Apparently Saturday Night Live pulled this economic bailout skit from a few weeks ago, because of "the potential problems it might have caused NBC." Not really sure what those would be (will General Electric not get its promised personal rescue package? Did Lorne Michaels get a letter from Paulson's therapist about the Treasury Secretary being in a "very delicate place right now and jokes at his or his baby's expense, even from a good natured place, would have a profoundly negative effect on the global economy"?), though perhaps producers were just afraid of the inevitable dead silence. The Barney Frank impression is pretty excellent however, so at least watch that.

Brilliant Barney Rubble impression. Of course, The Bald One tried to put the kabbosh on this!

Fuck this ho. And that's an awful picture of her, unless she was never that attractive to begin with.
Sorry EC...xoxo Gossip Girl.

"Georges Soros
Owner, Democratic Party"
I love it.
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:05PM
they killed it because of the caption about some couple "who should be killed". This was on gawker/nymag a few weeks ago!

What i difference a month makes. This was shot before Europe realized it was fucked and went to shit. Based on the change since then Fake George Soros would have been wiped out by his short dollar long swiss franc position.

That is by far the funniest shit I have seen in months!!! I am about to fall out of my chair...thanks for lightening my mood while watching this country fall into socialism...
USSA!!!

@4- calm yourself, roidrage.
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:23PM
4 - just shut up.
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:25PM
the "couple that should be killed" were Bill and Marion Sandler, the principal shareholders in World Savings, which was sold to Wachovia and eventually resulted in its failure. World had had a reputation for expert mortgage underwriting. Its portfolio was orginally thought to be immune from the housing decline in their markets (largely CA and FL, but also a bit on TX, NY, NJ). This of course turned out to be totally false. The Sandlers basically took the money and ran.
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:26PM
I should add, except for the SNL skit, very little is heard about the Sandlers, which are key players in the recent mortgage related problems. Why is that?
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:29PM
AQR got FU-CKED!!! Son!!!
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:32PM
that's not a "forbidden" or banned sketch, it aired on TV and i watched it online several weeks ago. the only controversy about it is that they changed the bottom headlines that appear on screen with the sandlers , under threat of legal action. i forget what they said but you can google it.
im disappointed, DB
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 12:35PM
@14- actually, the skit, in this form, was banned. i'm disappointed in you, dumbass commenter @14.

They also pulled it from everywhere - their site, YouTube, etc. Supposedly the Dem. party (and the Sandlers, who are big supporters) were none too thrilled, and used the Sandlers to pull it from anywhere before it got passed around much.
Palin wasn't on - either of them - so nobody was watching SNL that week.

"Your wife is attractive...Sell her to me"
Posted by GinNTonic , Nov 06, 2008 12:56PM
@14
The part that was edited was when the Sandlers (husband + wife who sold GoldenWest to Wachovia) were speaking, there was a headline below that said "People who should be shot." I guess you can't make death threats even through comedy.

@22- why would carney want to point out that clustersuck put it up an hour later?
Posted by guest , Nov 06, 2008 1:17PM
@16 oh, i guess this happened in stages then. i remember when it was just the "should be shot" that was taken out. apparently the democrats wanted the whole thing pulled because it indicts them for what they really did to cause this credit crisis

Hey gang,
We hadn't noticed that Bess had already posted this video. I got it the same way I'm sure she did: our friends at GofG emailed us about it.
I'm still friends with Bess, love DealBreaker and link to it as often as possible from Clusterstock. And I'm quite impressed with all the work Bess and EP have been doing since I left. Team Bess!
Also, while I'm hear, I love the idea of the bubble baubles for charity. We plan to cover the auctions extensively at Cluster and I hope the idea really catches on.
Now back to the Cluster. Stay strong! I miss you guys and girls.

Carney, we miss ya, but you were right Bess has capable hands...
