We share in your outrage (for surely you possess it) following Mr. Spitzer's gliding skate off center ice without so much as a bloodied nose. We're not often the ones hissing "it's a conspiracy," but with passages like this emanating from the New York Times, it's hard not to think that "the fix is in."
In the interview, Mr. Garcia said that although there was evidence that Mr. Spitzer had violated the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting people across state lines for the purpose of prostitution, there were none of the other factors that traditionally weighed in favor of bringing charges, like the use of juvenile prostitutes, or commercial or other exploitation of them.
So let me get this straight. We're off to other business because the charges we would have brought don't include statutory rape? This is the threshold we are going to require?

her boobs are nice in that picture

Equity Private should stick to economic analysis (which he isn't very good at either) and leave legal analysis to the pros.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 9:50AM
the Mann Act has been unused in almost 30 years - prior to that it was mainly used as a political weapon - as it would have been here. Pointless to prosecute once Obama won.

EP is a she, dude.

Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 9:52AM
EP when isn't the fix in?
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 9:53AM
If the implication is that Eliot Spitzer has friends in high places, and therefore got off scot-free from a crime any other male would have at least gotten probation for - then you are correct.
It's not fair, it's not right, but it's the way of the U.S. Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich (crook) and my guess is George W. will pardon Ted Stevens (crook).

Gotta hand it to Spitzer. At least he has good taste in Whores.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 9:57AM
Who cares? Part of the draw of powerful positions is to abuse that power in some form. Its called a perk and everybody in power uses it one time or another. Who cares that he was getting his whistle blown in the Mayflower?

anyone see those pics on thesuperficial.com of her? (totally nude). enjoy. talk about a great set of breasts.

lame. at least reuters credited dealbreaker with reporting it (w/ full memo) hours before any other outlet.

I love how every article on Spitzer gets a picture of her with the headline.
Sex sells DB, keep it up...
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:09AM
shut up, eunuch@13
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:13AM
Suggest we all chip in for a Filipino hooker to cut Spitzer's dick off with a rusty knife the next time he tries to dip his wick. Think this would be appropriate punishment. A total kitty of $100 should do it; I'm in for $10.

I'm simply amazed at the gall that most people on this website have! Ye without sin cast the first stone you hypocrit motherf-ers.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:20AM
@16- he committed a crime, and what's more, he spent his career ripping the assholes of people who j-walked. him getting of, prosecutorially speaking, is a crock of shit.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:20AM
@3...is EP a male or female? Can anyone confirm - somehow.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:26AM
@17 I'm sure your conscience is clean. We should plaster all of your indiscretions all over the Post.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:26AM
@17 Did you expect to see him to the perp walk? Maybe a pic in an orange jump suit?
No chance. They protect their own.

She looks like Groucho Marx with bolt ons.
Posted by Riskybusiness , Nov 18, 2008 10:42AM
EP is a she, only no one would bother taking her across state lines for elicit purposes. They wouldn't bother taking her home from the dive bar they found her in either.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:43AM
Good for Spitzer. I hope some regulatory agency will hire him !
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 10:50AM
22 & 23 - if there was a way to block you two cretins from this post I would-EP-keep up the good work

In the halls of justice, the justice is in the halls.
Posted by chernevik , Nov 18, 2008 11:08AM
Sure, Spitzer used technicalities and strained interpretations to criminalize marginal behavior. But he only did so to people that mattered, when it brought him attention.
Now he's irrelevant. Prosecuting him isn't worth the time. I'd love to see him in jail, but this is pretty good too.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 11:36AM
She is pretty hot. Sorry, I can't help it.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 11:44AM
I'm no Spitzer fan, but the man is no longer governor, his political career is over, and he's been publicly shamed. For making a personal choice.
For committing a victimless crime.
I think society and Spitzer are square.
Posted by Mikeshardlemon , Nov 18, 2008 12:00PM
Actually, I think destroying the man's career through unproven accusations and then ultimately dropping charges was the right way to go. It's what Spitzer used to do.
Posted by NotNasser , Nov 18, 2008 12:05PM
23, "elicit" purposes?
To elicit more intelligent postings from you hereafter, I will mention that the word you probably want is illicit.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 12:21PM
Personally, I think that prostitution is a personal choice. But Spitzer only agrees when it's his choice. He would have destroyed and jailed anyone who did what he did. He deserves to rot in jail. Society and Spitzer will only be square when he is being gang raped by Bubba and Bubba's jailhouse buds.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 1:18PM
@25 This is @22. I was talking about Spitzer's hooker not about EP.
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 1:22PM
what about Social Security Taxes, Medicare, Workman's Comp?
Posted by guest , Nov 18, 2008 1:51PM
@15, would rather spend the money hiring spitzer to sit above a dunk tank, and roger clemens to throw at the target all day long. both need the money
