of what is correct.

  250. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 11:33 AM

I am not setting any standards. The workplace sets standards and we voluntarily accept them as employment is voluntary. I have worked at a startup-ish financial firm where flip flops and shorts were common. I now dress up in a conservatively colored suit, starched dress shirt and black shoes everyday.
I would be opening myself up to ridicule (and should be ridiculed too) if I end up at work in shorts and flip flops here. You need to be retarded not to have a sense of what is appropriate where.
Some people never learn. Maybe now she (and others) will learn a valuable lesson in appropriate work place attire.
And that too not on a normal day but on a day where you are firing people for Christ’s sake! It is a hugely emotional issue for everyone. I have seen breakdown and cry and go into shock as job loss is a terrible thing. And that is the day she chose to actually flaunt her style in a place where style is not what is even to be shown?

Wow! Pretty harsh (and fun!) crowd.
Those of you who think MS HR are simply carrying out orders you are mistaken. HR was and is fully engaged in protecting the corruption within Morgan Stanley. That corruption and associated bad karma is taking this firm down into bankruptcy. At least the long suffering employees and shareholders will be put out of their misery before long…..

  253. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:02 PM

@259 Karma, huh. And here I was thinking that the economy was in trouble because of the crap mortgages-became-AAA-instruments. Thank you for enlightening me!

  254. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:13 PM

I am speechless at the complete disregard and sexist nature of the comments on this post. This is not a financial blog, it has become a vile and vitriolic flurry of commenting where unprofessional people spew out hate towards HR and women. HR does not deserve this. If any of you ever were found to say these types of inappropriate sexist comments, you would be immediately fired at Morgan Stanley or Goldman Sachs. So, please, spare me the cursing and defense of your sexism, most of you have never worked in finance and judging on the comments are too unprofessional to work at a top tier firm. It does not matter what someone is wearing, it is very inappropriate to single someone out and throw sexist comments at them. It is up to managers to privately discuss inappropriate attire and take appropriate action in terms of employee violations of corporate dress policy in specific divisons. I know plenty of people in HR. They were some of the first people I met when I joined my Firm, and they are wonderful hard-working people who deserve respect. Since then, I regard most of them as my close friends as do most others in the Firm. And the treatment they are receiving on these comments and the post is absolutely ridculous and undeserved. Even though I am a man working in trading, I would defend them as I defend my sister. Even if one of them gave me a pink slip, I would have the intelligence to understand that they are simply the messenger and the real reason for that pink slip is either my underperformance or the inevitability of the cyclical nature of my business. I would see it as an opportunity to retool my skill set and/or find other opportunities.
Back off the ladies you pigs!

  255. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:14 PM

    259 = 9/11 truther

  256. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:24 PM

    @261
I completely agree. The policy at my Firm is that the manager of the specific group or desk can send someone home to change their clothes if he/she deems it violates dress code policy. This is not a reason to be viciously attacked by sexists on a blog. I know a few people that have violated that policy and were simply sent home.
And by the way, HR dress code is somewhat less formal than other more client-facing divisions. And dress code varies from firm to firm. I know that at most firms, you can wear jeans on Fridays depending on the division. There is no proof of what shoes she was wearing, you all may have just been involved in destroying an innocent person that may have been put up to slaughter by a former disgruntled employee.
The comments on this post were just vicious sexist attacks on who may have not even been involved. Shame on you and your level of intelligence and human decency.

    Pig in boots!

  258. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:32 PM

I am a male and absolutely embarrassed and apalled at these comments. I know people at Morgan Stanley HR. They are some of the most professional and hard-working people I know. These sexist attacks are uninformed, despicable and unmerited. For those of you who have worked at a top-tier firm know this. Why are you attacking someone innocent and completely involved? You don’t know what happened Bess. You don’t know who it was or what she was wearing. You don’t know if the tip you got was fake or from a disgruntled employee. Go pick on someone else. Lay-off our HR ladies!

  259. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:34 PM

I work at MS. I’ve had dealings with HR. They are scum.

  260. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:39 PM

    @266
Give us an example and have the courage to tell us who you are and what group you work in. You probably are just someone sitting at home wanting to cause trouble to feel important.

  261. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:41 PM

I’m not getting specific obviously, but they have twice attempted to sandbag me with completely bogus disciplinary actions.

  262. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:47 PM

268 That is, to be blunt, just stupid. HR doesnt initiate disciplinary actions, they just deliver them. And hopefully in a way that complies with all laws and therefore protects the firm. Your anger is misplaced.

  263. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:49 PM

    @268
HR at MS is not responsible for “disclipinary actions.” I do not know what you are referring to. And the only reason you would have problems at MS is if you violate any of its code of conduct or policies that are clearly highlighted in agreements that you sign. And if you agree with the sexist nature of these posts or were involved in writing them, then it seems likely that your views may have slipped out into the open. And that, is definitely grounds for firing or disciplinary action. Morgan Stanley expects better from its employees than sexism and unprofessionalism. It helps build a more welcoming and meritous environment more aligned with revenue generation. If you yearn for the sexist ‘old-boy’ cigar club trading floors of the 1930s, I’m sorry that is not possible in today global financial industry of 2008 where professionalism is rewarded more than incompetence or collective sexist views.

  264. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:51 PM

One of them was based on a complete lie told about me. Fine, HR investigated, and it was immediately dismissed. BUT THEY DID NOTHING TO THE PERSON WHO STARTED THE LIE IN THE FIRST PLACE, SINCE THE PERSON WAS IN DIVISION MANAGEMENT. Second was email related, was completely initiated by HR’s email monitoring, and was complete crap, since I did nothing wrong.

  265. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 12:53 PM

    @270
Professionalism is key here. The traditional NYSE trading floor used to have 7 rooms full of trading. Now, they only have 4 and most of the trading is done electronically. It seems that most of these comments come from either disgruntled employees, old-school traders still wanting to bring back the older more sexist wall street culture, and people sitting in their living rooms wanting drama.

  266. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 1:11 PM

Sounds like we’re about to come full circle here – and the 80′s old-school sexist culture will be back after the dust settles on Wall Street’s 2008 bloodbath. But for today, life’s a bitch and then you get fired by one!

  267. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 1:26 PM

We haven’t come full circle. A person dressed like an idiot and was mocked for it, deservedly. Bad enough to dress inappropriately on any day, much less on a day when you know you’re going to be firing people. A 28 year old guy who came in wearing an earring or something else wildly inappropriate like that while firing people much older than him would have rightly gotten the same treatment.

    Bess,
Thanks but no thanks. I’m officially done coming to DealBreaker. From now on, I’m not going to trust the rumor-based journalism, put up with the sexist posts, nor waste my time with irrelevant blather coming from an irrelevant blog written by people who have never worked in finance and read by people not working in finance or currently on the fringe to take out their sexist fantasies. This was terrible and I learned nothing new. Instead it was a complete waste of time.
Bye Bess, and good luck with the new readership…DealBreaker should be profitable and generating ad-revenue in no time! Can’t wait till you guys have to pack up and your readers will be forced to get porn memberships at ‘roughsex’ sites.

  271. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:06 PM

    @277
It’s no use trying to win arguments with adolescents who merely retort with a curse word or sexist attack. I too have learned nothing new and feel a little less intelligent reading the garbage on here recently.

  272. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:10 PM

    Bess,
Do you know of any blogs with more relevant reports that try to get the real scoop, not just feed the dogs on their sites? Please point me in the right direction. Are these shock posts an attempt to get more traffic? Well, the quality of the traffic is questionable.
Can you point me to a blog where I may actually want to talk about real finance stuff speculation, not just about the boots that someone may or may not be wearing?

  273. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:13 PM

    Bess,
I got an anonomyous tip about someone who works as a programmer in the JPMorgan London IT office with a whip firing people at JPMorgan New York Headquarters. I’ll send it to your tip line. I promise I am not a disgruntled employee, trust me. Please publish it right away, since its 100% accurate.
    Thanks!

Something tells me that all these folks threatening to leave DB have never really been visiting it all that much either.

    Hi Bess,
Coming in through the that reliable tipline…
Word is that a dominatrix in high heels with dracula teeth is throwing first-year analysts off the Citi HongKong building.
You may want to publish this ASAP. Hurry, before the Wall Street Journal beats you to it Bess!
    Thanks,

whats the big deal about her boots? not like she was giving out blowjobs in the staircase and then firing you….
anyway, any ms chicks who want to experience real love juice flowing all over them, leave a note with your bra size. Please, no implants.

  278. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:23 PM

    Bess,
I got another one for the ‘tipline’….
Apparently, this crap site named DealBreaker is not profitable, nor generating enough revenue to stay alive.
Looks like its going to crash, you may to publish this before cnbc does when it actually happens.
Hey Bessy girl….how’s that runway… looking awfully short everyday ;)
You must know of a lot of little start-ups having problems with that runaway.

  279. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:24 PM

Anyone who’s complaining about sexist posts are obviously first timers.
I would be honored if women came up to me asking to see my cock and balls and then proceeded to tell me they wanted me to lick their ass and puss.
    What a life!

The defensive comments about HR are hilarious- “hard-working”,”wonderful”, “professional”, “deserve respect”… these women and occasional gay male are cold, calculating, ruthless and manipulative (qualities that would make a good trader) but also incredibly stupid, which is why they land in a support function anyway. HR at every company is a collection of jealous, vindictive losers who fire people with relish. Absolutely fair game for DB readers to take on.
I question the basic intelligence and judgement of anyone who could actually be friends with an “HR professional”

  281. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:27 PM

    Bessy-girl,
    We want more meat!!!!
I double dog dare you to publish another post detailing the attire of HR. May be try out GS or something. Come on, I double double dog dare you to publish anything similar as to the earlier post….
What? You scared, big-bad Bess, the everyday average joe taker-on of Wall Street in her living room.

To be fair. If I recall correctly Bess simply said HR (a girl) is on the floor and is informing individuals of their termination. It was a poster who described what the HR Person was wearing. It was all downhill after that.

    2. Bend over and receive the hot tip so I can send in the love juice!

  296. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:37 PM

    @300, wrong..
    From DB earlier today -
“Apparently cuts are going down in institutional equity trading, and there is a HR representative in “fuck me boots” (though in this case I guess it’d be “fuck you” footwear) lurking around the fifth floor of 1585.”
Bess did describe her boots, and I guess Bess got that from a very incredibly reliable source. Bulletproof, right Bess?

  297. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:37 PM

@287. Amen Bro! There’s a reason Dilbert scorns the HR department run Catbert!

    Bess,
There is this neon yellow kangaroo walking around with boxing gloves and handing out pink slips at Bank of America!!! OMG Incredible!!!
Please publish this quick, before Google Finance or WSJ beat you to it Bess!
    Thanks,
    Reliable Tipster

  299. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:42 PM

@psycho who’s left the last 20 or so posts. as it was confirmed by ms employees on that floor yesterday, HR girl was indeed wearing those boots, so I guess you could say the sources are bullet proof. it was the commenters who then went to town on this girl. not exactly sure what is offensive in bess’s post. get over yourself you obvious whackjob.

  300. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:45 PM

    Bessy,
OMG!!! I have this totally incredible tip for you today. Vik Bandit is a freakin’ Power Ranger. I saw him morph and fly out of the office today. Totally incredible.
Please post this up on yo’ site. I also gave MaketWatch this tip, so you better put it up fast, because they are obviously going to run it immediately!!!!
    Thanks,
    Honest Tipster

  301. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:49 PM

These is the actual wording of Bess’ post:
“Apparently cuts are going down in institutional equity trading, and there is a HR representative in “fuck me boots” (though in this case I guess it’d be “fuck you” footwear) lurking around the fifth floor of 1585.”
Doesn’t sound like an MS employee or commentator brought it up. Sounds like Bess and her tips practicing journalism at the highest level. Great job Bess, “the walking mess”!

  302. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 2:51 PM

freakshow who’s obviously left all of the above comments- KILL YOURSELF.

  303. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 3:01 PM

We obviously have an HR freak trying to subotage this enlightened conversation by the last 20+ incredibly stupid and borring posts. Looks like MS is taking this personally and diverting their highly qualified lackeys to blogging instead of printing pink slips.

  304. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 3:04 PM

I’m very late to the game here and actually embarassed for asking, since I pride myself on, if nothing else, a deep understanding of popular culture. But could someone please describe for me “f**k boots”. If I try very hard I can imagine how some of you (not me though – give me a strapping lacrosse dude in flip flops any day) would be aroused by those high open toed and backless slip ons that some women wear that go clicking when they walk up and down the aisles. But what is this boot thing? GAnalYst

  305. Posted by EconAnalyst | November 20, 2008 at 3:15 PM

It has always been clear that just about everyone from crazy job applicants with workout videos, to kids who dress up like a fairy, summer interns, CEO’s and everyone in between is up on the block. However, they always welcomed comments from the objects of their attention and said they would take things down if you appealed to their sense of common human decency.

If this woman is so upset she should write a short note to Bess and EP saying so and calmly ask them to at least take the pictures down. Those tossing out the claims of sexism should review some old DB posts and they will find that this site is an equal opportunity ridiculour.

  306. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 3:17 PM

@313–for many men on wall st if a woman is wearing thigh high boots and has a whip, its a big turn on as it reminds them of how their mother’s looked right before they got spanked or had an anal thermometer stuck in their butt.
Or what they saw in their parents bedroom as mommy spanked daddy

One of the names that the unfortunate HR girls were called on this site…

  313. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:28 PM

    Bess,
Why do you have to block IPs now? Come on Bessy….I thought you were all for upheaval and destructively exposing Wall St. Did you find a new job yet, Bess? Is DealBreaker printing money yet with all that upscale clientèle? Did you get any new tips on that red hot tipline of yours? Have you taken a shower yet today, or are you still surfing the web and lounging around posting in your living room? Did you find out other ways to increase traffic on your website using sexist attacks for the brutish commentators? Did you have your mother take a look at all your great work?
Oh, and did you figure out if you’re ever going to put up another anonymous sexist story based on an ‘insider’ tip from Mr. Reliable Source? Oh Bessy, don’t disappoint us now, I want some juicy posts now, since they are sooooo related to finance and do not distract from the real event. I think I know why John Carney left you Bessy girl.
    P.S.
DB is trash. Since firms including GS, MS and other top tier firms don’t allow posting on DB….than that means that the people posting on here are either:
-high school/college kids ‘interested’ in business
    -’investors’ with etrade/scottrade accounts
-sexual predators taking a break from roughsex.com
    -disgruntled employees
    -wannnabe top tier employees
    -haters
-drama-mammas sitting in their living rooms

  314. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:30 PM

    @322
    IPs are being blocked??

  315. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:36 PM

    @322
Now that Bess has proven her mettle with her incredible work at DB, she’s going to get that call from WSJ real soon.
Now that ad revenue is down, I wonder how long it will be before we hear DB writing about its own layoffs, considering they must not have anything close to being monetized considering their readership is not very educated or compensated.

  316. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:38 PM

    @323
    Yes

  317. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:39 PM

@322, get a grasp on how things work. This is just a tabloid and forum, and you’re not helping its quality. Furthermore, IPs are blocked by the firms you so revere, not by Bess.
I, for one, sometimes lament the lowbrow aspect of all the posters, but I do appreciate that there’s a forum to find out what’s going on. Oh, and if you beat it, it will be better! Unless you have some info. Thanks.

  318. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:48 PM

@322- it’s patently obvious you’re a deranged freak show (as evidenced by the last 30 or so posts that are obviously all from you) but get it through your fucking skull. the original post was about employees in equity derivatives at morgan stanley being laid off. that is the real fucking event you total psychopath. obviously bess’s sources are dead on, since that did in fact happen yesterday, and there was indeed an HR girl going around the 5th floor doing it. you are obviously a sick fuck but you really need to stop harassing bess, it was truly disturbing hours ago, now it’s frightening.

  319. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:53 PM

    @323 and @326
My IP was blocked twice. As soon as I tried to post, it would redirect me to a screen that said my comment was invalid and I am not able to post a comment. I’m not using any firm’s computer. I guess Bess couldn’t handle all those awesome tips I was sending in through that reliable tipline of hers. They were so good and soooo believable. She usually publishes that crap, I don’t know what’s wrong with her today. I mean that kangaroo with boxing gloves punching the laid off, the one about Vik being a Power Ranger or Bella passing out MilkBones….those were real tips and verified. I promise….
Oh Bessy girl….I thought you were a tough broad taking on Mack the Knife and other CEOs all by yourself. Wow, the rants about those weak little Wall St. CEOs with no balls. Bess, may be you should try applying for job and see how long you last at one of these firms and then we’ll see how tough you really are. Oh, and don’t forget to change your clothes and shower…I know its easy to forget sometimes when you work from home posting bs on a trashy little blog.

  320. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 6:55 PM

And it’ll be blocked a third time….I hope I can squeeze this one in….
    Bess,
    Marry Me!

  321. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:04 PM

    @327
I’m not a deranged anything. Judging from the posts, a lot of other comments here point to deranged freaks.
    Bess,
Okay….let’s call it a truce. Everyone was having so much fun…and I thought those tips were funny and may help people question your whole tipline idea and whether or not it may harm innocent people. That’s all.
    P.S.
I still think that DB is trashy and can improve its quality by not talking about “fuck me boots” and so on as you wrote in your original post. You gotta admit, that was sexist and opened the door up to the DB sexist fringe (hopefully they are the fringe) and just distracted from the real topic of layoffs.

  322. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:16 PM

    @327
And, you have to ask yourself…If Bess’ original post was so innocent and harmless and accurrate, why did she take it down?
Why don’t you go look up several comments above you and see what the original post was. We don’t even know where the information came from, and yet it was descriptive and we’re supposed to act like that’s how it really went down. You put that much trust into DB and the whole anonymous tip idea. Do you have any clue about a concept involving disgruntled employees or other shadowy characters taking out their frustrations on innocent people in the forms of false tips. We don’t know if it happened. At best, DB could have told us about reports of layoffs going on….but to then go into specifics about someone’s dress, etc in a way that seems somewhat sexist or vicious and then standing by as commentators go on an orgy of sexist destruction and privacy invasion of who may be innocent people…..now that’s messed up.
I hope DB can somehow improve their tipline idea or not post useless things like speculating what someone may be wearing or not. I’m surprised Bess even thought it was a good idea to post shoe detail based on some random anonymous source coming in from the tipline. I guess DB isn’t doing that again soon.

  323. Posted by ep | November 20, 2008 at 7:18 PM

    Dear 322, 328:
You should be aware that Section 240.30 (1)(a) of the New York Penal code provides in part that:
A person is guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree when, with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person, he or she:
…communicates with a person, anonymously or otherwise by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm; or (b) causes a communication to be initiated by mechanical or electronic means or otherwise, with a person, anonymously or otherwise, by telephone, or by telegraph, mail or any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm… (end)
Similar sentiments are codified in Section 1708.7 of the California Civil Code. As you have continued a pattern of harassment and unwanted communication that could be taken by a reasonable person as threatening, and as you have refused to cease when so requested, we have taken the liberty of recording the series of IP Addresses you have used to engage in this conduct. We have also begun communicating with the abuse contacts for the ISPs/educational entities related to these addresses and requested they retain any connection, MAC Address information, proxy logs or other security logs in the event that we are inclined to file a civil or criminal complaint in relation to your conduct. At the very least you have violated Dealbreaker.com’s terms of service.
At this point, I would advise you to apologize in such a fashion that we can all be sure on this end that it was a bit of immature teasing that got excessively out of hand. In the absence of that kind of a response we are going to have to contact the proper authorities.

  324. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:22 PM

mentally challenged person@331- you’re going to have to come up with a new argument since every detail of the post (layoffs in equ. derivatives, an HR girl wearing a certain type of footwear) TURNED OUT TO BE CORRECT. Also, there was nothing vicious about bess’s description. it was the cretins who then ripped the girl apart in comments.

  325. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:25 PM

    Dear Bess and EP,
I apologize. I did not mean to cause any harm. I admit, some of the posts got a little out of hand. It was immature and the teasing did get out of hand. It was more of a joke and I can see how it could have been carried too far. I am really really sorry. Please accept my apology. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to fix this.
    Thank you.

  326. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:39 PM

    Dear Bess and EP,
I had no idea that my posts would be taken that seriously or personally. I want to apologize again. Please confirm that you have read my apology. I can also email you if you like. I did not at all mean for the teasing to be threatening. However, I completely understand where you are coming from, and it did go a little too far and was inappropriate. Once again, I did not mean any harm and please accept my sincerest apologies. If there is anything you like me to do or want to communicate through another channel such as email or phone, please indict that. Once again, I am very sorry Bess and I did not mean to hurt you or put in such a position.
    Thank you.

  327. Posted by ep | November 20, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I think you might take the time to email Bess @ tips@db to make sure she sees you didn’t mean any harm.

  328. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 7:52 PM

    Ep,
Sure. I’ll do that right away. Gosh, I feel really bad. I’m such an idoit for not truly realizing the gravity of what I was posting. The teasing really did get out of hand. I hope she’s not feeling too bad about it. I am so sorry if my words made her feel threatened in any way.

  329. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 8:27 PM

    Ep,
I just sent the email and hope Bess accepts my apology. I really did not mean for it to get personal or carried this far. I’m really sorry and my post was unacceptable.

  332. Posted by guest | November 20, 2008 at 9:18 PM

Dear Bess, Ep and All DB readers,
I will be very incredibly mindful of what I post on any site from now on. Thank you for making me realize the gravity of my words and the harm they caused. I needed to learn this lesson and it was long overdo. I am very grateful for the leniency shown to me, and Bess and Ep’s actions contrast sharply with what I did. You both are very kind and decent people and I am disappointed and upset at myself for what I wrote. This will be my last comment and I am sorry for cluttering this article with my posts, stupidity and lack of empathy as I have done today.

Hey EP/Bess/DB, what have these arseholes been doing to the girl from HR? I’m sure that comes under “aggravated harassment with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm”. Are you going to threaten them with the law (#238,#239,#240)? What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander, right? Or do you wield the big stick to protect your own? It’s a bit late to step in now mate. If your going to wait until it get’s out of hand to get involved then maybe you shouldn’t be in this game, or maybe you should get online moderators or maybe (as your loyal followers spout)just deal with it and grow a pair! 337. Posted by Anal_yst | November 20, 2008 at 11:38 PM

    @ ALL DUMBASSES
    1. How many countless stories have you heard of HR screening potential candidates in a google/facebook/myspace/etc search, and then laughing when they encounter John q. wannabe Analyst’s kegstand pics?
How is it that no one has pointed out the irony of an HR chick (alleged HR chick?) having wholly inappropriate, publically accessible personal information come back to bite her in the ass?
    2. In general, how many times have we seen this before? If you’re going to use social networks, make sure your privacy controls are on fucking lockdown. Make sure anyone you “friend” you can trust if shit hits the fan.
    3. @ 343
You’re clearly not a lawyer, maybe crazy HR apologist back for round #75?
    4. I haven’t stopped laughing for the past 2 days. Jesus christ people loosen up.
    5. HR in-and-of-itself is an interesting beast. It exists almost solely as a self-perpetuating field. While there are exceptions – those who are pioneers or whatnot in their field – most HR workers are wasteful cost centers who busy themselves with mindless nonsense like ‘team building’ exercises and other stereotypical bullshit.
HR, likely, will be one of the most seriously affected areas in terms of layoffs no doubt, along with marketing, some service areas, and other non-essential functions.
    6. HOWEVER, most people in HR are just doing their job like anyone else. Very, very few are out to get anyone or doing it out of spite or some other less-than-noble motivation. Give ‘em a break, or at least the benefit of the doubt.

  338. Posted by Novice | November 20, 2008 at 11:49 PM

listen up you lot, I’m not an HR apologist, i just don’t like it when people start tearing other people apart like it’s fair game, just grow up! Then EP starts espousing Section 240.30 (1)(a) of the New York Penal code to put the frighteners on someone because he/she/them don’t like what they’ve got to say while admiting that other comments about someone else are “out of hand” then stand by and do nothing when it doesn’t directly affect them. Sounds like massive double standards to me. Either up hold you’re beloved Section 240.30 (1)(a) of the New York Penal code or don’t, or is that too hard to understand?

    EP,
You are an embarrassment for invoking the New York Penal code. Get off your high horse. If you don’t like the posting, why not take down the thread? Considering it’s not useful news in any fashion, surely there is no harm in that.

    hahaha
the spammer dick tucked real quick
and 343 you’re an idiot. why would ep threaten any of the posters when none of them are directly harassing the girl?
words on a screen people, words on a screen.
People are acting like they hacked her myspace and threw up her nudes or something…paging 4chan….

    EP,
How was your firing from Kaupthing Capital Partners () DId an HR dude come out in “bangham black chelsea boots” in honor of your being a limey?
    Non-viking, non-bankrupt PE

  344. Posted by guest | November 21, 2008 at 10:30 AM

hmmm… there was supposed to be a “snarf!” in the ( ) after Kaputhing Capital Partners, but it dissappeared. vengeful, EP, vengeful ;).

  345. Posted by guest | November 21, 2008 at 10:44 AM

DB doesn’t care about the contents of the comments in the site. So they got a call from a lawyer, removed one of their own posts, and then started censoring some stalkers in this thread. OK.

Wow…that is all I can say.

The matter is much simpler than all this. Bess was threatened. References to what she was wearing and her family were made. Where she lived and worked. We aren’t going to tolerate that. Period.
If any user, or third party has legitimate, similar issues with comment activity here and brings it to our attention we will act in identical fashion. Why wouldn’t we?
Be this as it may, we don’t have any standing to pursue legal action on behalf of a third party who has not even complained to us- nor do I think the authorities would entertain a criminal complaint where the victim was unaware that a complaint was being sworn out.

Wow this thread got insane! I’m all for a shit show but no need to go Cape Fear on people. People need to chill on Bess. She let this thing go nuts with wideclops (i posted it first!) and all the crazy links and comments and a couple of you crazy bastards go and threaten Bess? Why? Many other blogs would’ve shut this fun down long before it got started but Bess let it rock.
EP – nice job dropping the hammer.

@358 The thing is that the person you have revelled in persecuting has nothing to do with HR, nothing to do with redundancies, and nothing to do with the article. You’ve just been picking on a completely innocent person. Bess and EP have shown that they are monitoring the comments, and are therefore fully aware of this. They have also demonstrated their ability and willingness to apply editorial control. By being selective in doing so, they can no longer claim that they have no responsility for what has been said.

@359 —-> wanker who knows how to ruin a good time.

  352. Posted by guest | November 24, 2008 at 7:41 PM

The argument that DB is responsible for the comments because they are moderating them is so circa-1999. The law has progressed since that time. Thank you.

I’ve been out of the office for a few days and assumed the blocking was a short-term thing in response to the wideclops fuck me boots comments. Nope, still blocked.
